Abstract

The presence of small craft industries tempe, is one of the economic pillars of the people who can provide added value economy in the city, as well as providing a significant contribution in expanding employment opportunities, as well as a force capable of improving the welfare of the people. The purpose of this study to describe the phenomenon of small industrial/tempe producers, potential and constraints of the economic empowerment of communities that can be applied and developed in a small industrial tempe, and formulate policies in accordance with the potential srategi small craft industries tempe in the city of Semarang. The results showed that: 1) The tendency of the phenomenon of changes in tempe crafter business patterns are relatively small and micro enterprises as well as conditions of low-quality human resources, which lead them to be low income, (2) Empowerment has changed the concept of economic and social development that has the potential of productive micro-economic basis. Factors expertise/ skill used in the production process significantly contributed 67.8 percent of industrial production on a small tempe. It shows the contribution of the most dominant in the small industrial tempe, that expertise is important in a small industrial tempe, (3) development strategy capable of mobilizing the various aspects of resources and the capacity and potential of the community, making empowerment can be implemented into the best tools in an effort to income artisans tempe city of Semarang. Recom­mended considering internal factors crafters tempe still weak and fundamentally, the crafters need to get guidance and the way in which one of them by learning from the experience and the concerns of various stakeholders.Keberadaan industri kecil perajin tempe, merupakan salah satu pilar ekonomi rakyat yang mampu memberikan nilai tambah ekonomi di Kota Semarang, serta memberikan sumbangan yang signifikan dalam memperluas lapangan kerja, sekaligus menjadi kekuatan yang mampu meniingkatkan kesejahte­raan rakyat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan fenomena industri kecil/perajin tempe, potensi dan kendala pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat yang dapat diaplikasikan dan dikembangkan dalam industri kecil tempe, serta merumuskan srategi kebijakan sesuai dengan potensi industri kecil perajin tempe di Kota Semarang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kecenderungan fenomena perubahan yang terjadi pada perajin tempe pola usahanya yang relatif kecil dan mikro serta kondisi sumberdaya manusia rendah kualitasnya, yang mengakibatkan pendapatan mereka menjadi rendah, (2) Pember­dayaan telah mengubah konsep pembangunan ekonomi dan sosial yang memiliki potensi dasar ekonomi mikro produktif. Faktor keahlian/skill yang digunakan dalam proses produksi secara signifikan memberi­kan kontribusi sebesar 67,8 persen terhadap hasil produksi pada industri kecil tempe. Ini menunjukkan kontribusi yang paling dominan dalam industri kecil tempe, artinya keahlian menjadi penting dalam industri kecil tempe, (3) Strategi pengembangan mampu memobilisasi berbagai aspek sumber daya serta kapasitas dan potensi masyarakat, sehingga pemberdayaan dapat diimplementasikan menjadi alat terbaik sebagai upaya untuk peningkatan pendapatan perajin tempe Kota Semarang. Disarankan meng­ingat faktor internal perajin tempe masih lemah dan mendasar, para perajin perlu mendapat bimbingan dan cara yang ditempuh salah satunya dengan belajar dari pengalaman dan adanya kepedulian dari berbagai pihak terkait.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the phenomenon of SMEs superior and superior product, superior type of SMEs superior product and formulating policy strategy, in accordance with hte potential of SMEs in Ungaran, Semarang Regency. This research was conducted using the method of documentation with secondary data from the books in BPS and Bapeda Semarang Regency period 2004-2008. Method of assessment approaches and processes to find different types of SMEs and excellent potential in these areas would use a SWOT analysis method and Location Quotient (LQ).The results showed that: (1) Potential sectors that could be driving the manufacturing sector, in terms of small scale industries (SMEs) is a type of food and beverage industry, and traditional medicines. Processing industry is a sector basis and the biggest contributor to economic growth in the district of Semarang. Potential sectors that could be driving the manufacturing sector, in terms of small scale industries (SMEs) is a type of food and beverage industry, and traditional medicines. Processing industry is a sector basis and the biggest contributor to economic growth in the district of Semarang. (2) Policy strategy that can be applied based on the SWOT analysis are: (a) Strength Strategy Opportunity (SO), local product development, utilization of water resources potential to be a mineral water companys industrial sector, (b) Weakness Opportunity Strategy (WO), to realize the industrial area which mengutakan local raw materials such as: industry tempeh, tofu, crackers, chips and other variations that do not rely on raw materials imported from abroad. Utilizing the barren land to build industrial park, (c) Strategy Treath Strength (ST), the industrial sector become a leading sector, cooperation with other regions in pemanfataan pemanfataan water resources and tourist villages, and (d) Strategies Treath Weakness (WT), improve facilities and infrastructure, improving workforce skills for small industries to maintain and or improve the quality of its products.It is suggested local goverment should remain small support industry to remain a leading sector in a way makes it easy for small industry in the necessary permits and acces capital and marketing and increasing skill of its workforce.

