Abstract

Centrifugal pumps are commonly used in industrial and domestic sectors to transport fluids by increasing their flow rate to a specific pressure. One type of centrifugal pump, the Boiler Feed Pump (BFP), plays a crucial role in steam power plants. Designed for continuous operation, BFP shafts are prone to wear and failure due to extreme operational conditions. This study employs computer-aided simulation using SolidWorks software to analyze von Mises stress, displacement, strain, and safety factors of BFP shafts with three material variations: AISI 4140, AISI 316, and AISI 304. The results indicate that AISI 4140 material exhibits the highest safety factor of 2.7 and the lowest displacement of 0.453 mm. Fatigue simulation also shows that AISI 4140 has the lowest damage percentage and the highest fatigue life. These findings suggest that AISI 4140 is the optimal material choice to enhance the durability and efficiency of shafts in applications requiring high reliability, such as BFPs in steam power plants.

Abstract

This article is the result of field research in three schools in Aceh Besar. This research consists of two related studies. The first focuses on answering the hypothesis about the effect of implementing a teaching factory on student work using the one-group pretest-posttest design method. Students will be given a pretest first to assess the results of their initial work. After that, they are given the teaching factory treatment and then a post-test for the results to be compared to assess whether the treatment has an effect. The second research the author wants to examine in this article is consumer satisfaction with the work. Using the survey method, the data obtained is calculated based on the satisfaction references percentage. The sample in this study consisted of 30 students to evaluate work results using the one-group pretest-posttest design method and 30 consumers to assess the level of consumer satisfaction with student work. Based on the data obtained, the researchers concluded that there was a significant influence on student work results after treatment. The average post-test result increased to a pretest value of 18.66667 with sig. 0.000, which means significant. The result value of the t count is 37.405, greater than the t table of 2.045, which means that the application of teaching factory learning is very effective in improving student work results. Then for the consumer satisfaction results, it was obtained that 30% were very satisfied with the student work, and 70% were satisfied with the student work. With nine people feeling very satisfied and 21 people feeling satisfied, the average result is that consumers are satisfied with students’ work.

Abstract

Tanaman serai wangi merupakan komoditi perkebunan yang dapat menghasilkan minyak atsiri. Dalam proses penyulingan tanaman serai wangi untuk mendapatkan minyak atsiri. Setelah proses penyulingan yang pada akhirnya menghasilkan limbah serai wangi. Petani belum mampu mengatasi permasalahan limbah tersebut. Masyarakat melakukan perajangan limbah untuk campuran pakan ternak, menjadikannya pupuk kompos untuk tanaman, dijadikan bahan bakar dengan dibakar langsung sehingga berdampak terhadap lingkungan dan menimbulkan polusi udara. Permasalahan ini membutuhkan penyelesaian dengan metode pendekatan sebagai solusi. Penerapan teknologi berupa alat pencacah limbah serai wangi sebagai upaya dalam meningkatkan produktifitas masyarakat di Nagari Simawang. Kegiatan penerapan teknologi kepada kelompok masyarakat mitra dirancang dalam pelaksanaan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat. Kegiatan yang dilakukan mulai dari persiapan dan perencanaan sampai dengan evaluasi pelaksanaan. Keberhasil melakukan penerapan alat pencacah serai wangi yang efisien serta konstruktif dengan kapasitas alat mencapai 34 kg/jam. Efektifitas penerapan alat mencapai 95% dalam menghasilkan pencacahan. Penerapan teknologi ini dapat berdampak terhadap peningkatan kesejahteraan dan peningkatan pemberdayaan masyarakat dan membangun wawasan masyarakat. Implementasi Program Kemitraan Masyarakat dengan pengembangan teknologi tepat guna kepada masyarakat di Nagari Simawang dapat keberlanjutannya dan bersinergi di tengah masyarakat.

Abstract

Seilama ini proseis peinguipasan hanya dilakuikan deingan cara peinguipasan jaguing deingan tangan seihingga meimakan banyak waktui dan teinaga. Dibutuhkan aplikasi teknologi alat pemipil jagung untuk memudahkan dan mempercepat proses pemipilan .Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecepatan putaran mesin pemipil jagung multifungsi terhadap kualitas hasil pemipilan dan mengetahui kecepatan putaran mesin yang menghasilkan hasil pemipilan berkualitas tinggi.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan metode eksperimen, dengan penggunaan putaran 380 rpm, 400 rpm, 662 rpm, 800 rpm, dan 1200 rpm terhadap hasil akhir pemipilan biji jagung terhadap mesin pemipil jagung multifungsi. Kualitas hasil pemipilan pada setiap putaran poros mesin kemudian dianalisis berbagai pengaruh perlakuan terhadap pengaruh untuk setiap kecepatan putaran mesinvariasi frekuensi putar 1200 rpm mendapatkan hasil kapasitas kerja mesin yang paling tinggi dengan kapasitas mesin 188.45 kg/jam. Variasi putaran yang mendapatkan kapasitas kerja mesin paling rendah yaitu 380 rpm dengan kapasitas 59.51 kg/jam. nilai efisiensi pemipilan terbesar terdapat pada variasi kecepatan 1200 rpm dengan nilai efisiensi sebesar 98.05% sedangkan nilai efisiensi pemipilan terendah terdapat pada variasi kecepatan 380 rpm dengan nilai efisiensi sebesar 88,08%Dari lima kali percobaan yang dilakukan pada 1200 rpm yang mendapatkan hasil yang lebih optimal dari mulai kapasitas kerja mesin, persentase jagung yang tidak terpipil, dan efisiensi pemipilan.

