Abstract

Tujuan : mengetahui hubungan indeks massa tubuh dengan kadar glukosa darah puasa dan tekanan darah pada tenaga kependidikan Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas. Metode : Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik dengan desain penelitian cross-sectional dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 37 orang yang dilaksanakan di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas pada tanggal 08 September 2021. Metode pengambilan sampel ini dengan total sampling, analisis data hubungan indeks massa tubuh dengan kadar glukosa darah puasa dan tekanan darah menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil: Nilai median indeks massa tubuh sebesar 24,22 Kg/, nilai rerata 24,94 Kg/, nilai minimum sebesar 16,23 Kg/ dan nilai maksimum 40,15 Kg/. Nilai median kadar glukosa darah puasa 127 mg/dL, nilai rerata 143,65 mg/dL, nilai minimum sebesar 93 mg/dL dan nilai maksimum 399 mg/dL. Nilai median dari tekanan darah 126 mmHg,nilai rerata 128,7 mmHg,  nilai minimum 94 mmHg, dan nilai maksimum 213 mmHg. Tidak terdapat korelasi bermakna antara indeks massa tubuh dengan kadar glukosa darah puasa (p=0,203) ataupun pada indeks massa tubuh dengan tekanan darah (p= 0,097) pada subjek penelitian. Kesimpulan: tidak terdapat korelasi bermakna antara indeks massa tubuh dengan kadar glukosa darah puasa dan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan tekanan darah pada tenaga kependidikan pada Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas.

Abstract

Background: Petai seed extract (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) contains flavonoids and polyphenols. These compounds have good antioxidant activity to lower oxidative stress. The product of oxidative stress is called MDA (Malondialdehyde) which can be used as an indicator of oxidative stress. The study aimed to determine the effect of petai seeds on MDA serum levels in rats (Rattus novergicus) on a high-fat diet. Objective: To determine the effect of the administration of Methods: This research was a true experimental study with post test only control group design. A total of 25 rats were divided into five groups : negative control (K-), positive control (K+), treatment 1 (P1), treatment 2 (P2), and treatment 3 (P3). The K+, P1, P2, and P3 groups were given a high-fat diet for 30 days and continued to administer extract of petai seeds doses of 100 mg/kgBW, 200 mg/kgBW, and 400 mg/kgBW consecutively for P1, P2, P3 for 10 days. The levels of MDA serum were measured by the P. P. Nair method. Data were analyzed using the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test and Post-Hoc Mann-Whitney test.Results: The results of this study indicate the effect of the administration of petai seeds (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) on the MDA serum levels. Conclusion: The study concludes that extract of petai seeds with 100 mg/kgBW has no effect on MDA serum levels, while in rats with a dose of 200 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW can decrease MDA serum levels.

Abstract

Maloklusi merupakan kelainan pada oklusi gigi yang menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat. Ketidaksejajaran gigi anterior mandibula merupakan maloklusi yang sering terjadi, hal ini akan mengakibatkan beberapa gangguan seperti kurang estetik, sulit membersihkan sisa makanan, resesi gusi dan lain lain. Maloklusi dapat disebabkan karena asupan gizi yang tidak adekuat, karena asupan gizi penting untuk pertumbuhan tulang dan gigi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk melihat hubungan antara status gizi terhadap kesejajaran gigi anterior mandibula pada siswa SMPN 5 Padang. Penelitian menggunakan analitik observasional dengan pendekatan crossectional, dilakukan di SMPN. Pemilihan sample dengan metode purposive sampling sebanyak 60 orang. Untuk melihat status gizi digunakan Indeks Massa Tubuh menurut umur, sedangkan tingkat kesejajaran gigi anterior mandibula diukur dengan menggunakan metode Littles Irregularity Index. Berdasarkan analisis continuity correctionChi-square terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara status gizi dengan kesejajaran gigi anterior mandibula dengan nilai p=0,000. Status gizi normal memiliki hubungan terhadap peningkatan kesejajaran gigi anterior mandibula, sedangkan malnutrisi cenderung sebaliknya yang dilihat dari terdapat atau tidaknya gigi berjejal siswa SMPN.Kata kunci: Gizi, massa tubuh, Littles Irregularity.

