Abstract

This study aims to develop a thematic-based physical activity model to improve physical literacy in early childhood and to test its effectiveness. The method used is research and development (RD) following the ADDIE procedure, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research sample consisted of 41 children aged 4-5 years. Instruments used were a needs analysis questionnaire, validation questionnaires from experts on the physical activity model and physical literacy, a learning module validation questionnaire, and a physical literacy observation sheet. The findings show that the developed model is very good. The effectiveness test using a pre-experimental design showed a significant improvement in children's physical literacy, with an average pretest score of 68.2 and posttest score of 89, and an N-gain score of 0.52 (moderate category). Interview results indicated a positive impact of the model on children's holistic development, including increased confidence, cooperation, and motivation for physical activity, despite challenges such as limited facilities, classroom management, and children's egocentric attitudes. In conclusion, the thematic-based physical activity model is feasible for use in learning and effective in improving physical literacy in early childhood. According to these findings, early childhood educators can improve children's physical, psychological, social, and cognitive development by incorporating thematic physical activities. They can also promote its inclusion in national literacy policies.

Abstract

ABSTRACTResearch on sports athletes by Indonesian scholars has grown rapidly, yet a comprehensive understanding of its patterns and directions remains limited. This study aims to map the research landscape using a Scopus-based bibliometric approach. Data were retrieved using the keyword “athlete” in the title, abstract, and keywords with Indonesian affiliations for the period 2010–2026, yielding 1,532 publications. The analysis covered publication trends, source journals, authors, affiliations, document types, and subject areas. The results show a significant increase in publications, particularly after 2018, with journal articles dominating (80.1%) and a concentration in journals such as Retos and International Journal of Human Movement and Sports Sciences. Research contributions are largely dominated by a limited number of authors and institutions, focusing mainly on health professions (27.2%) and medicine (25.0%). Despite rapid growth, gaps remain in contribution distribution, publication quality, and multidisciplinary integration. Data diperoleh menggunakan kata kunci “athlete” pada judul, abstrak, dan kata kunci dengan afiliasi Indonesia pada periode 2010–2026, menghasilkan 1.532 publikasi. Analisis dilakukan terhadap tren publikasi, sumber jurnal, penulis, afiliasi, jenis dokumen, dan bidang subjek. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan publikasi terutama setelah 2018, dengan dominasi artikel jurnal (80,1%) dan konsentrasi pada beberapa jurnal seperti Retos dan International Journal of Human Movement and Sports Sciences. Kontribusi penelitian masih didominasi oleh sejumlah kecil peneliti dan institusi, serta berfokus pada bidang health professions (27,2%) dan medicine (25,0%). Meskipun pertumbuhan pesat terjadi, masih terdapat kesenjangan dalam distribusi kontribusi, kualitas publikasi, dan integrasi multidisiplin. Abstract

Background Problems: Social skills development is increasingly important in education as it impacts students’ social interactions, good relationships, and academic success. However, in the digital age, changing social dynamics are driving educators and researchers to recognise the importance of valid and reliable tools to assess and develop social skills, including in primary, secondary, and tertiary schools. Research Objectives: This study aims to discuss the process of adapting an instrument to assess adolescent social skill in higher education, highlighting the key considerations and steps involved in its development. Methods: The research method used was quantitative research. The population in this study were 1st semester physical education students, the sampling technique was purposive sampling, and the sample size was 118, data were discussed with Pearson and Cronbach. The English version of the SSIS-RS was translated according to international guidelines into Indonesian. Content validity was verified by an expert panel and our instrument was then administered to the two sample physical education classes. SPSS version 27.0 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL) was used to perform all analyses in this study. Findings and Results: The results of the instrument validity test using Pearson correlation showed that 45 statement items were valid (r count > r table) of 46 statement items. It could be concluded that the Indonesian version of the SSIS-RS instrument had achieved adequate group validity. Cronbach alpha ranged from 0.888-0.893, indicating adequate internal consistency. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the SSIS-RS instrument was said to be a valid and reliable tool for assessing students' social skills in physical education learning, so that it becomes a reference instrument when measuring affective learning abilities. The importance of social skills possessed by students because it is a predictor of academic and future success.
