Abstract

Introduction: Sex education plays an important role as a preventive measure in preventing young teenagers from reproductive health and sexuality problems. The problem in Indonesia is related to sex education, namely that parents still feel reluctant to discuss sexual topics with early teens. Objectives: This study examines to identify parents' perceptions about sex education for early adolescents in elementary schools in the Hegarmanah Village area, Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency. Methods: This study was a descriptive quantitative study with a survey approach via questionnaires to parents of students in grades 4-6 at elementary schools in Hegarmanah Village (n=371). The sample was taken using stratified random sampling with as many as 213 respondents. Data collection used a perception questionnaire of sex education for school-age children and data analysis used univariate analysis. Results: The research results showed that the majority of respondents had a negative perception of sex education in their early teens (51.2%), while the remainder had a positive perception of sex education in their early teens (48.8%). Conclusions: The majority of parents of students in grades 4-6 in elementary schools in the Hegarmanah Village area have a bad perception of sex education. Thus, a community-based education program is needed to increase parents' perceptions of sex education to be more positive.

Abstract

Poor personal hygiene practices can affect the incidence of infectious diseases which in turn can increase the risk of stunting. Several factors influence the practice of personal hygiene in the care of under-five children, namely the level of education and income of parents. The research was to analyze the relationship between parents' education and income level with personal hygiene practices in under-five children's care. The research design is a quantitative correlation with secondary data sources. The population is parents who have under-five children in Sukamulya Village, Bandung. Samples were taken using an accidental sampling technique with a total of 85 respondents, excluding parents whose children died in the under-five age range or whose children were 5 years old at the time of data collection. The instrument is a questionnaire consisting of demographic data and 7 questions related to personal hygiene practices in caring for under-five children. The data were analyzed using the Spearman test. The results showed that there was no relationship between the educational (p-value=0.16) and income (p-value=0.887) level of parents with personal hygiene practices in caring for under-five children in Sukamulya Village, Bandung. The next research suggestion is to examine other factors that influence personal hygiene practices in caring for under-five children.

Abstract

Caesarea Section (CS) delivery causes short and long term complications, as well as death that can occur during intraoperative, post-operative, or subsequent pregnancies. Many studies have been conducted on the causes of cesarean delivery, but research on the factors that cause cesarean delivery is still limited, especially in primigravidas. Primigravidas have a higher risk of experiencing CS related to the physical and psychological condition of the mother. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause cesarean delivery in primigravida. A retrospective case control study at Idaman Hospital was conducted in October – November 2020 with research ethics number 466/UN6.KEP/EC/2021. Data was collected from the medical records of 588 primigravidas divided into SC (n=294) and normal (294) deliveries between 2017-2019. Data were analyzed using chi square and logistic regression. The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between labor induction (p=0.000), prolonged labor (p=0.001), premature rupture of membranes (p=0.001), cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD) (p=0.000), and umbilical cord entanglement (p= 0.048) with faults in primigravida. The most correlated multivariate factor was CPD Exp (B) = 18.741. Vaginal delivery is still possible in some cases after proper assessment and under close supervision. CS delivery is carried out to help with the birth process which is experiencing complications. Knowing the causal factors associated with cesarean delivery is expected to provide health education information to mothers to carry out routine antenatal care. Early detection of factors causing cesarean delivery in primigravida, as preparation for childbirth. Keywords: Caesarean section, logistic models, medical records, primigravidae
