Abstract

This research aims to examine the harmonization of diversion regulations within the juvenile criminal justice system in Indonesia as an effort to achieve social justice for children in conflict with the law. Diversi is a form of case resolution outside the criminal justice system that emphasizes a restorative justice approach. Although it has been regulated in Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (UU SPPA), the implementation of diversion still faces obstacles, particularly regarding the provision that limits diversion only to offenses with a maximum penalty of under seven years. This provision is considered not in line with the constitutional mandate and the principle of protecting children's human rights as stipulated in the 1945 Constitution and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This research uses a normative juridical method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The research results indicate that there is a need for harmonization between the diversion provisions in the Child Protection System Law (UU SPPA) and other regulations to ensure more optimal protection of children's rights. This adjustment is important to prevent discrimination and trauma to children, as well as to realize a justice system that is oriented towards the best interests of the child.

Therefore, the current students only as fun. Fun meaning is the role and function of students only as happy-happy alone. Then on the stage that students lose meaning and existence. In addition, students also contracted by simulacra, i.e., their ignorance of the boundary between the real and the artificial, because of the world has now become the world’s imagination, and in infectious simulacra in the body of the student, when a student was helpless again.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the politeness strategies used by students when communicating with a lecturer via WhatsApp messages. The researcher conducted this study using discourse analysis, with data obtained from 22 final-year students of the English Education Study Program at Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak, in the form of screenshot messages. The messages were analyzed using referential analysis to examine each utterance. Based on the findings, the students mostly used a combination of positive politeness strategies and negative politeness strategies when messaging a lecturer. Each strategy served its own function; for example, positive politeness strategies were mostly found at the beginning of the message as a form of greeting, while negative politeness strategies were used to indirectly convey intentions and to soften requests. The results of the analysis showed that most students applied politeness strategies appropriately based on the context when communicating with the lecturer, but some still inappropriately used certain words and terms in their messages. Therefore, it is necessary for students to be more aware of appropriate language use, especially in written communication, in order to maintain effective communication and foster a good relationship with the lecturer.

Abstract

This systematic literature review investigates the usage of ChatGPT for the learning of English language among non-English majors. Drawing on ten recent research from the last two years, this study looks at students’ perspectives, the impact on language skills, and the challenges of incorporating ChatGPT into learning contexts. The findings show that ChatGPT improves vocabulary acquisition, academic writing, and conversational skills by giving tailored feedback and a low-pressure practice environment. However, issues regarding dependence, ethical use, and the need for teacher direction persist. This paper emphasizes the likelihood of ChatGPT as a complementary learning tool, emphasizing the significance of mixing AI technology with traditional instruction and cultivating AI literacy in order to maximize benefits while maintaining academic integrity.
