Abstract

The industrial revolution 4.0 has brought tourism trends using enriched interactive technology services. Technology in the world of tourism has helped the expansion of the industry through the promotion and mediation of independent tourists to carry out all services and transactions easily, including obtaining tourist information. This study aims to develop promotion media for geography education tourism in Soppeng Regency and test the effectiveness of the media. This study adopted the Alessi & Trollip learning multimedia development model. The developed media was tested on 20 respondents with 10-item usability scale statements and 5 response options ranging from agreeing to strongly disagree. The level of effectiveness of the media developed after being tested using the usability scale (SUS) system is included in the Good category (good) with an average score of 76.5. This level of effectiveness is included in the acceptable to users or acceptable category, with a grade scale of C and an adjective rating in the Good or good category. The results of this study also indicate that users are satisfied with the developed media but are not enthusiastic so that users can switch to other, more interesting media at any time. In the end, based on the final score obtained, it was concluded that the promotion media for geography education tourism in Soppeng Regency (battle city application) was effective and acceptable to users.

Abstract

Gorontalo City has recently experienced weather anomalies, with air temperatures reaching 35.2°C, the highest recorded in the last three decades. This study aims to describe the trend and spatial distribution of land surface temperature (LST) in Gorontalo City. Data were analyzed using Google Earth Engine through a spatial–temporal descriptive approach. The results show that the city’s LST has increased, indicated by the expansion of the very high temperature category from 5% in 2014, to 40% in 2019, and 47% of the total area in 2024. This increase is more pronounced in the northern part of the city, particularly in Kota Utara and Kota Barat Districts, which exhibit the highest temperatures. The trend analysis further reveals that the very high LST class experienced the most significant rise over the 2014–2024 period (slope +1.581; R² = 0.87), while the high LST class declined due to class shifting toward very high. These findings may serve as a reference for strengthening urban green space planning and management in Gorontalo City to mitigate temperature escalation resulting from rapid land conversion and urban development.

Abstract

This research is a Research and Development which aims to develop and determine the feasibility of character-based student worksheets in the subject of Geography. The development model applied is a 4-D model which is modified into 3-D consisting of define, design, and develop. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The results of research and development show that first, character-based student worksheets have been able to be developed and declared very valid based on the results of the questionnaire obtained from the assessment and responses by validators, namely material experts at 90.52 %, linguistic experts at 95.00 %, and teaching materials experts at 84.00 %. Second, character-based worksheets are considered very practical based on the results of the teacher's response questionnaire of 91.30 % and students of 86.60 %. The character-based student worksheets that have been produced have only been tested on a limited group, so it is necessary to conduct extensive trials in order to further confirm the effectiveness of the student worksheets made. In addition, the character-based student worksheets produced is only limited to one Basic Competence, therefore further development can be carried out with other Basic Competencies so that the process of strengthening character values can be carried out more deeply.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Urban Heat Island (UHI) refers to the rise in temperature in urban areas compared to their surrounding rural regions, primarily due to land-use changes, reduced vegetation, and high-density infrastructure. This condition poses health and environmental risks and presents significant challenges for sustainable urban planning. This study aims to: (1) assess the community’s level of knowledge regarding climate change and the impacts of UHI; (2) analyze public attitudes and adaptive behaviors in responding to UHI; and (3) determine the influence of knowledge and attitudes on behavior related to mitigating UHI impacts. A quantitative approach was applied using a household survey and structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, including t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²), with the aid of SPSS software. The findings show that the community's knowledge and attitudes are generally categorized as good. The F-test yielded a significance value of 0.054, indicating that the model was nearly significant at the 0.05 level. Partially, attitudes had a significant influence on adaptive behavior (p = 0.030), whereas knowledge did not show a significant effect (p = 0.890). The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.083, meaning that knowledge and attitudes collectively explain 8.3% of the variation in community behavior toward UHI mitigation. These findings highlight the need to strengthen public education and promote behavioral adaptation strategies to reduce the environmental impact of urban heat.

Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional condition influenced by various factors, such as economic, educational, health, and socio-cultural conditions. This study aims to describe the characteristics of poverty among the Bajo fishing community in Lamanggau Village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews and direct observation, as well as quantitative data support from survey results. The results show that the poverty of the Bajo fishing community is influenced by low levels of education, where the majority of heads of families only completed elementary school. Low education has implications for limited skills and job options, so they remain dependent on the hereditary profession of fishing. Economically, the average income of the head of a family is only around Rp. 500,000 per month, with a relatively large number of dependents, so it is unable to meet basic needs. In addition, inadequate housing conditions, limited access to clean water that must be brought in from neighboring villages, and uneven lighting further worsen the community's quality of life. From a health perspective, the lack of sanitation and the risks of working as a fisherman also increase vulnerability to poverty. Overall, the characteristics of poverty in the Bajo fishing community in Lamanggau Village are structural and cultural, thus requiring integrated policy interventions to improve education, repair basic infrastructure, and expand economic opportunities for the fishing community.

Abstract

Teknologi biodigester merupakan solusi ramah lingkungan dalam pengelolaan limbah organik khususnya kotoran ternak yang mampu menghasilkan energi alternatif berupa biogas. Program pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Marioriaja, Kabupaten Soppeng karena memiliki populasi ternak sapi yang cukup tinggi namun belum memanfaatkan teknologi tepat guna untuk mengolah limbah ternak secara optimal. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengelola limbah ternak menjadi biogas, sekaligus mendorong kemandirian energi berbasis potensi lokal. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan, praktik lapangan, dan evaluasi, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman dan partisipasi masyarakat. 100% peserta memahami fungsi dan manfaat teknologi biodigester, 85% terlibat langsung dalam praktik pengoperasian, dan terbentuk kelompok ternak sebagai pengelola unit biodigester. Biogas yang dihasilkan mampu digunakan untuk keperluan memasak, menunjukkan bahwa teknologi ini layak dan efisien diterapkan. Implementasi biodigester memberikan dampak positif terhadap pengelolaan limbah dan ketersediaan energi alternatif.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low emotional engagement and academic achievement of students in geography subjects due to the dominance of monotonous conventional teaching strategies. The focus of this research problem is directed at efforts to improve the quality of the process and learning outcomes through the implementation of gamification methods based on a deep learning approach. Using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the important stages in this research are systematically executed in two cycles which include planning tools, implementing classroom actions, observing activities, and periodic reflection. Data were collected from 37 students of class VII.4 MTsN 2 Makassar City as research subjects through written test instruments (post-test) and participatory observation sheets which were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The research findings show a consistent surge in academic performance and class operational activities. In cycle I, the average class score reached 76.89 with a classical completion percentage of 54 percent. This achievement increased sharply in cycle II with an average score of 86.08 and a successful learning completion rate of 89 percent. The main conclusion confirms that deep learning-based gamification syntax has proven effective as an interactive instructional medium that is able to boost cognitive competency completion and stimulate active student participation in a fun way. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterlibatan emosional dan pencapaian akademik siswa pada mata pelajaran geografi akibat dominasi strategi pengajaran konvensional yang monoton. Fokus masalah riset ini diarahkan pada upaya peningkatan kualitas proses serta hasil belajar melalui pengimplementasian metode gamifikasi berbasis pendekatan deep learning. Menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), tahapan penting dalam penelitian ini dieksekusi secara sistematis dalam dua siklus yang meliputi perencanaan perangkat, pelaksanaan tindakan kelas, pengamatan aktivitas, dan refleksi berkala. Data dihimpun dari 37 peserta didik kelas VII.4 MTsN 2 Kota Makassar sebagai subjek penelitian melalui instrumen tes tertulis (post-test) dan lembar observasi partisipatif yang dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan adanya lonjakan performa akademis dan aktivitas operasional kelas secara konsisten. Pada siklus I, raihan nilai rata-rata kelas mencapai 76,89 dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 54 persen. Capaian ini meningkat tajam pada siklus II dengan perolehan nilai rata-rata sebesar 86,08 serta tingkat ketuntasan belajar yang sukses menyentuh angka 89 persen. Simpulan utama menegaskan bahwa sintaks gamifikasi berbasis deep learning terbukti efektif sebagai media instruksional interaktif yang mampu mendongkrak ketuntasan kompetensi kognitif dan menstimulasi partisipasi aktif siswa secara menyenangkan.

