Abstract

Abstract. Science learning is inseparable from practice activities or experiments. A laboratory is a facility to promote these activities. During distance learning, laboratory activities could be promoted at home. This research aims to portray the students' activities during the laboratory practice and to find out the students’ perceptions about the laboratory practice and take-home laboratory practice. The applied method was a survey followed by 80 physics education students of Universitas Pattimura. This research also interviewed three lecturers of the program. Before distributing the questionnaire, the question items were validated in terms of the content. Then, the researchers also examined the reliability of the questionnaire. The findings showed that students did the laboratory practice as they frequently did. They started by having a pretest and ended with a posttest. They also created temporal reports and practical reports for the following meetings. The students were interested in the practice activities because they believed these activities could make them having various skills. Some students recognized the term, take-home practice, by using any surrounding tools and materials. However, most students still considered that laboratory activities should have been done in the laboratory.

Abstract

This study aims to describe physics teachers' ability to represent their content knowledge and pedagogy on classical mechanics concept using a CoRe framework in teaching practice, and to figure out their ability to develop the CoRe according to the length of teaching experiences, educational levels, and gender. The data were collected by reviewing the CoRe documents created by 40 high school physics teachers in Central Java and the Yogyakarta Special Region as a part of in-service training activities. The RASCH model was employed to analyze the research data, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study revealed that teachers were able to develop the CoRe with high qualification (76,1%). There was no teacher with poor and even fail categories. The ability to develop the CoRe will support them in designing a classroom learning. The aspect that requires improvement is the statement about outlining the material structures that will be delivered to students based on their mastery levels. The findings employing the DIF analysis showed that the length of teaching experiences had an effect on differences in the ability to develop the CoRe on the aspects of big idea development, material choices and sequences of delivery. Nevertheless, the ability of male and female teachers to develop CoRe is relatively similar. Meanwhile, physics teachers with master degree have better identification skills and procedures for the significance of big idea development than those with bachelor degree do.

Abstract

One of the government's efforts to support 21st century education is by implementing a new education program known as the independent learning program, one of which is driving schools. One of the dimensions of the Pancasila student profile in driving schools is that students must be able to think creatively. In developing creative thinking skills, students must be active in the learning process so teachers need to design learning patterns that can involve students being active in order to influence creative thinking abilities. The research design used was a pre-experimental design with a one group pre test-post test design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 45 students. The data collection technique uses tests and observations which are analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis and simple linear regression analysis. The research results showed that 76% of students were able to reach the medium level creative category, namely in the aspects of flexibility, originality and elaboration. Student activities in project-based learning have a significant effect on students' creative thinking abilities. The influence of student activities in project-based learning on creative thinking skills is 21.1% with a significance level of 0.002 <0.05. There is a positive correlation between student activities in project-based learning and creative thinking abilities. For every 1% increase in student activity scores in project-based learning, the creative thinking ability score increases by 1.440.
