Abstract

This study aims to investigate the Co-curricular role of the Islamic Education (PAI) Tutorial Program in strengthening the moderate character of students at public universities from the perspective of Emile Durkheim's collective social theory. A qualitative approach and case study method were chosen to investigate information from participants through documentation, interviews and observation. The data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, display, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study found that within a collective social framework, the PAI Tutorial Program policy is part of social responsibility that is rolled out rationally and strategically as a control effort carried out by the university by considering facts of religious understanding and behavior, as well as the phenomenon of radicalism. To strengthen the moderate character of students, this program is carried out consistently in objectives, materials, and activity units so as to support social functions through explanation and sharing of religious knowledge, role models, discipline, attitudes and open views, mutual respect and appreciation for differences of opinion, the attitude of accepting or rejecting views is based on strong arguments, and the strengthening of adab in the era of globalization. Meanwhile, to strengthen these social responsibilities and functions, this program fulfills two moral elements, namely being binding with the application of strict discipline.       Keywords:  Moderat Character, Co-curricular, Strengthening the Moderate Character

Abstract

Learning models play a vital role in supporting the achievement of learning objectives as conceptual frameworks that describe systematic procedures and guide designers.  This study aims to describe the ARKA Model (Aktivitas, Refleksi, Konseptualisasi, Aplikasi) in PAI learning at SMA Negeri Bandung through learning system theory, including planning, implementation, and evaluation. This research uses a qualitative approach and case study method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation, which are then analyzed through the reduction stage. This research found three essential things: (1) planning the use of the ARKA model in PAI learning consists of preparing lesson plans, which include objectives, materials, methods, media, and teaching resources. The curriculum used is the 2013 national curriculum. (2) The implementation of PAI learning using the ARKA model consists of four stages adapted to the syntax of this ARKA model: Activity, Reflection, Conceptualization, and Application. These four steps have been included in the core activities. (3) The evaluation of PAI learning using the ARKA model is divided into formative and summative evaluation. The evaluation results of the ARKA learning model in PAI learning positively impact students in improving their ability to think critically, communicate well, collaborate, and be creative.

