Abstract

Some of the numeric methods for solutions of non-linear equations are taken from a derivative of the Taylor series, one of which is the Newton-Raphson method. However, this is not the only method for solving cases of non-linear equations. The purpose of the study is to compare the accuracy of several derivative methods of the Taylor series of both single order and two-order derivatives, namely Newton-Raphson method, Halley method, Olver method, Euler method, Chebyshev method, and Newton Midpoint Halley method. This research includes qualitative comparison types, where the simulation results of each method are described based on the comparison results. These six methods are simulated with the Wilkinson equation which is a 20-degree polynomial. The accuracy parameters used are the number of iterations, the roots of the equation, the function value f (x), and the error. Results showed that the Newton Midpoint Halley method was the most accurate method. This result is derived from the test starting point value of 0.5 to the equation root x = 1, completed in 3 iterations with a maximum error of 0.0001. The computational design and simulation of this iterative method which is a derivative of the two-order Taylor series is rarely found in college studies as it still rests on the Newton-Raphson method, so the results of this study can be recommended in future learning.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kemampuan numerasi merupakan keterampilan dasar yang penting dimiliki oleh setiap siswa sekolah dasar. Numerasi tidak hanya berkaitan dengan kemampuan menghitung, tetapi juga mencakup pemahaman konsep matematika dan penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Rendahnya minat dan pemahaman siswa terhadap mata pelajaran matematika menjadi tantangan tersendiri dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan inovasi dalam metode pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar sekaligus kemampuan numerasi siswa secara menyenangkan dan bermakna. Salah satu pendekatan yang dapat diterapkan adalah melalui permainan edukatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi siswa melalui penerapan permainan "Ranking 1" yang dirancang khusus untuk kegiatan belajar di luar kelas. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada hari Kamis, 6 Februari 2025 di halaman SDN 1 Labuapi dan melibatkan seluruh siswa dari fase A (kelas 1–2), fase B (kelas 3–4), dan fase C (kelas 5–6). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan partisipatif dengan teknik observasi langsung dan evaluasi hasil pembelajaran. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan permainan "Ranking 1" terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi siswa. Selain itu, pendekatan ini juga mendorong siswa untuk lebih aktif, antusias, serta berani berkompetisi secara sehat dalam proses belajar. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa penggabungan antara unsur edukatif dan hiburan mampu menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan bermakna bagi siswa sekolah dasar.Abstract: Numeracy is an essential basic skill that every elementary school student should possess. Numeracy is not only related to the ability to count, but also includes an understanding of mathematical concepts and their application in everyday life. Students' low interest and understanding of mathematics poses a challenge in the learning process in elementary school. Therefore, innovation is needed in learning methods that can increase students' motivation to learn as well as their numeracy skills in a fun and meaningful way. One approach that can be applied is through educational games. This study aims to improve students' numeracy skills through the application of the “Ranking 1” game, which is specifically designed for learning activities outside the classroom. This activity was held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in the courtyard of SDN 1 Labuapi and involved all students from phase A (grades 1–2), phase B (grades 3–4), and phase C (grades 5–6). The method used in this study was a participatory approach with direct observation and learning outcome evaluation techniques. The results of the activity showed that the use of the “Ranking 1” game was effective in improving students' numeracy skills. In addition, this approach also encouraged students to be more active, enthusiastic, and brave in competing healthily in the learning process. This activity proves that combining educational and entertainment elements can create a fun and meaningful learning atmosphere for elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of the concepts of algebraic functions and geometry in the traditional architecture of Bale Sade, a traditional house of the Sasak people in Lombok, through an ethnomathematics approach. Although previous studies have highlighted geometric aspects in Sasak arts and crafts, in-depth studies of the application of algebraic and geometric principles in traditional building structures are limited. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, through field observations in Rembitan Village, Pujut Subdistrict, interviews with several resource persons, TA (Traditional Leaders), and PW (Tour Guides), and documentation in Rembitan Village, Pujut Subdistrict, Central Lombok. Data analysis refers to the Miles and Huberman model which includes collecting, reducing, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the structure of Bale Sade reflects mathematical principles such as symmetry, proportion, and geometric balance, as well as the application of algebra in calculating dimensions and efficient use of materials. In addition to functioning as a residence, Bale Sade reflects local wisdom that is closely related to cultural and environmental values. While previous studies have highlighted geometric aspects in the arts and crafts of the Sasak people, this study also makes an in-depth contribution to the application of algebraic and geometric principles in traditional building structures. This research recommends further studies that highlight the resilience of traditional architecture to climate change and the potential integration of modern technology in design without losing cultural values.

