Abstract

Objectives: The objective of this research is to compare the influence of each dimension (first-order e-WOM) with its second-order e-WOM. This research also examined how e-WOM can influence tourists' decision behavior and satisfaction in Batu City agrotourism. Methodology: This research was conducted using primary data in 2023. The population in this study consists of 119 respondents who have visited agrotourism in Batu City and obtained information about agrotourism from e-WOM on Social Networking Services. The data was processed using Warp-Partial Least Square (WarpPLS) 8.0.Finding: E-WOM has proven itself as a valuable source of information for tourists visiting agrotourism in the city of Batu. With the help of e-WOM, tourists can obtain more up-to-date insights into the conditions of agrotourism. Agrotourism operators also benefit since they receive free marketing from their tourists. Conclusion: Overall, this research results indicate a contrasting comparison between the first-order e-WOM model and the second-order e-WOM. Only two dimensions of e-WOM, namely the valence of opinion and content, have a direct influence on visitation decisions and tourist satisfaction. Additionally, this study demonstrates that all three dimensions of e-WOM collectively have a significant impact on tourist behavior. Second-order e-WOM has a more substantial impact on tourists in influencing their decisions and satisfaction levels.

Abstract

Abstract

Potatoes are a vital horticultural commodity in Indonesia, serving as an alternative staple food and an industrial raw material. However, potato farming in Sumber Brantas Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City faces inefficiencies due to excessive use of inputs, such as seeds and fertilizers, and financial constraints arising from rising input costs. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency and optimization of production inputs in potato farming to enhance productivity and sustainability. A quantitative research approach was employed, with data collected from 50 potato farmers through interviews and questionnaires. The Cobb-Douglas production function was used to analyze input efficiency, supported by classical assumption tests, including multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and normality tests. The findings reveal that land area and seeds are relatively efficient inputs, while fertilizers, pesticides, and labor remain inefficient and underutilized. Further optimization analysis showed that none of the production inputs had achieved optimal levels, indicating overuse in some cases and underutilization in others. These inefficiencies significantly limit production outcomes. The study concludes that targeted interventions are required to optimize resource allocation and improve input management. These insights provide valuable recommendations for farmers and policymakers to enhance agricultural productivity and economic viability in the region, contributing to more sustainable potato farming practices.

Abstract

While the company is anonymized as “X Company” in the title, the empirical context of this study focuses on Starbucks Indonesia, where the rise of social media has amplified the impact of boycott movements through electronic word of mouth (e-WOM). This study examines the influence of anti-genocide digital campaign on consumer satisfaction in Malang City by analyzing: (1) the directly effect of e-WOM, religiosity, boycott, and brand image on boycott, brand image, and customer satisfaction (2) the influence of e-WOM and religiosity on customer satisfaction through brand image, and (3) the influence of e-WOM and religiosity on customer satisfaction through boycotts and brand image. The research employed a quantitative method using a Likert-based questionnaire, involving 64 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using SEM-PLS with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate that brand image has a positive and significant effect on consumer satisfaction, while e-WOM and religiosity have a significant positive effect on boycotts. However, e-WOM and boycotts have a significant negative impact on consumer satisfaction, while e-WOM has a positive effect on brand image. In contrast, religiosity does not significantly impact consumer satisfaction, nor does religiosity have a significant influence on boycotts or brand image. Additionally, negative e-WOM encourages boycotts, which harm brand image and reduce consumer satisfaction. These findings underscore the importance for companies, particularly Starbucks Indonesia, to closely monitor negative e-WOM, with a focus on upholding moral and religious values. As well as strengthening the brand image. Future research should consider consumer loyalty as a dependent variable, future explore religiosity dimensions, and expand the study to other industries. This study provides valuable insight for academics and businesses regarding the interplay between e-WOM, religiosity, and boycotts.
