Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of Islamic inheritance law (mawaris) in contemporary Muslim society as a means to realize justice and blessing (barakah) in the distribution of inherited wealth. The research is motivated by the growing number of inheritance disputes caused by limited understanding of faraid principles, the persistence of customary inheritance practices, and the coexistence of national legal systems that often diverge from Islamic inheritance regulations. These conditions frequently lead to unequal distribution and family conflicts. The study aims to examine the relevance of mawaris in modern contexts and to explore how its application, when aligned with the objectives of Islamic law (maqasid al-shariah), can address current social challenges. Employing a qualitative method with a normative library research approach, the study draws on primary sources such as the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical fiqh texts, as well as secondary sources including contemporary books and scholarly journal articles. Data were analyzed through content analysis to identify key concepts and arguments regarding the contemporary application of mawaris. The findings show that proper implementation of Islamic inheritance law fosters justice, minimizes family disputes, strengthens kinship ties, and safeguards the blessing of wealth. Nevertheless, insufficient public literacy on Islamic inheritance law and the dominance of non-sharia considerations remain significant barriers. Therefore, the study underscores the need for enhanced public education, greater involvement of religious scholars in inheritance mediation, and contextual integration of Islamic legal principles to ensure fair and beneficial inheritance distribution in modern Muslim families.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of fitnah in Islam, focusing on its definition, forms, risks, and social impacts. Fitnah, referring to false accusations, deceit, and the spreading of misleading information, can pose a serious threat to individual integrity and social balance. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature review from classical Islamic texts, Quranic verses, the teachings of the Prophet, and the latest scholarly articles from trusted sources. The findings indicate that fitnah is a significant moral and social violation that can lead to various issues, such as conflicts, defamation, social division, and the loss of trust within society. The study also emphasizes the importance of Islamic ethical principles in preventing and addressing fitnah, especially in the digital age, where information can spread rapidly and widely. The study concludes that preventing fitnah requires an increase in public literacy, more ethical communication, and adherence to Islamic values that emphasize honesty and caution in disseminating information. These efforts are expected to reduce the negative impact of fitnah in social life and foster a more harmonious society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internalization of the values of obedience, competition in good deeds, and Islamic work ethic as a strategy for strengthening students’ Islamic character through the Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah program, as well as to examine the collaborative role of teachers and parents in this process. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Participants included Islamic Religious Education teachers, parents, and students involved in the implementation of the Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah program. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah program effectively internalizes Islamic character values through structured habituation of daily worship monitored collaboratively by teachers and parents. The program contributes to improvements in three main domains: religious obedience, social morality, and religious independence. Students demonstrate greater consistency in performing obligatory and voluntary prayers, regular Qur’an recitation, polite behavior, emotional self-control, and social responsibility. In addition, the program strengthens communication and partnership between schools and families. The novelty of this study lies in its emphasis on systematic and continuous monitoring of daily worship practices as a practical mechanism for character internalization, integrating school-based instruction with family-based supervision. The findings imply that Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah can serve as an effective and replicable strategy in Islamic Religious Education to foster sustainable religious character development from an early age through strong school family collaboration.

Abstract

The development of national character is a strategic agenda in addressing moral, social, and cultural challenges in the era of globalization. Strengthening fundamental values derived from Islamic teachings is considered an important solution, particularly the values of obedience to Allah SWT, the spirit of competing in goodness (fastabiqul khairat), and work ethic. These three values play a crucial role in shaping individuals who are faithful, possess noble character, are responsible, and have high competitiveness. However, the reinforcement of these values in the practice of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels has not yet been optimally and systematically integrated. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the concepts, urgency, and strategies for integrating the values of obedience, competition in goodness, and work ethic into PAI learning. The research method employed is a literature study using a qualitative-descriptive approach through the analysis of scientific literature, curriculum documents, and relevant concepts of Islamic education. The findings indicate that the value of obedience serves as a spiritual and moral foundation for students, the value of fastabiqul khairat encourages active, collaborative attitudes oriented toward positive contributions, while work ethic strengthens discipline, responsibility, and productivity. The integration of these three values can be implemented through the development of teaching materials, the application of contextual learning methods, educators’ role modeling, and the cultivation of a religious school culture. The implications of this study affirm that integrating these values into PAI significantly contributes to the formation of a young generation with integrity and readiness to build a dignified nation.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low reading interest of students in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subjects, which negatively affects the development of their critical thinking skills. The study aimed to describe students’ level of reading interest, their critical thinking ability, and the relationship between the two among eighth-grade students of MTs PPP Syekh M. Muhsin. A quantitative correlational approach was employed with a total population of 30 students, all of whom were selected as the research sample using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a reading interest questionnaire and a critical thinking essay test, and analyzed using Pearson’s product-moment correlation with SPSS version 26. The findings revealed that both reading interest and critical thinking skills were at a moderate level. The correlation coefficient (rxy) obtained was 0.781, which exceeded the rtable value of 0.361 at the 5% significance level, indicating a strong and significant relationship. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant correlation between reading interest and students’ critical thinking skills in SKI subjects at MTs PPP Syekh M. Muhsin. These results highlight that the higher the students’ reading interest, the better their ability to think critically, thus emphasizing the importance of strengthening literacy practices in SKI learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the "internalization deficit" in Islamic ecotheology at MAN 1 Tanah Datar, where the flexibility of the Merdeka Curriculum paradoxically leads to the neglect of affective dimensions. The research aims to bridge the cognitive-affective gap by leveraging a meaningful learning framework to address superficial environmental ethics. The primary focus is directed toward deconstructing current assessment models that fail to engage the spiritual and emotional dimensions of students in Islamic Education (PAI). Utilizing a qualitative phenomenological design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and data triangulation involving 5 PAI teachers and 15 students. The results reveal a profound "affective void," as curriculum implementation prioritizes cognitive mastery and administrative reporting over spiritual cultivation. Current evaluation instruments are hindered by a "quantification bias" that measures only administrative compliance, preventing ecotheological values from internalizing into authentic behavioral traits (akhlak). The study concludes that internalizing ecological values requires the adoption of "slow pedagogy" and a transition toward qualitative-affective assessment methods, such as reflective journals and long-term behavioral tracking in local ecosystems. These findings recommend a reconstruction of authentic environmental ethics by prioritizing sincerity (ikhlas) and spiritual responsibility as stewards of the Earth (Khalifah).
