Abstract

Introduction: COVID-19 vaccination is the government's priority to control viral transmission. Drive-through system provides quick means of product or service delivery; however, it has not been extensively adopted as a vaccination method. This study aims to describe the implementation of the drive-through COVID-19 vaccination conducted by the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada in collaboration with several national and regional, governmental and non-governmental institutions. Methods: The drive-through vaccination involved online registration, data collecting, reporting, on-site dose preparation, injection, and post-vaccination monitoring while participants remained in their vehicles. The events were scheduled between July and September 2021 in either FK-KMK UGM Campus or Grha Sabha Pramana, UGM. These venues are on the inner property side of UGM, therefore is no disruption of public traffic. Participants who are eligible and receive an invitation may attend the immunization venue according to the schedule. Results: In ten vaccination events, 20,870 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered. Most participants were young people, with slightly more women than men. The drive-through vaccination went relatively well and offered many benefits such as improving vaccine coverage, time efficiency, social distancing, and herd immunity. Yet, issues like mild Adverse events following immunization and an accumulation of vehicles occurred. Therefore, careful planning and risk anticipation are necessary. Conclusion: The drive-through vaccination generally provides rapid and safe vaccine delivery to large communities. This method could be an alternative to delivering mass vaccinations requiring rapid and extensive coverage.

Abstract

Meropenem is a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic widely used in intensive care units (ICUs) for severe bacterial infections. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is essential to optimize its dosing, ensuring effective bacterial eradication while minimizing toxicity and resistance. This study aimed to determine meropenem concentrations in human plasma using LC-MS/MS and evaluate its application in TDM for ICU patients. Meropenem concentrations in plasma samples from ICU patients were analysed using a validated liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method. The study included 40 plasma samples from 20 patients receiving meropenem continuous infusion. Validation followed ICH M10 (2022) guidelines, assessing specificity, accuracy, precision, stability, and dilution integrity. The developed LC-MS/MS method demonstrated high selectivity, sensitivity, and linearity (r = 0.9930.996) over the 102000 ng/mL range. Accuracy and precision met ICH M10 acceptance criteria, with %CV 15%. All ICU patients maintained %fTMinimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) 40%, ensuring adequate bacterial eradication. Notably, patients with renal impairment required dose adjustments, while those with high creatinine clearance needed increased dosing. The validated LC-MS/MS method is suitable for meropenem TDM in ICU patients, allowing individualized dosing adjustments to optimize therapy.

Abstract

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a medical condition marked by disturbances in motor, sensory, and autonomic functions in the affected extremities, which may occur with or without trauma. The prevalence of CRPS is approximately 2–5% in adults, with a higher incidence in females. Annually, CRPS affects between 5.4 and 26.2 individuals per 100,000 population. The diagnosis of CRPS presents a significant clinical challenge, as its symptoms often mimic those of other conditions, frequently leading to misdiagnosis. A thorough understanding of CRPS and its diagnostic criteria is crucial for clinicians, as accurate diagnosis directly affects treatment selection and outcomes. An effective management approach should encompass the four foundational pillars of CRPS therapy, i.e., education and information for the patients, pain management including both pharmacologic and pain intervention approaches, vocational and physical rehabilitation, and psychological interventions. A comprehensive and individualized treatment strategy is crucial to achieving optimal outcomes. When inadequately treated, CRPS can have profound effects on the physical, emotional, social, and quality-of-life (QoL) aspects, as well as the financial well-being, of both patients and their families. Given the relatively high prevalence of CRPS, the diagnostic complexity, and the broad implications for patient care and QoL, a thorough review of the existing knowledge and treatment strategies for CRPS is warranted. This review aims to provide clinicians with the latest information on diagnosing and managing CRPS, thereby supporting timely and effective clinical decision-making. Accurate diagnosis and appropriate therapy are expected to yield positive outcomes for the patients and their families.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the merdeka curriculum in Islamic education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Hidayah Betoyo Kauman Gresik using Tyler’s goal-oriented evaluation model, focusing on cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes. Employing a quantitative descriptive–evaluative design, data were collected from 74 students through structured questionnaires and assessment rubrics aligned with curriculum objectives. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to examine students’ competency achievement across the three domains. The findings reveal high achievement in the cognitive (M = 82.47) and psychomotor (M = 85.12) domains, while affective achievement reached a moderately high level (M = 79.65). The study concludes that the merdeka curriculum effectively supports holistic learning in Islamic primary education, although continuous reinforcement is recommended to strengthen affective development through reflective and value-based instructional strategies.
