Abstract

Islamic religious education in the modern era must be informative and transformational, namely, to be able to form students' religious character completely and sustainably. One of the key factors in the success of this transformation is self-efficacy, namely, students' belief in their ability to carry out religious values in everyday life. This study aims to examine how the role of self-efficacy is built through Islamic Religious Education learning that is designed contextually and applicatively. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The study subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and senior high school students implementing transformation-based learning in Bandung. The study results show that students' self-efficacy is formed through 1) a religious and supportive school environment, 2) a meaningful and contextual learning model, 3) consistent character guidance and habituation, and 4) disciplinary policies that support student self-control. Therefore, transformational Islamic Religious Education is effective in forming students' religious character if it synergistically involves all elements of the school to strengthen their self-efficacy in carrying out religious teachings consistently and consciously.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in shaping the moral character of students at SDN 038 Kiaracondong. Moral education at the elementary school level is crucial for developing students' character from an early age. PAI teachers play a strategic role in instilling moral values through methods such as exemplary behavior, habituation, story-based teaching, and reward and punishment approaches. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation to gain an in-depth understanding of the process of shaping students' morals. The results show that PAI teachers consistently apply the method of exemplary behavior, where the teachers' actions serve as a direct example for the students. Habituation of religious activities such as communal prayers and regular recitations effectively instills positive values in the students' lives. Story-based teaching and reward and punishment approaches are also effective in motivating students to behave well. Support from the school environment and collaboration with parents further strengthens the formation of students' morals. However, challenges such as the influence of social media and a lack of parental involvement in moral education still pose obstacles. The study concludes that the efforts of PAI teachers at SDN 038 Kiaracondong in shaping students' moral character have been effective, but collaboration between schools, families, and the community needs to be continuously improved.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and explore the meekness approach in character building in early childhood based on the perspective of Muslim hadith number 2935. This hadith emphasizes the importance of gentleness in social interactions and confirms that Allah SWT loves gentleness and provides special rewards for people who are gentle. Therefore, this study examines the meek approach as an alternative in character building in early childhood. The method used in this research is a literature study that involves the collection and analysis of various relevant literature sources, which include books, hadith books, journals and scientific articles that refer to the same topic. The results show that the gentle approach is very effective in shaping character in early childhood. Principles such as empathy, positive communication, tolerance, compassion and care are also contained in the character building. Through the role of parents and teachers, character in early childhood can be formed by applying a gentle approach as taught in Muslim hadith number 2935 which has a positive impact on the formation of children's character. Furthermore, this gentle approach makes children able to understand the surrounding environment and can manage themselves not to be rude, so that social relationships are created in harmony and affection.

Abstract

Religious prejudice among students poses a serious challenge to Islamic education in pluralistic societies. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Qur’an-based Religious Diversity (QbRD) method in reducing religious prejudice among Muslim university students. Employing a mixed-methods design, the research combined the qualitative development of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) materials with a quasi-experimental quantitative approach. The QbRD learning model was implemented in four stages: (1) student-led discussions on the concepts of faith and disbelief; (2) lecturer-led reflection on the Islamic mission of moral excellence; (3) student analysis of Qur’anic verses concerning Muslims and non-Muslims; and (4) student synthesis of theological perspectives based on the Qur’an. The study involved 12 IRE classes, with 200 students in the intervention group and 200 in the non-intervention group. Statistical analysis showed a significant improvement in the intervention group’s positive religious attitudes (t = 16.925, p < 0.01), while the control group showed minimal change. These findings indicate that QbRD fosters inclusive theological understanding and interfaith tolerance among students. The study suggests that Qur’an-based and dialogical pedagogies can play a transformative role in Islamic education, particularly in universities and pesantren, to promote peace and religious moderation.

Abstract

The decline in student motivation and discipline in learning after the Covid-19 pandemic has become one of the major challenges in Islamic boarding school-based educational institutions. Many students have difficulty concentrating and maintaining their enthusiasm for learning. In this context, this study aims to examine the influence of the habit of reciting the Thariqah Naqsyabandiyah wirid on the formation of learning character among students at the Al-Quran Al-Falah Islamic Boarding School Foundation in West Java. A quantitative correlational method was used, involving 39 final-year students. Data was collected through questionnaires measuring the frequency of wirid and learning characteristics, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation test. The results of the study indicate a significant positive correlation between the practice of wirid and improvements in learning characteristics, including religiosity, discipline, honesty, hard work, and humility. Additionally, wirid provides a calming effect that enhances focus and mental readiness. These findings emphasize the importance of spiritual routines in supporting character development. Implications suggest that educational institutions can integrate wirid practices as a strategy for character formation and mental strengthening among students, particularly to address the negative impacts of the post-pandemic period on learning quality.
