Abstract

Adherence to medication is a crucial aspect in blood pressure control, which in turn leads to a reduction in the incidence of cardiovascular disease and medical costs. The aim of the study was to determine medication and lifestyle modifications adherence to blood pressure control among hypertensive patients in a public health center. The method of the study used a cross-sectional involving participants with primary hypertension at the Community Health Centre. One hundred respondents were recruited through consecutive sampling methods. Hypertensive patients aged 40 to 74 years who has been taking antihypertensive drugs for at least two months were approved, while hypertensive patients with cormobid and patients with communicative or behavioral impairments were excluded. The instruments used was the TAQPH, which consists of six factors: medication, diet, stimulus, weight control, physical exercise, and stress management. Blood pressure measurements were conducted using a mercury sphygmomanometer. The data was examined with the chi-squared statistical test. Twenty-five (75%) of the patients who demonstrated high levels of adherence had controlled blood pressure. In contrast, 24 (75.0%) patients with medium adherence and 29 (82.9%) patients with low adherence demonstrated uncontrolled blood pressure. A significant correlation was observed between the level of therapy adherence and blood pressure in hypertensive patients (p = 0.001). Patients with low to moderate levels of adherence have uncontrolled blood pressure, whereas those with high levels of adherence have controlled blood pressure.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cardiovascular disease represents a significant global health concern, with Indonesia being a country particularly affected by this condition. Data from the United States indicates that coronary heart disease is the leading cause of mortality, accounting for more than 40% of all deaths. Concurrently, data from Indonesia indicates a yearly escalation in the prevalence of heart disease. According to the most recent data, heart disease is responsible for 19 million deaths per year, making it the second leading cause of mortality after stroke and cancer. There exists a multitude of risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD), including, but not limited to, obesity and physical inactivity. A surge in obesity rates has been observed in Indonesia. The results of the 2018 Riskesdas study indicated that 33.5% of the Indonesian population exhibited inadequate levels of physical activity. Determine the correlation between BMI, physical activity, and the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) at the Mojolangu Health Center in Malang City. An observational, analytic research design was used with a cross-sectional approach and a rule-of-thumb sampling technique to obtain 50 respondents for the study. Inclusion criteria for this study are respondents who have hypertension and are 40 years old. There is a significant correlation between BMI and CHD risk, as assessed using FRS (p=0.000, r=0.972). There was also a significant correlation between physical activity and CHD risk, with p = 0.000 and r = -0.768. There is a significant relationship between higher BMI and higher CHD risk. Regarding physical activity, the lower the level of activity, the higher the risk of CHD. Keywords: Body Mass Index, Cardiovascular Disease, Physical Activity.

Abstract

This community engagement research aims to build collective awareness among young people regarding the dangers of money laundering (TPPU) and terrorism financing (TPPT) through the “Diskusi Kontemporer GEMA APUPPT” program at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia (UNUSIA). The program is designed as a literacy and advocacy movement that positions students not merely as objects of socialization, but as agents of change. The study employs a participatory action research approach with mixed methods, using pre-test and post-test instruments, participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The activities involve cross-stakeholder collaboration, including PPATK, financial institutions, and the academic community. The findings indicate a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and critical attitudes toward the concepts, modes, and impacts of TPPU/TPPT, alongside the growth of legal and ethical awareness grounded in Aswaja values and maqāṣid al-sharīʿah. Students began to demonstrate the ability to identify suspicious transaction patterns in digital spaces, refuse invitations to become money mules, and promote integrity-based financial practices through digital campaigns. This study concludes that the GEMA APUPPT model is effective as a prototype of a campus youth movement for the prevention of TPPU/TPPT and has the potential to be replicated in other higher education institutions as part of a national education program against financial crime.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Diabetic ulcers are a complication of diabetes that causes hard-to-heal wounds on the feet. Betel leaf contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients that have the potential to accelerate wound healing. Objective: This study aims to test the effect of irrigation with red betel leaf decoction on diabetic ulcers. Methods: Quasi-experimental study with 14 patients in Rumah Perawatan Luka Diabetik of Malang City, divided into intervention (red betel leaf irrigation + Modern Dressing treatment) and control (NaCl irrigation + Modern Dressing treatment) groups. Wound evaluation using Bates-Jensen before and after intervention. Results: Wound scores were significantly reduced in the intervention group from 29.29 to 19.57, (p=0.000) and control from 30.71 to 22.86, (p=0.022). The post-intervention difference was not statistically significant (p=0.324), but the intervention group indicated a greater clinical reduction. Conclusion: Irrigation with red betel leaf decoction effectively improves diabetic ulcers and is clinically equivalent to NaCl irrigation plus modern treatments, potentially as an effective therapeutic alternative.