Abstract

This research to analyze influence of counselor involvement, management capability and themembers participation on financial performance of the Kopontren the simultaneously and partially. Thisresearch was carried out using survey method and taking the primary and secondary data. Survey wascarried to 12 Kopontren as a sample research, counselor respondent is 12,36 management capabilityand the members participation was secondary data. The analysis method was using path analysis.The result of research give evidence that:1. Counselor involvement, management capability and the members participation were influencedsimultaneously positive and significant on financial performance of the Kopontren have 77,70%.Financial performance was measure from liquidity, solvability and rentability to have average309,38%.2. The partially influence counselor involvement on financial performance have 34,21%. The influenceof management capability on financial performance have 18,88%. The influence of membersparticipation on financial performance have 53,90%. The independent variables are influencepositive and significant.There for suggest that attention counselor for improvement welfare to management capability for addincentive have to motivation in the work and good time expend for develop kopontren. Hoped candevelop syariah cooperative in the Moslem boarding school.Keywords: Counselor Involvement, Management Capability, Participation, Financial Performance.

Abstract

The absence of maximum readiness of the existing Micro Small Medium Enterprises or SMEs in Semarang City in facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) requires an effort to improve the quality and competitiveness of SMEs. According to this problem, this research had several objectives to achieve, namely  1) evaluating the readiness of Semarang Municipality’s SMEs from various aspects in facing Asean Economic Community (AEC), 2) preparing the strategies to improve Semarang Municipality's SMEs  business quality and capacity. This research uses descriptive and SWOT analyses. The research results indicate that SMEs in Semarang Municipality has been ready in facing AEC. The obstacles standing in the way of SMEs include poorly arranged administration, the absence of product standardization, and marketing. The strategies practicable to improve SMEs’ businesses in Semarang Municipality include improving and extending marketing network and organizing training, assistance and technology upgrade for SMEs to improve their product standard, value and quality.

Abstract

This research purposes is to analyze cooperative’s strategy to improve its competitiveness based on information technology utilization. This research employs a quantitative descriptive approach, analysis on cooperative competitiveness with Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) in consideration of input and output. Cooperative’s business development strategy employs an analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The analysis is conducted on active cooperatives with open data system (ODS) in Central Java Province. 64.82% of all cooperatives have utilized information technology in their business operation and 35.18% of all cooperatives have not utilized information technology in their business operation; Result of the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) using the Domestic Resources Cost Ratio (DRC) = 0.240 This Condition shows that the cooperatives business is efficient and has comparative advatage.  Private Cost Ratio (PCR) = 0.229, means the cooperative has been able to use its domestic use the actual price and has competitive advantage. Cooperative has comparative advantage and competitive advantage competitiveness. The results of AHP analysis with five development criteria show that the information technology criterion is the most prioritized criterion with weight value of 0.365; the capital criterion’s weight value is 0.218; the human resource criterion’s weight value is 0.195; the network criterion’s weight value is 0.164, and the marketing criterion’s weight value is 0.058. The cooperative competitiveness standard does not include export variable, thus further research needs to be conducted with different measuring tool from that of this research.
