Abstract

This research aims to determine: (1) To examine the differences in increasing representational abilities and mathematical learning independence for students who are given learning using the activity elicitation model and students who are given scientific learning. (2) To learn about the process of responding to kids who learn utilizing the activity elicitation approach. Those who approach learning scientifically. This is an example of experimental study. This study's population consisted of all pupils in class VIII of SMP Asy-Syafiiyah Medan, and the research sample was drawn at random from two classes. The study's findings indicate that (1) beginning mathematics abilities have an impact on students' mathematical representation abilities and (2) abilities have an impact. Students' independence in early mathematical learning. The increase in mathematical representation abilities of students who get MEA learning and those who receive scientific approach learning differs. (2) Using the eliciting events learning model to complete student answers is superior to learning using a scientific approach. Thus, scientifically based learning activity elicitation models can be employed as an alternative in learning mathematics to increase mathematical representation abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to use the Rasch model stacking analysis technique to assess students' statistical reasoning abilities in descriptive statistics learning utilizing a TinkerPlots-assisted ethnomathematics approach in Nias cultural environment. This research is a quasi-experimental study that uses pre-and post-test control group designs. The stacking technique is used to examine how students' statistical reasoning abilities change in the presence of the intervention. The sample for this study is students in the 12th year at Gunungsitoli High School in the Nias Islands, Sumatera Utara region. Students are administered an exam that consists of five essay questions. Their responses are evaluated using a rubric that incorporates diagnostic criteria and a response certainty index. The data is analyzed using the Rasch Partial Credit Model with WINTSTEPS 4.5.5. The results indicate that students in the experimental group improved their statistical reasoning abilities more than students in the control group when they used TinkerPlots-assisted ethnomathematics in Nias cultural environment (the group with an ordinary learning approach). Along with the intervention, it is discovered that changes in student learning capacities are achievable in some situations due to pupils receiving the correct response or cheating. In other circumstances, pupils who undergo negative changes may respond inappropriately due to carelessness, boredom, or misconceptions. Additionally, these findings demonstrate that some children provide correct responses following intervention on certain items. According to the findings of this study, stacking analysis approaches are critical for describing each change in student abilities as a result of each person and each item.

Abstract

This research aims to review the critical thinking skills of Junior High School (SMP) students in solving mathematics literacy problems integrated with Malay culture. Critical thinking skills are an important aspect of mathematics education because they train students to analyze, evaluate, and solve contextual problems logically and reflectively. The integration of Malay culture in mathematics literacy questions is intended to enhance the relevance of the problem context to students' lives and strengthen local cultural identity. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with subjects being eighth-grade students at one of the junior high schools located in the Malay cultural area. Data were obtained through a Malay culture-based mathematical literacy test and semi-structured interviews. The analysis results show that most students are able to identify important information from the questions, but still have difficulty in deeply connecting mathematical concepts with cultural contexts and in drawing logical conclusions. These findings highlight the importance of developing contextual and culturally-based literacy questions as a means to enhance students' critical thinking skills in mathematics education.

Abstract

This study examines the background of problem-solving ability and creative attitudes among junior high school students, highlighting their importance in fostering innovation and critical thinking in mathematics education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of problem-solving ability on students' creative attitudes. The classroom process is a learning process that develops local instructional theories for the material of systems of linear equations in two variables. The quantitative study aims to assess the influence of problem-solving ability on students' creative attitudes. This study involved 24 junior high school students in Medan as a sample. The instruments used were a validated problem-solving ability test and a validated creative attitude scale. The results showed that problem-solving ability has a significant positive effect on students' creative attitudes, with a regression coefficient of 0.951, indicating that greater problem-solving ability is associated with stronger creative attitudes. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.597) indicates that 59.7% of the variation in students' creative attitudes is due to problem-solving ability. In contrast, friendship (40.3%) is due to other factors not examined in this study. These findings suggest that problem-solving ability is a key factor in developing creative attitudes. This study highlights the need to integrate problem-solving ability into the educational curriculum to foster students' creative attitudes. Future research should consider using a larger sample size.

Abstract

Abstract

Specifically, it examines (1) the feasibility of using these digital books and (2) their practicality digital books in a real classroom setting. The research follows Plomp's development model, which includes three stages: initial investigation, development or prototyping, and assessment. The study focuses on class X students at SMK Taman Siswa Binjai. To gather data, questionnaires were distributed to media and material experts to evaluate the feasibility of the digital book learning media. Additionally, student response questionnaires were used to assess the practicality of these digital books. The data analysis examined the validity and practicality of the digital book learning media created with Flip PDF Corporate, based on digital literacy. The findings reveal that the developed digital book learning media is highly feasible, with an impressive feasibility score of 98%. Moreover, the practicality assessment showed that students found the digital book products very practical, with a high approval rating of 94.72%. Future research should consider conducting longitudinal studies to evaluate the long-term effects of using digital book learning media on students' knowledge retention, critical thinking skills, and motivation. This research provides valuable insights into the sustainability and effectiveness of digital learning media.
