Abstract

Abstract: The traditional classification of pesantren into salaf, khalaf, or mixed categories no longer captures the rich diversity of contemporary Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. This study proposes a revised typological framework that considers the ideological and organizational affiliations of pesantren—such as NU) Muhammadiyah, Persis, Shia, and LDII. Employing qualitative library research, the analysis draws from institutional records, curriculum documents, and scholarly literature. Findings reveal that each affiliation manifests distinct educational visions: NU emphasizes tafaqquh fi al-din through classical texts; Muhammadiyah blends national education with reformist Islam; Persis promotes rationalism and anti-madhhab discourse; Shia pesantren foreground philosophy and logic; and LDII implements a closed, tiered system. The study argues for redefining pesantren typology through ideological and pedagogical lenses, offering a more accurate framework for scholars, educators, and policymakers engaging with Indonesia’s pluralistic Islamic education landscape.Keywords: Curriculum, Pesantren Typology, Islamic Education, Indonesian Islamic Organizations, Religious Affiliation.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of Fiqh curriculum innovation within the Merdeka Curriculum in relation to Islamic educational thought espoused by Fethullah Gülen, particularly in the context of learning outcomes in Indonesian madrasahs. The primary aim is to identify the alignment between Gülen’s educational principles (which emphasize the integration of spiritual, intellectual, and social values) by the character based and contextual approach of the Merdeka Curriculum, especially in the subject of Fiqh within the madrasah environment. This research employs a qualitative library research method, analyzing curriculum documents (specifically the 2022 and 2024 decrees issued by the Directorate General of Islamic Education) alongside literature on Gülen’s educational philosophy. The findings indicate that the 2022 Fiqh Learning Outcomes are more compatible with Gülen’s framework than those of 2024, as they support the development of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), character formation, and social responsibility. Conversely, the 2024 outcomes tend to simplify the content and risk hindering the attainment of holistic competencies. The study concludes that the innovation of the Fiqh curriculum in madrasahs holds significant potential for shaping a religious, inclusive, and open-minded generation when integrated with the educational principles advocated by Fethullah Gülen.

Abstract

This article describes the discourse of turāth in the Islamic world and its significance in Indonesian Islamic education in the contemporary era. The research method used in this article is qualitative content analysis by critically reviewing primary and secondary literature data. Conclusions of the results show that the discourse of turāth in the Islamic world has given rise to polarizations in Islamic thought movements, including issues of violence in the name of religion, due to differences in responses to turāth and modernity. In Indonesia, discussions of the discourse of turāth have given birth to a new strand of Islamic thought called “Islamic Post-Traditionalism”. In the context of Indonesian Islamic education in the contemporary era, the discourse of turāth has significance in mapping the direction towards a bright future for Indonesian Muslims and formulating Islamic education based on peace. This article proposes the discourse of Islamic Post-Traditionalism as a paradigmatic framework to achieve these goals, both at the micro (individual) and meso (institutional) levels, as well as the macro (social) level. In turn, the construction of a civil society based on the Islamic principle of rahmah li al-‘ālamīn is expected to be realized in Indonesia in the future.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan memberdayakan ekonomi Pondok Pesantren Nur Ismail Blumbungan Pamekasan melalui pengembangan produk unggulan berbasis potensi lokal, yaitu Emping Tette Koin Premium, dalam model One Product One Pesantren (OPOP). Kegiatan meliputi pelatihan intensif keterampilan produksi, manajemen mutu, pengemasan, manajemen dokumen, serta pemasaran digital. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas peserta mampu menguasai keterampilan produksi sesuai standar SOP dengan capaian di atas 85%, meskipun sebagian kecil masih memerlukan pendampingan tambahan. Uji mutu produk memperlihatkan kualitas yang cukup baik, terutama pada aspek kebersihan, dengan rekomendasi perbaikan pada aspek warna dan ketebalan. Kemampuan pengemasan juga dinilai tinggi dengan tingkat kesesuaian 88,9–96%, meski variasi antar batch masih ditemukan. Dari sisi manajemen dokumen, 72% peserta telah memenuhi standar, sedangkan sisanya masih memerlukan pembinaan lebih lanjut. Pengetahuan pemasaran peserta meningkat secara signifikan, dengan sebagian besar mencapai kenaikan di atas 30%, meskipun terdapat peserta dengan capaian rendah di bawah 25% yang perlu perhatian khusus. Tingkat kepuasan peserta terhadap program juga sangat baik, berada pada rentang 4,45–4,63 dari skala 5, menandakan kegiatan diterima dengan baik. Secara keseluruhan, program ini berhasil meningkatkan kapasitas teknis, pengetahuan, dan keterampilan wirausaha peserta, sekaligus memperkuat branding pesantren melalui produk emping premium. Model OPOP ini terbukti efektif mendorong kemandirian finansial dan layak direplikasi pada pesantren lain dengan potensi serupa.

