Abstract

Digestive disorders rank among the most common problems faced in Indonesia, especially for the Baduy people in Banten Province. Although the Baduy live in water-rich areas, their lack of sanitation facilities and unawareness of methods of disease prevention have prompted high morbidity and mortality rates in their communities, largely due to digestive system disorders that they continue to treat with medicinal plants. This survey was undertaken to document Baduy indigenous medicinal plants that were used to treat and prevent different types of digestive system disorders in their communities using quantitative ethnobotanical approaches. Ethno medicinal data were collected from 30 informants regarding their knowledge on medicinal plants. Quantitative approaches were used to determine the use value and informant consensus factor values of collected data. The results revealed that the Baduy currently use 54 medicinal plant species belonging to 30 families to treat digestive system disorders. Additional research is required, however, to validate the function of the medicinal plants and identify their active compounds.

Abstract

Indonesia is very rich in traditional fermented foods, one of the distinctive foods from Banten that is still not widely known and scientifically studied is kotok bongkok. The study aims to integrate research results on fungal diversity in kotok bongkok as content for an innovative teaching material that senior high school students can use to study biology on biodiversity. The requirement for contextualized learning materials that connect complex biological ideas with students' real-world experiences served as the basis for the study. Four biology teachers were interviewed as part of a mixed-methods approach to get qualitative data, while 103 grade X students from three different schools completed questionnaires to gather quantitative data. Isolation and identification resulted in the identification of several fungal taxa in kotok bongkok, including Rhizopus oligosporus, Mucor racemosus, Rhizomucor pusillus, Penicillium sp., and yeast, which colonized kotok bongkok, providing authentic biological examples for learning fungal diversity. Both teachers and students see local food-based examples as viable and interesting teaching materials. While students preferred interactive media, including e-modules, videos, and learning applications, teachers highlighted the potential of project-based learning and module-based forms. The results were aligned with competencies to biotechnology, biodiversity, and the ecological roles of fungi, and matched to the learning objectives of Indonesia's merdeka curriculum. Kotok bongkok enriches the curriculum and encourages scientific literacy, cultural sensitivity, and sustainable knowledge practices in biology lessons. The work provides a reproducible strategy for contextualizing biology learning and highlights the pedagogical value of incorporating local knowledge into formal scientific education

Abstract

Schizophyllum commune, a wild edible mushroom, has gained significant attention due to its potential as a valuable source of biomass, nutrients, and bioactive compounds. This study aims to explore the production of mycelial biomass and analyze its nutrient and bioactive compound content to be applied as a raw material in food production. The Schizophyllum commune was cultivated in potato dextrose broth media with temperature (25, 30, 35, and 40oC) and pH treatments (3, 7, and 8) to determine the optimal conditions for biomass production. Mycelia biomass was harvested and extracted. Nutrient and bioactive compounds were analyzed. Results showed that 30oC and pH 7 give the highest biomass production. Proximate analysis revealed that the mushroom's mycelia biomass contained high protein, low fat, and fiber. The analysis also demonstrated a rich profile of bioactive compounds, including flavonoid and phenolic compounds, respectively1 2,32 ± 0,95 dan 415,72 ± 15,23 g/100 g mycelia dry weight. Schizophyllum commune exhibits promising prospects for mycelial biomass production.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan penduduk dan peningkatan aktivitas rumah tangga meningkatkan volume sampah organik yang dominan di TPA, sehingga menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan dan emisi gas rumah kaca. Pengolahan sampah organik menjadi pupuk organik cair (POC) menawarkan solusi ramah lingkungan sekaligus meningkatkan nilai hara limbah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Banjarnegara, Kecamatan Ciwandan, Kota Cilegon melalui program Kuliah Kerja Mahasiswa Tematik Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Metode yang diterapkan meliputi sosialisasi, demonstrasi pembuatan POC berbasis limbah sayuran, dan praktik langsung oleh peserta. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui post-test dan observasi keterampilan peserta. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat; 87,5% peserta memperoleh skor ≥70 pada post-test, sementara ±90% mampu melakukan proses pembuatan POC secara mandiri. Produk POC yang dihasilkan mengandung unsur hara makro dan mikro serta mikroorganisme fungsional, berpotensi meningkatkan kesuburan tanah, mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman, serta mengurangi ketergantungan pada pupuk sintetis. Selain itu, pemanfaatan limbah organik rumah tangga mendukung pengurangan volume sampah, penerapan prinsip ekonomi sirkular, dan peningkatan kemandirian masyarakat dalam pengelolaan lingkungan. Kegiatan ini juga memperkuat partisipasi kelompok masyarakat lokal dan menyediakan model praktik baik yang dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain. Kesimpulannya, pembuatan POC dari limbah rumah tangga efektif meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat, mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan, dan mendorong pengelolaan sampah berbasis komunitas.

