Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of a play-based sequential training method on the fundamental technical skills of Tarung Derajat fighters. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest approach was employed. The research population consisted of 263 male Tarung Derajat athletes at Kurata III (green belt) level in West Sumatra. A purposive sampling technique was used to select 40 athletes as research participants. The instrument used is a validated and reliable Fighter Basic Skills Test with a reliability value of 0.96 and validity ranging from 0.71–0.85. Data were analyzed using a t-test to determine differences in technical skill performance before and after the training intervention. The results revealed that the calculated t value (15.53) exceeded the critical t value (2.093) at a 0.05 significance level, indicating a significant effect of the intervention. Furthermore, the mean score of fundamental technical skills increased from 54.70 in the pretest to 56.47 in the posttest. These findings demonstrate that play-based sequential training significantly improves fundamental technical skills in Tarung Derajat fighters. This training approach is considered effective as it provides dynamic, contextual, and game-like practice conditions that closely resemble real combat situations.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the improvement of the character of karate extracurricular participants through the implementation of karate values in the activity, as well as to compare differences in children's character before and after participating in training for 3 months. The research method used is qualitative with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation, and the validity of the data is tested by triangulation. The results showed that the application of karate values was successful in shaping the character of extracurricular participants. Training ceremonies, discipline, and playtime activities are well integrated, making the child happy and not bored. Karate vows also have a positive impact, such as increased personality, honesty, fighting power, ethics, and self-control. The implementation of the first karate vow succeeded in improving the child's personality by increasing social interaction and mutual respect. Although character still needs to be improved, character education through karate helps parents in imparting positive values to children. The second karate vow, which emphasizes honesty, is reflected in the child's courage to admit his mistakes. While the third to fifth karate vows, which emphasize achievement, courtesy, and self-control, are also successfully applied and improve the child's character in a better direction. Thus, this study concluded that the implementation of karate values in extracurricular exercises is able to shape children's character, including aspects of personality, honesty, fighting power, ethics, and self-control.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the MMC-Circuit Model, a Tarung Derajat training approach designed to improve athletes’ technical skills and discipline. The model is based on the philosophy of Muscle, Mind, and Conscience, integrating technical, physical, and mental components into a structured 12-station circuit training format. The research involved 20 athletes in a small-scale trial and 40 athletes in a large-scale trial over eight weeks. Quantitative results showed significant improvements in athletes’ technical performance, with punching and kicking skills increasing by 19–21%, and a reduction in rule violations by 55%. The model’s overall feasibility was rated 91% (very feasible) by experts. The t-test analysis indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest results (p < 0.05), while correlation tests showed a strong negative relationship (r = –0.721) between rule compliance and the number of violations. Qualitative feedback revealed enhanced confidence, focus, motivation, and understanding of competition ethics among athletes. These findings demonstrate that the MMC-Circuit Model effectively enhances technical skills, physical readiness, and discipline, while promoting the core values of Tarung Derajat. The model provides a practical, holistic, and sustainable framework for developing athletes in free-fight competitions.

Abstract

Dribbling ability is one of the techniques that futsal players must have. The small field area requires players to have good dribbling skills in attacking, both when passing opponents and accelerating into the opponent's defense area. This study was conducted to determine the effect of speed, flexibility, and agility on dribbling ability. This type of research is quantitative research using the path analysis method. The population in this study was 25 Vamos Futsal Academy players. The sampling technique used a purposive sampling technique, resulting in a sample of 16 people. The instruments used in this study were 1) a 20-meter speed test, to measure speed, 2) a Sit and Reach Test, to measure flexibility, 3) a Zig-zag Run Test, to measure agility, and 4) a Slalom Dribbling Test, to measure a player's dribbling ability. The test results were analyzed using path analysis techniques to determine the pattern of relationships between variables. Data analysis includes several stages, namely: Data description, Normality test, and Linearity test. Path analysis was conducted to identify the extent of influence of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The results showed that speed, flexibility, and agility contributed 95.3% to dribbling ability. Meanwhile, 4.7% was influenced by other variables not included in this study. Therefore, it can be concluded that speed, flexibility, and agility are important factors that directly influence the dribbling ability of futsal players.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari performa tim bola voli SMK Negeri 1 Padang Gelugur yang belum menunjukkan peningkatan berarti selama lima tahun terakhir, ditandai dengan absennya pencapaian gemilang dalam ajang kompetisi tingkat kecamatan dan kabupaten. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi tingkat keterampilan dasar, khususnya servis atas, passing bawah, dan passing atas, pada siswa putra yang tergabung dalam kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bola voli. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan melibatkan 15 peserta sebagai sampel. Kegiatan penelitian berlangsung pada 4 April 2026 dengan memanfaatkan instrumen pengukuran dari Richard H. Cox, yaitu AAHPER serving accuracy test, AAHPER face wall-volley test, dan Brumbach forearm pass wall-volley. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan servis atas didominasi oleh kategori cukup, disusul kategori baik dan kurang. Untuk passing bawah, sebagian besar siswa berada pada kategori cukup hingga baik. Adapun passing atas juga menunjukkan dominasi kategori cukup dengan distribusi tambahan pada kategori baik, kurang, dan sangat kurang. Secara umum, keterampilan teknik dasar siswa masih berada pada tingkat menengah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan power otot lengan terhadap kemampuan servis tenis lapangan atlet HITEC. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain one group pre-test dan post-test. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 6 orang atlet. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Hewitt Tennis Serve Test untuk mengukur kemampuan servis. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t setelah memenuhi uji normalitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan servis, terlihat dari rata-rata nilai post-test (20,2) yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan pre-test (13,7). Hasil uji t menunjukkan nilai t hitung sebesar 2,579 lebih besar dari t tabel 2,015 pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa latihan power otot lengan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan servis tenis lapangan. Dengan demikian, latihan power otot lengan dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu metode latihan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan servis atlet