Abstract

The low level of students' concern for school environmental sanitation and the lack of visualization of real geosphere phenomena in conventional teaching are the background of this research. These operational problems trigger students' indifference in maintaining ecosystem sustainability and reduce the effectiveness of material absorption. The main focus of this scientific study is to analyze the implementation of the outdoor learning model in school-based Geography learning and to test the disparity in environmental care attitudes between the experimental and control classes at SMAN 14 Bulukumba. The steps of the quasi-experimental quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest control group design are operated through purposive sampling. Primary field data collection is collected through a four-level Likert scale questionnaire, which is then analyzed using parametric requirements tests, Independent Sample t-tests, and N-Gain values. Quantitative data empirically reveals an increase in the average of the experimental class which shot up from 73.90 to 86.47 with an N-Gain score of 0.48 (medium category), far exceeding the control class which only increased from 72.77 to 77.47 with an N-Gain of 0.17 (low category). A t-test demonstrated a significant difference in performance between the two groups at 0.000. The main conclusion confirms that experiential learning, an out-of-class learning method, has proven highly effective in fostering ecological awareness. Secondary education practitioners are recommended to consistently draft implementation plans for learning activities based on living laboratories. ABSTRAK Rendahnya kepedulian peserta didik terhadap sanitasi lingkungan sekolah serta minimnya visualisasi fenomena geosfer nyata pada pengajaran konvensional melatarbelakangi penelitian ini. Masalah operasional tersebut memicu ketidakpedulian siswa dalam menjaga kelestarian ekosistem dan menurunkan efektivitas penyerapan materi. Fokus utama kajian ilmiah ini adalah menganalisis implementasi model outdoor learning pada pembelajaran Geografi berbasis lingkungan sekolah serta menguji disparitas sikap peduli lingkungan antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol di SMAN 14 Bulukumba. Langkah-langkah pendekatan kuantitatif kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design ini dioperasikan melalui penarikan sampel secara purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data primer lapangan dihimpun lewat angket kuesioner skala Likert empat tingkat, yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan uji persyaratan parametrik, Independent Sample t-test, dan nilai N-Gain. Data kuantitatif secara empiris menyingkap peningkatan rata-rata kelas eksperimen yang melesat dari 73,90 menjadi 86,47 dengan skor N-Gain 0,48 (kategori sedang), jauh melampaui kelas kontrol yang hanya naik dari 72,77 ke 77,47 dengan N-Gain 0,17 (kategori rendah). Uji-t membuktikan signifikansi perbedaan performa kedua kelompok pada angka 0,000. Simpulan utama menegaskan bahwa metode belajar luar kelas melalui pengalaman langsung (experiential learning) terbukti sangat andal menumbuhkan kesadaran ekologis. Praktisi pendidikan menengah direkomendasikan merancang draf rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran berbasis aktivitas laboratorium hidup secara konsisten.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas peternak sapi di Desa Congko, Kabupaten Soppeng, Sulawesi Selatan melalui diseminasi mesin pencacah rumput yang efisien. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi oleh peternak adalah pencacahan rumput yang dilakukan secara manual, memerlukan banyak waktu dan tenaga serta berdampak pada kualitas pakan. Kegiatan ini melibatkan identifikasi kebutuhan mitra, pemilihan dan penyediaan mesin pencacah rumput, sosialisasi, serta pelatihan penggunaan dan perakitan mesin. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam efisiensi kerja, kualitas pakan, dan kemandirian peternak dalam merawat serta memperbaiki mesin. Program ini tidak hanya berhasil memberikan solusi teknis, tetapi juga meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan peternak dalam mengadopsi teknologi baru. Dengan dampak positif ini, diharapkan program ini dapat diterapkan di daerah lain dengan kondisi serupa untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan peternak secara lebih luas.