Abstract

Ikan payus (Elops hawaiensis) merupakan komoditas perikanan lokal yang melimpah di Desa Domas, namun pemanfaatannya masih terbatas sehingga nilai tambah ekonominya belum optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu rumah tangga melalui sosialisasi diversifikasi olahan ikan payus menjadi abon. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan campuran (mixed methods) melalui desain One-Group Pretest-Posttest. Instrumen evaluasi berupa soal pilihan ganda untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan, yang dianalisis menggunakan N-Gain, serta observasi dan angket respons untuk menilai partisipasi dan minat berwirausaha. Hasil menunjukkan rata-rata skor meningkat dari 45,71% menjadi 90% dengan nilai N-Gain 0,90 (kategori tinggi), yang mengindikasikan efektivitas program. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan literasi pengolahan pangan lokal serta membuka peluang pengembangan ekonomi rumah tangga berbasis sumber daya perikanan setempat.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the internal and external factors that cause learning difficulties experienced by class XI students when studying digestive system material. The research used a survey method with a cross-sectional research design involving high school students from three schools in Banten and a class XI biology teacher. Data collection using questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis was carried out using Microsoft Office Excel, and the findings were displayed in the form of a percentage graph. The results of measuring the student learning interest showed that 55.53% of students stated that difficulty in distinguishing types of digestive system enzymes was one of the factors in students' lack of interest in understanding the material. The learning study habits indicators showed that only 28.9% of students applied understanding of the material in their daily lives, this triggered students' lack of memory for the material. Meanwhile, the teacher teaching method indicator showed that 24.43% of students stated that the learning process in class felt monotonous, this was due to the use of learning strategies by teachers which was still relatively lacking, apart from that in the learning facilities indicator, the teaching materials used in schools were still dominant rely on textbooks

Abstract

Provinsi Banten, tepatnya Kabupaten Pandegelang, merupakan tempat asal mula Talas Beneng, "beneng" berarti "besar" dan "koneng", yang menggambarkan talas beneng berukuran besar dan berwarna kuning. Talas beneng adalah salah satu jenis talas yang dapat dikonsumsi sebagai makanan pokok. Namun, kandungan asam oksalatnya yang tinggi membuatnya kurang populer dibandingkan dengan jenis talas lainnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis bagaimana pendapat masyarakat pada talas beneng sebagai komoditas lokal khas Banten yang dapat mengembangkan perekonomian di provinsi Banten. Penelitian ini digunakan dengan metode deskriptif dengan mewawancarai kepada 30 responden masyarakat Kota Serang Provinsi Banten. Hasil penelitian ini dapat mengubah persepsi masyarakat bahwa talas beneng dapat dijadikan produk yang bernilai tinggi seperti tepung talas beneng, cerutu talas beneng, keripik talas beneng, beras talas beneng, dan sebagainya. Dengan tujuan meningkatkan aspek ekonomi masyarakat lokal Banten, data yang dikumpulkan dapat digunakan sebagai dasar untuk pengembangan talas beneng yang berkelanjutan. Kata kunci : Talas beneng; komoditi pangan; persepsi masyarakat.

Abstract

Ubi jalar (Ipomoea batatas L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas yang nilai ekonomisnya tinggi dan mempunyai banyak manfaat dan kandungan nutrisi yang berguna bagi kesehatan tubuh manusia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi masyarakat terhadap konsumsi ubi jalar sebagai pangan lokal alternatif karbohidrat dan upaya yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Banten dalam pemanfaatan potensinya untuk meningkatkan sektor ekonomi. Penelitian kuantitatif dilakukan metode penelitian survei deskriptif kepada 57 responden masyarakat Sindangkarya Kabupaten Pandeglang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Banten memiliki ragam persepsi terkait ubi jalar, potensi dan pemanfaatannya. Informasi yang diperoleh dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar pengembangan ubi jalar yang berkelanjutan sehingga dapat meningkatkan aspek ekonomi masyarakat lokal Banten. Kata kunci :  Ubi jalar; karbohidrat; alternatif pangan.