Abstract

The decline in student motivation and discipline in learning after the Covid-19 pandemic has become one of the major challenges in Islamic boarding school-based educational institutions. Many students have difficulty concentrating and maintaining their enthusiasm for learning. In this context, this study aims to examine the influence of the habit of reciting the Thariqah Naqsyabandiyah wirid on the formation of learning character among students at the Al-Quran Al-Falah Islamic Boarding School Foundation in West Java. A quantitative correlational method was used, involving 39 final-year students. Data was collected through questionnaires measuring the frequency of wirid and learning characteristics, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation test. The results of the study indicate a significant positive correlation between the practice of wirid and improvements in learning characteristics, including religiosity, discipline, honesty, hard work, and humility. Additionally, wirid provides a calming effect that enhances focus and mental readiness. These findings emphasize the importance of spiritual routines in supporting character development. Implications suggest that educational institutions can integrate wirid practices as a strategy for character formation and mental strengthening among students, particularly to address the negative impacts of the post-pandemic period on learning quality.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurang optimalnya peran ekstrakurikuler Rohani Islam (ROHIS) dalam menjangkau dan membina seluruh siswa Muslim, terutama menghadapi tantangan sosial dan budaya yang kompleks. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis bagaimana optimalisasi peran ROHIS dapat menumbuhkan nilai-nilai Islam dan membentuk karakter religius siswa secara menyeluruh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, serta analisis data secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ROHIS seperti kajian keislaman, PHBI, tadabbur alam, PANJI, dan kajian Ramadhan mampu membentuk perilaku positif siswa, meningkatkan kedisiplinan dan pemahaman keagamaan, meskipun masih terdapat kendala seperti rendahnya partisipasi dan keterbatasan waktu. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan manajemen organisasi ROHIS serta dukungan sekolah dalam menciptakan kegiatan keagamaan yang kontekstual, menyenangkan, dan aplikatif sebagai upaya strategis dalam pendidikan karakter siswa berbasis nilai-nilai Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious character education through a fitrah-based educational approach at Sekolah Alam Al-Hakim. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, the research emphasizes an in-depth understanding of the contextual strategies used in shaping students’ religious character. Data were collected through interviews with school leaders, teachers, students, and parents, as well as through observation and documentation of learning activities. The findings reveal five key elements adopted by Sekolah Alam Al-Hakim to strengthen students’ religious character. First, the school applies Al-Ghazali’s Tazkiyatun Nafs framework in the learning process, consisting of three stages: takhalli (cleansing oneself from reprehensible traits), tahalli (instilling virtuous character), and tajalli (emergence of spiritual awareness). Second, the school integrates all learning activities as acts of devotion to God through a holistic approach, including daily class routines, evening school programs, super camps, nature exploration, and parental involvement. Third, the school’s curriculum aims to develop a holistic religious character encompassing students’ spiritual, social, and emotional aspects. Fourth, teachers play a central role as spiritual role models and guides, reinforcing the internalization of religious values. Fifth, the evaluation process focuses on character assessment through observation, student reflection, and parental engagement. This study recommends the adoption of a fitrah-based educational model as an effective and comprehensive approach to cultivating students’ religious character in a contextual and transformative manner. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi pendidikan karakter religius melalui pendekatan pendidikan berbasis fitrah di sekolah Alam Al-Hakim. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus yang menekankan pemahaman mendalam terhadap strategi pembentukan karakter religius siswa secara kontekstual. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan kepala sekolah, guru, siswa, dan orang tua, serta observasi dan dokumentasi kegiatan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lima poin utama yang diterapkan oleh sekolah Alam Al-Hakim dalam menguatkan karakter religius. Pertama, sekolah Alam Al-Hakim menerapkan pendekatan Tazkiyatun Nafs Al-Ghazali dalam pembelajarannya yaitu melalui tiga tahapan: takhalli (pengosongan diri dari sifat tercela), tahalli (pengisian dengan akhlak terpuji), dan tajalli (munculnya kesadaran spiritual). Kedua, mengintegrasikan semua kegiatan pembelajaran untuk mendekatkan diri kepada Allah, yaitu melalui pembelajaran yang holistik seperti kegiatan harian di kelas, sekolah malam, super camp, jelajah alam, dan sekolah orang tua. Ketiga, manfaat jangka panjang yang diterapkan kurikulum sekolah Al-Hakim bertujuan untuk  membentuk karakter religius yang utuh, mencakup aspek spiritual, sosial, dan emosional siswa. Keempat, memaksimalkan peran guru sebagai teladan dan pembimbing spiritual, sehingga turut memperkuat proses internalisasi nilai-nilai religius. Kelima, evaluasi yang dilakukan berfokus pada penilaian karakter yaitu melalui observasi sikap, refleksi siswa, dan keterlibatan orang tua. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan model pendidikan berbasis fitrah sebagai pendekatan yang efektif dalam membentuk karakter religius siswa secara menyeluruh dan kontekstual.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the purpose of education from the perspective of Omar Mohammad al-Toumy al-Syaibany and its implications for Islamic Religious Education Learning in Elementary Schools. This research uses a qualitative approach and literature study method. Based on the results of the study, the concept of Islamic education goals in al-Syaibany's perspective has a clear and comprehensive concept, the idea is very good if applied in learning Islamic Religious Education. The implications of both lie in the purpose of human life. where Islamic Religious Education aims to direct humans in achieving the true purpose of life, namely achieving happiness in the world and the hereafter. Both sources of education are the same, namely the Qur'an and Sunnah, which are the main references in the formulation of educational goals. The educational objectives of al-Syaibany's perspective also have implications for the planning, implementation and evaluation of Islamic Religious Education learning in schools. This is in line with the principles of Islamic education goals initiated by al-Syaibany which must be applied to the process of planning, implementing, and evaluating learning.

Abstract

Meaningful education demands active engagement between teachers and students through appropriate learning strategies. An effective learning process should consider the spiritual dimension as a core element in developing human potential. This study aims to explore spiritual-based learning strategies as presented in Ta’lim al-Muta’allim, a classical Islamic educational text by Shaykh al-Zarnuji. This research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Spiritual intelligence is viewed as an inner capacity to find meaning and values in life, connecting the individual to metaphysical reality and the Divine. The results reveal that the spiritual-based learning strategies found in the text include: (1) designing learning based on students’ real needs; (2) presenting materials in accordance with students’ level of understanding, supported by media such as inspirational videos and religious-social activities; (3) creating enjoyable and age-appropriate classroom environments through arts, play, or storytelling; and (4) assigning reflective tasks such as reading, writing, and internalizing lessons to enhance students’ understanding and application of the materials in daily life. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of spiritual values into classical pedagogical strategies, offering practical implications for strengthening students’ character and spiritual awareness in the context of contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

