Abstract

Understanding light diffraction requires higher-order thinking and the ability to apply science process skills. Therefore, this study aims to develop a guided inquiry-based e-worksheet that is valid, practical, and effective to stimulate science process skills in Light Diffraction materials. The study uses the Design and Development Research (DDR) approach, which consists of four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The data analysis uses a validity test assessed by three experts, a practicality test conducted by students and teachers, and an effectiveness test as measured by the N-Gain test. The validity test results obtained an average value of 3.54, which is "very valid" category. The e-worksheet’s design and content correspond to the science process skill: formulating problems, formulating hypotheses, conducting experiments, drawing conclusions, and discussing. The practicality test produced an average student response result of 86% and an average teacher perception result of 88%, both of which are classified as "very practical." The effectiveness test produced an N-Gain value of 0.71 in the experimental class, which is classified as high and increased compared to the control class's value of 0.49, which is classified as moderate. Hence, an e-worksheet based on guided inquiry has been produced to stimulate valid, practical, and effective science process skills. The results contribute to the theoretical understanding of guided inquiry-based learning and provide practical guidance for teachers in implementing digital inquiry activities on light diffraction.

Abstract

Teaching materials that stimulate Computational Thinking (CT) and Self-Regulated Learning (SRL), particularly for high school electricity topics, are currently limited. This study aims to develop an interactive problem-based e-module with a deep learning approach that is valid and suitable for pilot use to support CT and SRL. A mixed-methods design was employed, and the e-module was developed using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). Validation was conducted by five experts (three lecturers and two physics teachers), assessing content, design, and language. A needs analysis of 50 high school physics teachers revealed that 76% had not actively stimulated CT in their teaching, and 90% reported the absence of problem-based interactive e-modules for CT and SRL. Expert validation resulted in an average score of 87.6%, indicating the product's validity. Teacher and student responses yielded practicality scores of 94.47% and 95.26%, respectively, showing the e-module's high suitability for use. Evaluation of learning effectiveness, including CT and SRL gains, remains an area for future research. In conclusion, the findings indicate that the developed e-module effectively addresses the need for problem-based digital learning materials and is ready for preliminary implementation to support CT and SRL development.

Abstract

Significant changes in contemporary education require instructional approaches that can effectively foster critical thinking skills and a growth mindset, particularly among Generation Z learners. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) has been widely recognized as a student-centered pedagogical model that promotes active engagement, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking. This study aims to examine research trends related to the implementation of PjBL in developing students’ critical thinking skills and growth mindset through a bibliometric analysis. Data were collected from relevant scholarly publications and analyzed using VOSviewer to visualize research patterns and thematic relationships. The findings indicate that PjBL is strongly associated with the development of critical thinking skills, while its connection with growth mindset remains comparatively underexplored. These results highlight a research gap in the integration of cognitive and motivational constructs within PjBL studies and suggest directions for future research to strengthen the pedagogical impact of project-based learning in 21st-century education. Further studies are needed to explore how PjBL can be effectively designed to promote both cognitive skills and a growth mindset simultaneously. Bridging this gap will provide valuable insights for educators seeking to maximize the potential of PjBL in fostering holistic student development.
