Abstract

Abstract

In the context of twenty-first-century education, deep learning has emerged as a central paradigm that emphasizes conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and collaboration. Although it is theoretically acknowledged as a pedagogical ecosystem that requires strong managerial support, its implementation in elementary schools remains largely constrained by administrative-oriented management practices. This study aims to examine the managerial gaps that hinder the effective implementation of deep learning in elementary schools and to identify strategic requirements for its systematic strengthening. Employing an Integrative Literature Review (ILR) approach, this study synthesizes 20 selected scholarly articles published between 2020 and 2025 and sourced from the Google Scholar and ScienceDirect databases. Data were analyzed through thematic content analysis to generate a comprehensive conceptual synthesis. The findings reveal four major challenges, namely misalignment of strategic direction, limited managerial readiness, weak instructional leadership, and an underdeveloped culture of collaboration within schools. This study contributes theoretically by proposing a conceptual framework that connects managerial dimensions with the success of deep learning implementation, while also offering strategic implications for school leaders to shift from an administrative focus toward leadership practices that actively support the quality of learning.

Abstract

Strengthening character education at the elementary school level is increasingly important in addressing contemporary educational challenges. One practical strategy widely implemented in schools is a 15-minute reading habituation program utilizing picture storybooks. This study aims to systematically examine the contribution of short reading habituation using picture storybooks to the development of elementary school students’ character. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by analyzing relevant national and international journal articles published between 2022 and 2025. Data were collected from reputable academic databases and analyzed descriptively to identify key patterns related to literacy practices, character formation, and the pedagogical role of picture storybooks. The findings indicate that consistent short-duration reading activities effectively support the internalization of character values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, empathy, and cooperation. Picture storybooks facilitate value transmission through narrative and visual elements that align with children’s cognitive and emotional development, enabling moral learning to occur naturally and enjoyably. In conclusion, the 15-minute reading habituation program using picture storybooks represents a simple yet sustainable literacy-based strategy for strengthening character education in elementary schools when

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The study aims to investigate not only the fundamental mathematical knowledge of primary school students but also their mathematical representation skills, as these are essential for applying mathematical concepts in everyday life. Methodology: A descriptive research design was employed without any treatment. The instrument included a test measuring representation skills through three indicators: forming equations or models from given representations, drawing diagrams to clarify and solve problems, and composing stories based on given representations. Secondary data were gathered through field notes and analysed using descriptive statistics, followed by triangulation with observation results. Main Findings: The findings reveal that students’ mathematical representation skills remain underdeveloped. The lowest performance was observed in the indicator involving drawing diagrams to support problem-solving. These results suggest a mismatch between students' learning needs and current instructional strategies, underscoring the need to implement differentiated and inclusive approaches to better support diverse learners. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study introduces a validated diagnostic test administered prior to the main assessment, ensuring the reliability and validity of the research results. This approach minimises bias and provides a more accurate portrayal of students' actual representation abilities, offering new insights into differentiated learning in mathematics education.