Abstract

In many schools, conventional approaches to Islamic Education remain limited by an emphasis on rote memorisation, reducing impact on students' social behaviour and insufficient opportunities for critical thinking. To address these challenges, this study developed Integrated Spiritual, Moral, and Scientific (SMS) Islamic Education instructional materials designed to foster holistic learning among high school students. Employing the Borg and Gall research and development (R&D) model, which comprises ten systematic stages, the study engaged teachers and students from four senior high schools in Gresik, East Java. The development process involved needs assessment, material design, expert validation, pilot testing, revisions, and large-scale field implementation. Data was collected using a combination of interviews, questionnaires, observations, achievement tests, and documentation. Qualitative data were analysed using descriptive methods, while quantitative data underwent statistical analysis to assess effectiveness and validity. The findings demonstrated that the SMS instructional materials achieved high content validity, with expert ratings averaging above 94%, and showed strong practical feasibility, with over 90% of teachers and students responding positively. The experimental group using the SMS materials significantly improved learning outcomes, outperforming the control group by 26% in post-test scores. Students reported greater motivation and understanding, while teachers observed enhanced classroom engagement and deeper internalisation of spiritual and moral values. Despite these promising results, the study was limited to a single region and semester, and the instruments used to assess spiritual and moral outcomes require further validation. Future research is recommended to explore longitudinal impacts, extend the application to more diverse educational contexts, refine assessment tools, and integrate digital analytics to personalise SMS-based instruction.

