Abstract

This research aims to identify the oral tradition of internalizing smong wisdom, recognized as successful in saving the people of Simeulue, Aceh, Indonesia, during the 2004 tsunami disaster. It employs a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews with 30 informants comprising traditional leaders and community members knowledgeable about smong local wisdom. Data analysis utilizes thematic analysis. The research findings reveal that the ancestors of the Simeulue people internalized smong local wisdom through oral culture, which held significant literary value since 1907. The internalization of smong wisdom is evident through its transmission across generations, reflected in the community's smong narrative during disasters and using mananga-nanga, manafi-nafi, and nandong as educational tools. Based on insights from the informants, including traditional leaders and community members, they affirmed the widespread practice and knowledge of smong wisdom across all age groups in Simeulue. They utilize mananga-nanga (lullabies) for infants under five years old, manafi-nafi (folktales) for the general public, and nandong (songs) at specific events of special conditions. The informants of this study believe that instilling the values of local wisdom from an early age fosters collective memory, which can be easily recalled and applied by future generations. This facilitates the efficient transfer of local wisdom values in line with the ancestors’ expectations. Internally, within local communities, internalization occurs traditionally through oral culture.

Abstract

Cooling towers serve as an important tool in industrial settings to reduce heat in machines that use water and air as working media, this process involves hot water generated from the machine coming into direct contact with air resulting in a small portion of the water evaporating which then reduces its temperature. Although previous research has attempted to improve the performance of cooling towers, there is still considerable scope for further exploration in achieving optimal results. One way to improve it is to adjust and change the flow of distributing fluid media by adding the number of holes on the flat plate of the cooling tower. Based on this phenomenon, the researcher wants to examine the magnitude of the heat transfer impact on a multi-storey cooling tower using triangular perforated flat plates with varying numbers of holes. The overall height of the cooling tower is 2.4 meters, consisting of five flat plates arranged in stages with each flat plate dimension having a length of 0.7 meters and a width of 0.5 meters, having a plate area of 3.5 m² with a tilt angle of each plate arrangement on the cooling tower which is 15 °. The number of holes in a given flat plate is 45, 55, and 65 holes, while the inlet water temperature is set at 80°C, 85°C, and 90°C. The results of this study revealed that the number of holes 65 showed a greater heat transfer effect compared to the other variations. Consequently, the number of holes significantly affects the heat transfer coefficient, thus impacting the overall performance of the multistage cooling tower.

Abstract

Abstract: The study focuses on modeling the transformation of the Acehnese economy through the harmonization of the concept of halal tourism with the creative economy. The study uses a qualitative descriptive analytical method with data collection techniques through observation and documentation. The data analysis refers to interactive analysis techniques that begin with data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and data verification. The results of the study identified that the development of a grand model of halal tourism and the creative economy in Aceh is not just an effort to advance the tourism and economic sectors. But it is a strategic step in creating a sustainable inclusive economy. The synergy between these two sectors has great potential in creating a sustainable ecosystem. The key to the success of this transformation lies in the harmonization of elements of Islamic law, arts and culture, history, natural beauty, and digitalization that complement each other in building an authentic and meaningful tourism experience. Islamic values provide moral and ethical direction, local culture enriches the tourist experience with invaluable uniqueness, historical elements increase inspiration, while digitalization paves the way for wider marketing and higher operational efficiency. However, the journey towards achieving this grand vision faces a number of challenges that need to be overcome such as limited infrastructure that hinders accessibility, minimal empowerment of human resources that slows down the management of halal tourism professionally, weak coordination between the government and stakeholders. There are also challenges in maintaining the consistency of halal values, the existence of development conflicts that have the potential to threaten environmental conservation, including the difficulty of business actors in adapting local cultural values to the growing halal tourism market. Research findings contribute to economic development that is not only financially profitable, but also pays attention to social diversity and environmental sustainability. Keywords: grand model; halal tourism; creative economy; inclusive economy; Aceh.

Abstract

Based on the results of the Field Study at the Bengkalis State Polytechnic Machine Tool Workshop practice, duringthe metal cutting machining process, there is an interaction between the tool and the workpiece. The friction experienced bythe tool is caused by the flowing grunt surface and the surface of the workpiece that has been cut. As a result of this friction, the tool suffers from wear. The wear of this tool will increase to a certain extent. The length of time it takes to reach this wearlimit is defined as tool life. The factors that affect tool wear are temperature and cooling media on the average value of aresponse. From the data, it can be seen that the decrease in wear from temperature from 800 to 1000 0C there is a significantdecrease in the average response. For the refrigerant media factor, the difference in influence between salt, bromus oil, andSAE 20 oil was also seen, where salt provided the highest average HSS tool wear value, followed by bromus oil, and the lowest wear was SAE 20 oil of 0.066 mm. This indicates that the tool wear is lower and the tool is harder than the tool before heattreatment quanching at 1000 °C
