Abstract

The research on the development of a green chemistry-based practicum guide for generic science skills aimed to measure the validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research used is Research and Development (R&D) based on the ADDIE development model. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA SMAS Alkhairaat Kalukubula who had been taught the subject of the polarity of electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. The instruments used in this study were validation sheets, questionnaires, and an essay test. Data were analyzed by using quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that the practicum guide was valid for the material aspect (84%) and the media aspect (82%). The practicum guide was rated in the practical category with a score of 86%. The effectiveness of practicum guides on generic science skills, with a Cohen effect size of 1.75 in the very large effect category and student responses at 89% in the very effective category. Based on these results, the green chemistry-based practicum guide is worthy of use.

Abstract

Problem-Based Learning is a learning model that focuses primarily on problems in the learning process. It encourages students to collaborate in groups to solve problems through various activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' numeracy literacy skills in acid-base material. This study used a quantitative, true-experimental design. The research population consisted of 47 students. The research sample was obtained using purposive sampling, divided into an experimental class of 15 students from class XI MIA 2 and a control class of 16 students from class XI MIA 1. The research instruments included a literacy test comprising 20 multiple-choice questions and a numeracy test comprising five essay questions. Experts validated all instruments provided. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the data analysis showed that the Mann-Whitney test p-value (0.000) was lower than the predetermined significance level of 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the PBL learning model affects students' numeracy literacy skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the Tumpek Wariga-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills in science and social studies (IPAS) learning at SD Negeri Sumbersari. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using two research designs: a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design for the critical thinking skills variable and a Static Group Comparison Design for the collaboration skills variable. The participants consisted of 17 students in the experimental group and 16 students in the control group. Critical thinking data were collected through a six-item essay test, while collaboration skills data were obtained through structured observations consisting of 12 indicators across five aspects. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, paired samples t-test, Mann–Whitney U test, independent samples t-test, N-Gain analysis, and Cohen’s d effect size. The results revealed that the Tumpek Wariga-based PjBL model had a positive effect on students’ critical thinking skills, as indicated by an N-Gain score of 0.35 (moderate category) and an effect size of 0.38 (small category). The model also demonstrated a highly significant effect on collaboration skills, with the experimental group achieving an average score of 83.58% (very high category), significantly higher than that of the control group (51.56%), and an effect size of 5.402 (very large category). These findings suggest that the integration of local wisdom through the Tumpek Wariga-based PjBL model is effective in fostering elementary school students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills.
