Abstract

AbstractThe study is to provide an alternative science learning model of an elementary school that can invite students to improve science literacy. As observations and questionnaires of researchers in a preliminary study at two elementary schools in the city of Cirebon, West Java, it was found that based on the average results of the initial analysis of scientific literacy tests of students from the two schools, an average of 85.7% showed negative results with the ability to answer the practice of science questions in the form of literacy, which means that students have not been able to answer literacy questions test. The research method uses model development the ASSURE development model starting with Student analysis; setting goals; choose a method, media / material, use media & material; activating student involvement as well as evaluations & revisions developed by Sharon Smaldino. As for the preliminary study conducted by analyzing 5th-grade students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) PGM and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI)  An-Nur Cirebon as samples and also observing teachers from the two schools, so this research produces a SIBELPOLEN model for science learning, which consists of teaching syntax, teacher roles, support system, accompaniment impact, instructional impact and designing lesson plans that can improve Science literacy competence of elementary school students. Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to examine the influence of phonics instruction with storytelling toward the students’ learning to read and the influence of phonics instruction with storytelling toward the students’ oral language development at first grade in elementary school. The subject of research is the first students at class A and class B at SDN Siliwangi that located in Bogor. The approach of this research is quantitative and the method used quasi-experiment. The design of this research used Nonequivalent Groups Postest-Pascatest with a purposive sample technique. The total samples were 60 students of first grade in SDN Siliwangi that are divided into two classes. The class control is 30 students, and the experiment class is 30 students. The data were collected through the test, namely test for measuring learning to read and test for measuring oral language development. The result of research finds out that phonics instruction with storytelling was better than conventional learning toward students' learning to read and oral language development. The novelty of this research shows that students pronounced the simple text easier, fluency, and communicative when they described their idea orally after given phonics instruction with storytelling. The second novelty of this result found that phonics instruction was effective when the teacher at elementary school facilitates students' level from the beginning until the advanced level.  The teacher should be implemented this instruction for helping students’ low achievement, especially for improving students’ oral language development. Finally, this result should be developed so that it more perfect and more practice. How to Cite: Syarif, A. Supriyati, Y., Zulela. The research data were collected using field note techniques, interviews, observations, and mathematical critical thinking test  and habits of mind questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that, tests of students' mathematical critical thinking show increasing trend in each cycle. In the first cycle, the percentage of students who completed their scores with mathematical critical thinking skills was 70.83% which increases in the second cycle to 83.33%. The percentage of teachers and students activity in each cycle has increased. In the first cycle, the percentage of achievement indicators was 78.57%, in the second cycle, increased to 89.28%. The active participation of all students in the first cycle was 76.19% and in the second cycle increased to 87.5%. As for habits of mind, the percentage in the first cycle and second cycle also increased. Abstract

Student potential is the capacity or ability and characteristics/nature of individuals related to human resources that have the possibility to be developed and or support the development of other potentials contained in students. In the process of implementing learning today, many teachers have not implemented differentiation learning so many students have not developed their potential. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning of differentiation can increase the potential of students in elementary schools. The method used in this study is that literature review is research that examines or critically reviews the knowledge, ideas, or findings contained in the academic-oriented literature, as well as formulating theoretical and methodological contributions to certain topics. The results showed that differentiation is to provide opportunities for students to show what students understand. Also, in this way the teacher can find out what method should be given to students whose grasping power is lacking, sufficient and good. By understanding the potential of students, teachers can give an accurate picture of their strengths and weaknesses, the strengths and weaknesses of students, and can identify potentials that need to be improved and weaknesses that need to be minimized. With differentiation learning, it guides students in increasing the potential that exists within themselves. The conclusion of the teacher must be able to guide students to be able to develop according to their characteristics, and the potential possessed by these students, this is closely related to differentiated learning. One of the values and roles of teachers is to create learning that favors students, namely learning that liberates students' thinking and potential. Differentiation can be implemented in the content, process, and product of learning.