Abstract

The increasing number of antibiotic resistance cases have to seek alternative treatments, including the petai plant (Parkia speciosa Hassk). Petai seeds primarily contain chemical compounds such as tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and flavonoids, which are known for their antibacterial properties. Objective: To determined the antibacterial activity of petai seed ethanol extract (P. speciosa Hassk) against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella typhi. Methods: This experiment used the Kirby-Bauer Method. Petai seeds were extracted with ethanol using maceration techniques, and the viscous extract was dissolved into concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Screening paper soaked in the extract was placed on agar plates inoculated with the test bacteria, and the plates were incubated for 24 hours. The inhibition zones were measured with a caliper, and the data were analyzed statistically. Results: The study found that the ethanol extract of petai seeds exhibited moderate antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and weak antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi. Conclusion: Increasing the concentration of the extract significantly enhanced its antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, indicating that petai seed ethanol extract could be a potential alternative treatment for bacterial infections.Keywords:  antibacterial, extract ethanol, Kirby-Bauer method, petai seed

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Peningkatan kadar glukosa darah merupakan karakteristik dari diabetes melitus yang jumlah penderitanya semakin meningkat. Obat antidiabetes oral pilihan pertama adalah metformin, selain itu biji petai dikenal dapat mengobati DM karena memiliki senyawa flavonoid dan polifenol. Objektif: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membandingkan efektivitas ekstrak biji petai dengan metformin terhadap kadar glukosa darah mencit. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan pretest posttest control group design di Lab Farmakologi Fakultas Farmasi dan Lab Biokimia Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas Agustus 2019-Maret 2020. Sebanyak 42 ekor mencit dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif (K-), kontrol positif (K+) diinduksi aloksan 175 mg/kgBB, kelompok perlakuan (P1, P2, P3) diberikan ekstrak biji petai 300 mg/kgBB, 400 mg/kgBB, dan metformin 2,6 mg/20gBB mencit secara oral selama 7 hari, dilakukan pengukuran kadar glukosa darah puasa mencit menggunakan spektrofotometer. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji nonparametrik Kruskal-Wallis dan Post-Hoc Mann-Whitney. Hasil: Rerata kadar glukosa darah puasa mencit adalah 103,7 mg/dl untuk K-, 318,1 mg/dl untuk K+, 85,5 mg/dl untuk P1, 66,6 mg/dl untuk P2, dan 81,3 mg/dl untuk P3. Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kadar glukosa darah puasa masing-masing kelompok penelitian dengan nilai p=0,0001 (p<0,05). Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan (p>0,05) antara kelompok P1 dengan P3. Kesimpulan: Ekstrak biji petai dosis 300 mg/kgBB memiliki efektivitas yang sama dengan metformin terhadap kadar glukosa darah mencit.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Miastenia gravis adalah penyakit neurologi autoimun yang jarang terjadi, namun sangat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup pasien dikarenakan tingkat keparahan yang cukup tinggi. Plasmaferesis digunakan sebagai salah satu pilihan terapi pada kondisi ini. Objektif: Tinjauan Naratif ini bertujuan untuk menilai penelitian terkait efektivitas terapi plasmaferesis terhadap miastenia gravis. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan tinjauan literatur terhadap 7 artikel penelitian yang dipublikasi pada rentang tahun 2019-2023. Sumber pangkalan data yang digunakan adalah Pubmed, Science Direct, dan ProQuest. Artikel dilakukan penyeleksian berdasarkan kriteria eligibilitas yang telah ditentukan. Hasil: Menurut artikel yang dilakukan tinjauan, diketahui bahwa plasmaferesis dapat memberikan luaran klinis yang baik pada pasien. Plasmaferesis juga mampu meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien secara signifikan. Kesimpulan: Semua literatur sepakat menyatakan bahwa plasmaferesis efektif digunakan sebagai terapi pada miastenia gravis.