The reinforcement of Islamic Religious Education outside the classroom can utilize co-curricular activities to ensure the achievement of essential learning objectives, namely developing students' potential for faith, piety, and noble character. This study aims to analyze the role of tutorials in enhancing the religious practices of students at UPI, making this research important as it can provide solutions to address the shortage of classroom instructional hours. This research method is qualitative, with the subjects being the Head of the Tutorial Program, Lecturers, Tutors, and PAI participants. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis included reduction, presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that the reinforcement of religious practices is carried out through examples, encouragement, commands, practice, rewards, and the like. The material taught relates to the relationship with God (Habluminallah), the relationship with others (Habluminannas), and the relationship with the environment (Hablumin al-alam). The religious character formed strengthens individual religious commitment in worship or religious practice (the ritualistic dimension) and reinforces individual religious commitment in the dimension of effect or experience. This research implies the importance of responding to the limited classroom time for PAI in meeting the targeted PAI objectives through co-curricular programs to optimize these goals. Therefore, the researcher recommends efforts to enhance character formation or moral development through co-curricular activities in public schools and universities. Penguatan Pendidikan Agama Islam di luar kelas dapat menggunakan kegiatan kokurikuler guna memastikan tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran yang esensial yaitu mengembangkan potensi keimanan, ketakwaan, dan akhlak mulia mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Tutorial dalam meningkatkan amaliah keshalihan mahasiswa di kampus UPI. Sehingga, penelitian ini penting karena dapat memberikan solusi untuk mengatasi kekurangan jam pelajaran di kelas. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan responden Ketua Penyelenggara Tutorial, Dosen, Tutor, dan peserta PAI. Pengumpulan data dilalukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data meliputi reduksi, penyajian, verifikasi, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa penguatan amaliah keshalihan dilakukan melalui teladan, anjuran, suruhan dan perintah, latihan, hadiah dan sejenisnya. Materi yang diajarkan adalah yang berkaitan dengan Habluminallah, Habluminannas, dan Hablumin al-alam. Kemudian, karakter religius yang dibentuk adalah menguatkan komitmen religius individu ke dalam peribadatan atau praktek agama (the ritualistic dimension) dan menguatkan komitmen religius individu ke dalam dimensi effect atau pengalaman.Penelitian ini berimplikasi pada pentingnya merespon keterbatasan waktu PAI di kelas dalam memenuhi kebutuhan beban yang ditargetkan oleh PAI melalui program kokurikuler untuk mengoptimalkan tujuan secara optimal. Sehingga, peneliti merekomendasikan dilaksanakannya upaya peningkatan pembentukan karakter atau pembentukan akhlak melalui kegiatan kokurikuler di sekolah-sekolah umum dan perguruan tinggi umum.

Abstract

Learning models have an important role in achieving success in achieving goals. This study aims to examine the Challenge Based Learning model and compile its implementation in Islamic Religious Education Learning to Increase Student Religiosity as the core objective of Islamic Religious Education learning. The approach in this research uses a qualitative approach with the type of literature study. The data in this study were obtained from primary sources including Challenge Based Learning Guidelines, Textbooks, and Education Regulations in Indonesia. In addition, this study also took secondary sources from various relevant scientific journal articles. The data obtained was then analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The result of this study concludes that the Challenge Based Learning (CBL) model is an innovative approach that places learners as the main subject in designing real solutions to challenges relevant to their lives. CBL not only encourages active engagement, collaboration, and the development of 21st century competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration, but it is also very relevant to be implemented in Islamic Religious Education Learning to improve students' substantive religiosity. Through a systematic syntax, starting from the engage, explore, to act stages, CBL helps learners identify, analyze, and solve real problems reflectively and applicatively. Thus, the application of CBL in Islamic Religious Education learning has the potential to form a religious character that is not only symbolic, but also reflected in students' daily behavior, so as to overcome various phenomena of moral decline and religiosity in the current educational environment. Researchers in this case recommend further research in the form of implementing the Challenge Based Learning model in Islamic Religious Education Learning to Improve Students' Religious Attitudes.

Abstract

Islamic religious education in the modern era must be informative and transformational, namely, to be able to form students' religious character completely and sustainably. One of the key factors in the success of this transformation is self-efficacy, namely, students' belief in their ability to carry out religious values in everyday life. This study aims to examine how the role of self-efficacy is built through Islamic Religious Education learning that is designed contextually and applicatively. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The study subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and senior high school students implementing transformation-based learning in Bandung. The study results show that students' self-efficacy is formed through 1) a religious and supportive school environment, 2) a meaningful and contextual learning model, 3) consistent character guidance and habituation, and 4) disciplinary policies that support student self-control. Therefore, transformational Islamic Religious Education is effective in forming students' religious character if it synergistically involves all elements of the school to strengthen their self-efficacy in carrying out religious teachings consistently and consciously.