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan plyometric terhadap kemampuan smash atlet bola voli ekstrakurikuler di SMK Negeri 1 Lintau Buo. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan desain one group pre-test and post-test. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 7 atlet putra yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan smash yang mengacu pada Nurhasan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas dan dilanjutkan dengan uji paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan smash, ditandai dengan nilai rata-rata pre-test sebesar 2,43 meningkat menjadi 3,00 pada post-test. Hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh nilai t_hitung = 2,291 lebih besar dari t_tabel = 1,943 pada taraf signifikansi α = 0,05, sehingga menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa latihan plyometric berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan smash atlet bola voli. Latihan ini direkomendasikan sebagai bagian dari program pembinaan untuk meningkatkan performa atlet secara optimal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara status gizi yang diukur melalui Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) dengan kecepatan renang gaya bebas 100 meter pada atlet Maninjau Swimming Club, Kabupaten Agam, Sumatera Barat. Penelitian menggunakan desain kuantitatif korelasional cross-sectional dengan subjek 13 atlet aktif usia 9–19 tahun. Pengukuran meliputi berat badan, tinggi badan, IMT, dan waktu tempuh renang gaya bebas 100 meter. Analisis statistik menggunakan korelasi Pearson, regresi linear sederhana, dan uji t independen dengan bantuan Microsoft Excel 2019. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat korelasi positif yang sangat kuat dan signifikan antara IMT dengan kecepatan renang (r = 0,7651; t hitung = 3,9402 > t tabel = 1,7959; p < 0,05). Berat badan (BB) juga berkorelasi signifikan (r = 0,7634), sementara tinggi badan (TB) tidak signifikan (r = 0,4645). IMT berkontribusi sebesar 58,53% terhadap variasi kecepatan renang (R² = 0,5853) dengan model regresi Ŷ = 0,6909 + 0,0344X. Distribusi status gizi menunjukkan 46,15% atlet berada dalam kategori kurus dengan rata-rata kecepatan terendah (1,1677 m/s), sedangkan atlet kategori normal mencatat rata-rata 1,4128 m/s. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa status gizi merupakan faktor penting yang berpengaruh terhadap performa renang gaya bebas 100 meter atlet usia muda di Indonesia.

Abstract

Study purpose. This study was conducted to determine whether the Sport Education Model can improve volleyball learning outcomes among eighth-grade students. In many physical education classes, instruction still relies heavily on teacher-centered approaches, which often limit students’ active involvement. As a result, students may have fewer opportunities to develop both their skills and motivation. Materials and methods. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group setup. A total of 64 students from SMP Negeri 32 Padang participated in the research, with 32 students assigned to the experimental group and the remaining 32 placed in the control group. The study followed three main stages: pretest, treatment, and posttest. At the beginning, both groups were given a pretest to measure their initial abilities in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. The experimental group then received instruction through the Sport Education Model, which emphasizes teamwork, student roles, and game-based activities. The control group received traditional instruction that mainly relied on explanations and repetitive practice. After the treatment period, both groups were given a posttest. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. Results. The findings revealed that the experimental group showed greater progress compared to the control group. Improvements were seen in understanding, skill performance, and participation. Statistical testing confirmed that the difference between the two groups was significant. Conclusion. The Sport Education Model proved effective in enhancing volleyball learning outcomes. Approaches that encourage active participation and teamwork appear to provide better learning experiences and outcomes for students.

Abstract

This research addresses gaps by developing a holistic training model that integrates essential elements for optimal tennis performance. The study explores how physical conditioning can enhance agility, speed, and overall performance of junior athletes aged 14 to 16, focusing on forehand drive. The aim is to provide insights for coaches and players by integrating physical and technical training to improve performance. The scope includes evaluating the effectiveness of a forehand drive training program supplemented with speed and agility exercises for junior tennis players. An experimental one-group pre-test-post-test design was employed. Eleven tennis athletes from the Nusalima Tennis Academy participated. Speed was measured using a 20-meter sprint, and agility was calculated using the 505 Agility Test. The training program spanned 12 sessions over four weeks. Statistical analysis included mean, standard deviation, normality tests, and t-tests. Pre-test and post-test results showed significant improvements in speed and agility. The t-test values indicated statistical significance, confirming the effectiveness of the forehand drive training model. Players demonstrated enhanced neuromuscular adaptation, muscle strength, coordination, and reaction time. The study concludes that the forehand drive training model significantly improves speed and agility in junior tennis players. The findings support the theory that focused and structured training enhances physical abilities and performance. Additionally, the research highlights the long-term health benefits of intensive tennis training, such as improved cardiovascular health and overall fitness. The training model can be widely applied to develop well-rounded athletes in tennis programs.