Abstract

COVID-19 telah menginfeksi banyak orang di seluruh dunia selama beberapa tahun terakhir. Virus ini terutama menargetkan sistem pernapasan dan membuat para penyintasnya berisiko mengalami efek jangka panjang setelah sembuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan hubungan antara tingkat keparahan klinis COVID-19 dengan fungsi paru-paru pada penyintasnya. Spirometer berbasis PC digunakan untuk memeriksa fungsi paru pada penyintas COVID-19 ringan hingga sedang di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas. Mayoritas penyintas COVID-19 di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas memiliki tingkat keparahan klinis ringan (86,5%). Parameter spirometri yang mengalami penurunan paling banyak adalah VEP1 (16,2%), dan mayoritas penyintas COVID-19 memiliki fungsi paru yang normal (89,2%). Fungsi paru pada penyintas COVID-19 memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan keparahan klinis, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai p sebesar 0,005 (p < 0,05) pada uji Fisher exact. Terdapat hubungan antara tingkat keparahan klinis riwayat COVID-19 dengan fungsi paru pada penyintas, sehingga perlu dilakukan tindak lanjut pada pasien COVID-19 setelah dinyatakan sembuh dan diperlukan penatalaksanaan lebih lanjut pada pasien yang mengalami penurunan fungsi paru

Abstract

Elementary school students are consumers who are among those who consume the most food and beverages. Food and drinks sold around the school contain many hazardous substances such as dyes that have been banned from circulating (Rhodamine B in iced drinks, jelly drinks, and so on) and other additives such as formalin which is used as a chewy substance in meatballs sold in carts and restaurants that can cause acute poisonings such as allergies, coughs and chronic poisonings such as cancer of the liver, kidneys and other organs. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge about substances in food and an introduction to blood group examination. This activity was carried out at SD Negeri 13 Tungkal Selatan Village in North Pariaman District. The method of activity is in the form of counseling and demonstration. According to the survey before the blood group examination, it turned out that most of the elementary school students did not know their blood type. Before the blood group examination, the students were also given knowledge about determining a person's blood type. After this counseling was carried out, respondents became more aware of the impact of food/snacks on health, and respondents knew their respective blood types. Of the 64 students, there are 22 A, 17 B, 12 AB, 13 O. To avoid problems related to food and blood type. There is a need for continuous health education for elementary school students.

Abstract

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL) is one of the cancer diseases often occurs in children and causes high mortality in children. One of the chemotherapy treatment suggested is using L-Asparaginase 2. However due to its difficult production process making this approach expensive for the public. Therefore production technology of this enzyme is crucial enabling cheaper for ALL treatment. This study aimed to isolate the AnsB gene sequence from Serratia plymuthica UBCF_13 and perform its further in-silico analysis. The research was started by designing specific primers for the AnsB gene, isolating the AnsB gene fragment using PCR-based approach, sequencing the AnsB gene fragment, cloning the fragment to the plasmid vector and further transformed into E. coli DH5α cell. Further data analysis was carried out using some bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, MEGA X, I-TASSER InterPro. Sequence data result successfully verified that the full length of AnsB gene is 1047 bp. InterPro analysis indicated that the L-Asparaginase 2 from S. plymuthica UBCF_13 has 2 domains, namely L-Asparaginase N-terminal spanning from amino acid 26 to 216, while its C-terminal spanned from amino acid 235 to 345. The physical fragment of the gene was also successfully cloned to the pGEM-T Easy vector and subsequently transformed into E. coli DH5α cell. This result provided information for alternative sources of L-Asparaginase 2 and it’s possible engineering.
