Abstract

The rapid development of technology, especially in the twenty-first century driven by the exponential increase in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, has led humans to a new era that offers a variety of conveniences in various fields, including education. This study aims to analyze the practice of using AI in Islamic Education learning in schools, especially in elementary schools. The method used in this research is a qualitative method using a descriptive approach with purposive sampling as a reference for data collection to determine the use of artificial intelligence in Islamic Education learning. Respondents taken were Islamic Education teachers who have used AI in their learning with one year of experience and understand and use Artificial Intelligence both during planning and during learning. The results of the study found that the use of AI in the field of education is increasingly common in Indonesia. This is due to the support from the Education Department in conducting training on the use of AI, especially Gemini AI in schools. Teachers have also integrated AI into Islamic Education learning by using AI at every stage of learning, starting from creating modules, learning media, powerpoints, questions, quizzes, learning materials and many more. In conclusion, AI has been used in the teaching and learning process, especially in Islamic Education learning at school.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a strategic role in character development among students in the digital era, aiming to cultivate individuals with faith, piety, and noble character. This study explores the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating PAI into the digital era, highlighting issues such as the negative influence of social media, and lack of student focus. Utilizing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through interviews, and observations to gain insights into experiences and perceptions related to PAI in character building. The findings indicate that while technology can distract students, it also provides opportunities to enhance moral education through interactive digital tools, project-based learning, and the integration of Islamic values. Teachers’ proactive roles and collaboration with families and communities are essential in ensuring the effective implementation of PAI. The study concludes that adapting PAI with holistic strategies, combining technological integration and moral education, is crucial for fostering students' character in line with Islamic values.

Abstract

The realization of students who have the Pancasila Student Profile is the goal of the current government. The rise of the three big sins of education, intolerance, and lack of discipline in the environment of elementary school students is a threat to the disintegration of basic education from within. The government is trying to present Pancasila Student Profile learning through various learning media, one of which is through the open book of PAI and Budi Pekerti. The novelty of this research is that it tries to find the values of the Pancasila student profile in PAI and character education textbooks. The purpose of this study is to examine the content of the Pancasila student profile in PAI textbooks used in high schools. This research method uses a qualitative design of literature study. The data sources of this study are divided into two categories: primary and secondary. Primary data sources come from the triangulation process of high school PAI student books, high school PAI teacher books, and regulatory documents regarding PAI learning in high school. While secondary data sources come from several relevant journals. The collected data were then analyzed in accordance with the stages of content analysis. The findings of this study indicate that Pancasila student profiles in PAI textbooks in high school have the most information, especially the dimensions of faith, devotion to God Almighty, and noble character. The values of each Pancasila student profile are explicitly and implicitly stated in each chapter of the PAI textbook. This study emphasizes that Islamic Religious Education, as one of the subjects mandated by the government, encourages the birth of students who have Pancasila student profiles. The implication of this research suggests that in the future teachers can find out the content of the Pancasila student profile in Islamic Education textbooks so that they can teach the content of the Pancasila student profile optimally

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Islamic Religious Education learning models on moral elements in senior high schools, emphasizing teachers’ and students’ perceptions. Unlike previous studies that focus solely on learning models or moral education, this research uniquely examines the alignment between teacher-implemented models and student expectations, using Joyce and Weil’s learning model framework. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three PAI teachers in West Bandung Regency and open-ended questionnaires from 120 students. Findings reveal that teachers attempt to integrate structured learning models; however, challenges persist, including variations in student backgrounds, limited teacher comprehension of moral content, and difficulties in classroom management. Students expect learning to be relevant, flexible, interactive, and technology-integrated, yet gaps remain between these expectations and current teaching practices. Key elements of the Joyce and Weil model—syntax, social systems, reaction principles, and support systems—are not comprehensively implemented across the studied schools. This study contributes to the development of PAI learning by offering structured insights into improving instructional models systematically. It recommends targeted strategies for teachers to enhance instructional effectiveness and suggests future research employing a larger sample with a quantitative approach to further validate these findings.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the design of Islamic education based on human fitrah through an analysis of the Fitrah Education concept by Harry Santosa. This research was conducted using a literature review method, which involved collecting data from various sources such as books, journals, and other literature. The collected data was then analyzed through several stages, including abstraction, interpretation, and conclusion. The findings indicate that the design of Islamic education based on fitrah, as developed by Harry Santosa, involves several key components. First, educational objectives must align with the mission of human creation. Second, the development of students' characteristics is carried out based on eight dimensions of fitrah. Third, the learning method utilizes an operational framework table. Fourth, the implementation of a reflection journal serves as an evaluation system. Theoretically, these findings enrich the study of Islamic education by providing a more holistic perspective on understanding students' fitrah potential. Educational institutions can adapt this concept into their curriculum and learning strategies to create an educational environment that better suits students' natural needs. This approach is expected to shape individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also aware of their role and responsibilities as caliphs on earth.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the quality of Islamic Religious Education Teachers at the elementary and junior high school levels under the auspices of the Sumedang Regency Education Office, West Java, Indonesia. Using a mixed-method approach and data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews and questionnaires analyzed using NVivo software, it was found that the competencies of Islamic Religious Education teachers do not yet fully meet the expected standards. The research findings identified five main forms of competencies: personality, pedagogical, professional, social, and spiritual, with several aspects within each dimension that still need improvement. Exemplary behavior, innovative teaching methods, learning motivation, communication skills, and religious understanding emerged as the primary areas of weakness identified. This study recommends the need for more contextual and sustainable competency development strategies to enhance the overall quality of Islamic Religious Education teachers in line with contemporary challenges and the needs of students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore high school students' views on fasting and their experiences in receiving fasting education, using a transmission pedagogic perspective. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design and successfully explored 139 students' experiences through questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed with the help of NVivo 12 software, which facilitated the data tabulation process. The data analysis process was carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students get information about fasting and its values, but they only believe the information conveyed by credible subjects, who are able to practice fasting well and become role models for them. Environmental conditioning with structured fasting education programs, reinforced by harmonious collaboration between religious teachers, parents, and religious preachers, provides opportunities for students to gain insight into fasting as well as opportunities to practice the practice of fasting. In addition, the reinforcement received by students further boosts their motivation to fast. However, the influence of the peer environment, social media, and the lack of role models in daily life reduce students' intrinsic motivation and hinder the consistency of their character in carrying out the practice of fasting continuously.

Abstract

Islamic religious education in the modern era must be informative and transformational, namely, to be able to form students' religious character completely and sustainably. One of the key factors in the success of this transformation is self-efficacy, namely, students' belief in their ability to carry out religious values in everyday life. This study aims to examine how the role of self-efficacy is built through Islamic Religious Education learning that is designed contextually and applicatively. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The study subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and senior high school students implementing transformation-based learning in Bandung. The study results show that students' self-efficacy is formed through 1) a religious and supportive school environment, 2) a meaningful and contextual learning model, 3) consistent character guidance and habituation, and 4) disciplinary policies that support student self-control. Therefore, transformational Islamic Religious Education is effective in forming students' religious character if it synergistically involves all elements of the school to strengthen their self-efficacy in carrying out religious teachings consistently and consciously.