Abstract

Labsheet rangka batang dan gaya geser yang tersedia pada mata kuliah Fenomena Dasar Mesin prodi S1 Pendidikan Teknik Mesin FT UNP memiliki kekurangan dalam memuat isi materi pembelajaran. Sehingga penelitian yang dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk menyempurnakan labsheet dengan materi yang cukup dan layak. Pelaksanaan penelitian menggunakan metode R&D model pengembangan Plomp, Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Validasi data dilaksanakan oleh 1 orang dosen pengampu mata kuliah, 1 orang dosen ahli materi, dan 1 orang dosen ahli media dari Departemen Teknik Mesin FT UNP. Data diperoleh melalui penyerahan angket validasi kepada validator. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dengan penilaian skala Likert. Melalui analisis data aspek materi, diperoleh hasil dari ahli materi dengan rerata skor 3,00 atau 75,00% kategori “Layak” dan hasil dari dosen pengampu mata kuliah FDM menunjukkan rerata skor 3,23 atau 80,75% kategori “Sangat Layak”. Hasil analisis data aspek media dari ahli media menunjukkan rerata skor 3,45 atau 86,25% kategori “Sangat Layak” dan hasil analisis data dari dosen pengampu mata kuliah FDM menunjukkan rerata skor 3,06 atau 76,50% kategori “Sangat Layak”. Kesimpulan dari penelitian yang dilaksanakan ialah labsheet praktikum dikatakan “Sangat Layak” digunakan dalam pembelajaran praktikum mata kuliah Fenomena Dasar Mesin dan dapat digunakan sebagai penelitian lebih lanjut bagi peneliti seterusnya.

Abstract

Product diversification through Cymbopogon citratus briquettes as an alternative fuel for the development of renewable energy. The waste from the Cymbopogon citratus production process is a potential source of renewable energy that can be used as briquettes. This is an alternative to reduce dependence on fuel oil energy which is the main need for ordinary people. The purpose of developing Cymbopogon citratus waste briquettes with various variances and the use of tapioca adhesive, in obtaining the characteristics of the calorific value of briquettes. The method of making briquettes by using a press and optimizing the composition of the appropriate mixture as an effort to get the calorific value. From this research, the calorific value of Cymbopogon citratus briquettes is 8230.65 kJ/kg at a percentage mixture of 90 : 10 and its density is 394.90 kg/m3. From the acquisition of these characteristic values, it can be recommended as an alternative fuel in an effort to develop renewable energy in the utilization of lemongrass waste.

Abstract

The development of electric vehicles in Indonesia has grown rapidly, supported by the Indonesian Electric Car Competition (KMLI) which encourages innovation in designing lightweight yet strong vehicle frames. The tubular space frame of the “Megathrust Electric” car previously used ASTM A36 steel with a total weight of 32 kg, which was considered inefficient as it increased power consumption and reduced overall performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of pipe dimension variations and alternative materials, namely Aluminium alloy 6061 and 6063, on the strength and deformation of the frame. The method employed is Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks software under static loading conditions that represent real operating scenarios. The pipe variations examined include 19.05 mm diameter with 2.5 mm thickness and 25.4 mm diameter with 2 mm thickness. The simulation results show that the 25.4 × 2 mm Aluminium alloy 6061 configuration provides the best structural performance with a maximum stress of 55.07 MPa, deformation of 1.583 mm, and a safety factor (FOS) of 5.012. In contrast, the 19.05 × 2.5 mm Aluminium alloy 6063 configuration is lighter but exhibits higher stress (184.4 MPa) and a lower safety factor (1.161). Therefore, the Aluminium Alloy 6061 pipe with 25.4 mm diameter is recommended as the optimal frame design, offering a balance between strength, stiffness, and weight efficiency to support the performance of electric vehicles in competition.

Abstract

This study evaluates the static structural performance of a Prototype-class energy-efficient vehicle chassis for the Indonesian Kontes Mobil Hemat Energi (KMHE; Energy-Efficient Car Competition) by comparing two material options, AISI 1020 carbon steel and Al 6061-T6, under a consistent load representation. Three-dimensional chassis models were developed in SolidWorks and assessed using static finite element analysis (FEA). The loading scenario included gravitational body force and two concentrated static loads representing operational conditions: 700 N applied at the driver seat region and 300 N applied at the engine mounting area. A curvature-based meshing strategy was adopted, with element sizes ranging from 1.6 to 8 mm, resulting in approximately 1,700,093 nodes to capture geometric details in joints and curved members. The AISI 1020 chassis produced a maximum von Mises stress of 278.6 MPa concentrated near the engine mounting joint, a maximum total deformation of 2.1 mm in the roll-bar region, and a minimum factor of safety of 1.3. In contrast, the Al 6061-T6 chassis exhibited a lower peak stress of 61 MPa at the rear wheel mounting region, a higher deformation of 3.4 mm at the roll bar, and a factor of safety of 4.5. The findings confirm a trade-off between stiffness and safety margin: steel offers higher stiffness but an insufficient safety margin, while aluminium significantly improves the static safety margin with increased deformation. These results provide design guidance for reinforcing critical regions and enhancing the robustness of competition-ready chassis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemanfaatan Discord sebagai portal pembelajaran terhadap minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Gambar Teknik Manufaktur di SMK Negeri 1 Padang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experiment berbentuk posttest-only control group design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 60 siswa kelas XI Teknik Pemesinan yang terbagi ke dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Kelompok eksperimen mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan Discord sebagai portal pembelajaran, sedangkan kelompok kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket minat belajar siswa yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan Discord sebagai portal pembelajaran berpengaruh signifikan terhadap minat belajar siswa, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (<0,05). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa integrasi Discord dalam pembelajaran mampu meningkatkan keterlibatan dan ketertarikan siswa dalam pembelajaran Gambar Teknik Manufaktur.
