Abstract

Smartphone addiction has become a growing concern, potentially linked to negative outcomes in adolescents. This study aimed to analyze the influence of loneliness and aggressive behavior on smartphone habits among teenagers. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilized a correlational design with a sample of 87 students. The study instruments included validated and reliable scales for measuring loneliness, aggressive behavior, and smartphone addiction. Data analysis involved multiple aggression analysis. The results revealed a significant association between both loneliness and aggressive behavior with smartphone use. This suggests that adolescents experiencing loneliness or exhibiting aggressive tendencies might engage in more frequent or problematic smartphone use. Building upon these findings, future research could delve deeper into the potential of digital education and media literacy programs to support healthy smartphone habits and reduce excessive use among adolescents. Additionally, investigating the impact of such programs on the development of guidance and counseling services for university students could be valuable.

Abstract

Internal factor was a gift and genetic aspect, that can not be seperated from how an individual to behave and react, but can be shape and control and external factor was an environment influence that affect a subjective perception and social communication of individual. This condition can be a human dynamica in their life but also can be a disaster in social life, there are many problem came from how individual can not control or manage their emotion to behave in their life, this emotion call a negative emotion, in islam call such nafsun lawammah and amarrah. Many technique has been done to help the client in manage of their negative emotion, but that technique only touch on a surface of client’s counscioussness but not a trancendence of their self such an akhlak and deepest mind. Like told by Assagioli in transpersonal psychology that mind and will was a trancendence of self and al ghazali with tazkiyatun an-nafs approach told that akhlak was an deepest mind and heart to shape a positive emotion and release a negative emotion. In this article will discuss for further about emotion and their aspect and also how tazkiyatun an-nafs approach can be a synthesis to help release a negative emotion of client, this article was expanded from article in 2017 before.

Abstract

Intercultural communication represents a significant challenge in the adaptation process for students studying outside their home regions. This study aims to examine the impact of studying abroad on the development of students' intercultural communication skills. A qualitative approach, utilizing a case study design, was employed for this research. The study involved four students who were currently studying abroad, selected through purposive sampling. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather insights from each participant. The analysis revealed four key themes: personality resilience, communication skills, psychological adaptation, and cultural awareness. The findings suggest that psychological resilience plays a crucial role in facilitating effective intercultural communication. Additionally, interpersonal communication skills are essential in this process. A common psychological challenge faced by students is homesickness, which can be mitigated by maintaining regular communication with family members. Studying abroad also enhances students' awareness of Indonesia's cultural diversity, prompting them to expand their understanding of different cultures, values, environments, and norms. This study underscores the importance of strengthening guidance and counseling services in higher education to support students' adaptation to new environments.

Abstract

Self-harm behavior has become a significant mental health problem among adolescents. This study aimed to examine the relationship between peer conformity and self-harm tendencies in school students. A descriptive correlational quantitative research method was used involving 234 tenth and eleventh grade students. Data were collected using a peer conformity scale and a self-harm scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Non-parametric correlation analysis showed a negative relationship between the two variables. Students who self-harmed less tended to have higher levels of conformity. This finding indicates that peer conformity can be a protective factor against self-harm behavior. However, excessive conformity can also have a negative impact if group norms are unhealthy. Further research is recommended to investigate the influence of peer pressure on self-harm and develop more comprehensive interventions to prevent this behavior.

Abstract

Culture and ethics are universal problems experienced by almost all walks of life. People who cannot place themselves appropriately both in the culture in which they live and do not have ethics that correspond to the norms prevailing in society will tend to invite problemsor conflicts. This condition needs to be discussed psychologically, especially in the client's condition. Hence, this study aims to reveal the sources of client problems in an existential therapy approach in terms of cultural and ethical elements. This research method usesdescriptive qualitative with a library research approach that uses various reliable reference sources to support the development of this article. The analysis is carried out carefully, critically, and sharply to produce a logical, rational synthesis that can be tested empirically. The results of this study show that the client's culture and ethics are the sources of triggering problems in clients, so in existential therapy, clients need to find a capacity for self-awareness; (2) freedom and responsibility; (3) create an identity and building meaningful relationships with others; (4) the search for meaning, intent, value, and purpose in life; (5) anxiety as a living condition; and (6) awareness of death and non-being.