Abstract

One of recent educational problems is in the evaluation of teacher performance. It is revealed that the practices of teacher performance evaluation are manual, intuitive, and less objective. It causes the evaluation of teachers’ performance has not been maximum. This inability to carry out teacher performance evaluation must be analyzed in order to minimize evaluation practices that do not comply with procedures, so as to produce maximum assessments as material for sustainable evaluation. The aim of this research is to analyze the needs for teacher performance assessment practices in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach of the systematic literature review (SLR) type. The tools used to compile literature are Publish and Perish and Google Scholar. The codification results find 25 articles about teacher performance evaluation. The codified articles are limited from 2018 -2022. The research results show that the most urgent need analysis is the requirement for teacher performance evaluation to determine the teacher's ability to do their responsibilities and to provide warnings and motivation to teachers. Good teachers are supported by the competence of good school principals as mentors, coaches, and developers in school progress.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi metode Wafa dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran Al-Qur’an yang bermutu di SD IT Insan Permata Bojonegoro. Metode Wafa diterapkan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, penghafalan, dan penerapan ajaran Al-Qur’an melalui pendekatan sistematis yang melibatkan tujuh elemen inti, yaitu Pemetaan, Penyempurnaan, Standarisasi, Pendampingan, Pengawasan, Munaqosyah, dan Pengukuhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian lapangan, dimana data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi metode Wafa di SD IT Insan Permata Bojonegoro telah memberikan dampak positif terhadap kualitas pembelajaran Al-Qur’an. Pembelajaran di sekolah ini telah mengacu pada standar yang ditetapkan oleh metode Wafa, dengan kualitas guru yang sesuai, rasio pengajar dan siswa yang ideal, serta struktur pembelajaran yang terorganisir dengan baik. Namun, terdapat beberapa tantangan yang perlu diatasi, seperti kurangnya pengawasan akademik yang intensif, ketidakteraturan kenaikan level bacaan siswa, dan tingginya pergantian guru yang mempengaruhi kesinambungan pembelajaran. Secara keseluruhan, metode Wafa terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran Al-Qur’an. Untuk mencapai hasil yang lebih optimal, diperlukan penguatan pengawasan, peningkatan kualitas pelatihan guru, dan optimalisasi penggunaan perangkat evaluasi pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar metode Wafa diterapkan secara lebih konsisten untuk mencapai hasil pembelajaran Al-Qur’an yang lebih bermutu dan berkelanjutan di sekolah-sekolah berbasis Islam.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the principal in facilitating the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SDN Tenggilis Mejoyo 1 Surabaya. The Independent Curriculum is designed to provide students with the flexibility to choose learning activities that align with their interests and talents, employing a student-centered learning approach. The principal plays a vital role as an educator, manager, administrator, innovator, motivator, leader, and supervisor in supporting the curriculum's implementation. Through resource management, teacher training, and regular monitoring, the principal strives to create a conducive learning environment for the development of students' religious character. Despite challenges such as limited teacher understanding of the new curriculum and inadequate facilities, strategic measures are undertaken to ensure effective implementation. This study offers insights into the significance of the principal's role in supporting the successful implementation of the Independent Curriculum at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the strategy of religious teachers in strengthening students' religiosity in the era of globalization. To answer this research problem, a qualitative approach is used with the type of literature study. Data collection is done by finding sources and constructing from various sources such as journals and research that has been done. At a later stage, data processing and/ or quoting references are carried out to be displayed as research findings, abstracted to obtain complete information, and interpreted to produce knowledge to conclude. The results of this study show the fragility of the religiosity of students in the era of globalization, the factors that cause the fragility of the religiosity of students in the era of globalization, the solution strategy of religious teachers to strengthen the religiosity of students in the era of globalization, and the constancy of the religiosity of students in the era of globalization by making religious teachers as driving teachers.

Abstract

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, khususnya teknologi informasi, penggunaan internet dalam pendidikan terus berkembang. E-leraning merupakan bentuk pembelajaran yang memanfaatkan perangkat- elektronik baik yang menggunakan akses internet maupun tidak. Di era sekarang ini atau yang dikenal dengan era 4.0 setiap orang dituntut untuk melek digitalisasi lebih-lebih yang menggunakan akses internet. Dalam dunia pendidikan sendiri sudah mulai banyak dikenal beberapa aplikasi/system yang digunakan sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran yang memanfaatkan akses internet. Baru-baru ini di dunia khususnya di Indonesia dihebohkan dengan adanya penyebaran wabah virus corona. Dalam dunia pendidikan sendiri salah satu kebijkan yang sangat kita rasakan adalah adanya pemberlakuan belajar dirumah bagi siswa dari semua tingkatan di seluruh Indonesia, tentu sebagai pendidik harus berperan aktif dan inovatif didalam menyikapi kebijakan tersebut. Banyak sekali media pembelajaran online yang bisa dimanfaatkan oleh seorang pendidik untuk memantau dan mengkontrol pembelajaran siswa dirumah, salah satunya adalah pemanfaatan whatshapp (WA) sebagai media untuk pembelajaran jarak jauh siswa. Dalam tulisan ini akan kita coba untuk menguraiakan seberapa manfaat WA dalam mendukung pemebelajaran jarak jauh siswa, kendala-kendala yang dihadapi dan bagaimana keuntungan/keunggulannya.