Abstract

Kemampuan literasi akademik mahasiswa menjadi aspek penting dalam mendukung kualitas penelitian dan publikasi ilmiah di perguruan tinggi. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi akademik mahasiswa melalui pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah dengan mengintegrasikan pemanfaatan aplikasi ChatGPT dan VOSviewer. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk penyampaian materi dan praktik secara langsung, dengan melibatkan 40 mitra yang merupakan mahasiswa dari berbagai fakultas di Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. Metode evaluasi yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah observasi, dengan indikator keberhasilan berupa kemampuan mitra dalam menyusun artikel ilmiah sesuai dengan materi yang telah disampaikan. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 80% mitra berhasil menyusun artikel ilmiah dengan baik, sesuai dengan arahan dan pemanfaatan tools yang telah diperkenalkan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi teknologi dalam pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah memberikan dampak positif dalam meningkatkan literasi akademik mahasiswa, serta membuka peluang pengembangan kegiatan serupa di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) menjadi media pembelajaran yang urgen dikuasai oleh guru. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan teknologi AI dalam rangka meningkatkan kompetensi guru Madrasah Aliyah (MA) dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran. Sebanyak 20 orang guru MA menjadi peserta dalam pelatihan ini, di mana mereka diperkenalkan dengan berbagai alat AI, yaitu ChatGPT, Gemini, dan Perplexity. Metode pelatihan melibatkan pemberian materi teoretis dan praktis tentang penggunaan AI untuk mendukung proses penyusunan perangkat pembelajaran. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa peserta memberikan respon positif dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 85,3. Meskipun demikian, peserta mengungkapkan bahwa durasi pelatihan dirasa belum cukup untuk mendalami materi secara optimal. Selain itu, kendala seperti lemahnya jaringan internet sempat mengganggu jalannya pelatihan, namun berhasil diatasi dengan berbagi jaringan dari telepon seluler. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa untuk mencapai hasil yang lebih maksimal, diperlukan penambahan durasi pelatihan dan pengayaan materi dengan lebih banyak tema praktis. Dengan demikian, diharapkan penerapan AI dapat lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran yang inovatif dan efektif.

Abstract

Pembelajaran daring merupakan kebijakan pemerintah yang harus dilaksanakan di setiap jenjang lembaga pendidikan. Namun fakta di lapangan banyak ditemukan kendala yang dihadapi oleh guru dan siswa. Oleh sebab itu, pemerintah bekerjasama dengan penyedia platform pembelajaran daring termasuk “rumah belajar”. Jadi, tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa dalam menguasai sumber belajar “rumah belajar” yang telah dikembangkan oleh Kemendikbud. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 16 siswa SMA. Kegiatan dilakukan secara praktik langsung di computer yang tersedia di lokasi mitra. Hasil evaluasi menggunakan teknik observasi diperoleh informasi bahwa rata-rata 87,5% siswa memahami cara mengaplikasikan “rumah belajar”. Harapan di masa mendatang, tim guru dan siswa secara kontinyu menerapkan “rumah belajar” sebagai sumber belajar secara daring sehingga para siswa mendapatkan rujukan yang sesuai kurikulum untuk dipelajari.

Abstract

Banyaknya peneliti yang telah melakukan penelitian yang berkaitan dengan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan menggunakan modul matematika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kembali hasil-hasil penelitian pada perbandingan tingkat hasil belajar siswa terhadap pemecahan masalah dengan menggunakan modul matematika, berdasarkan jenjang pendidikan. Metode yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Meta-analisis. Hasil penelusuran ditemukan sebanyak 61 data yang memenuhi syarat dan ketentuan dari database Geogle Scolar, DOAJ, dan Scopus dari jumlah peserta didik (N), nilai uji fisher (F), nilai uji student (t), nilai uji korelasi (r) dan ketuntasan klasikal yang diambil bersdasarkan dengan kata kunci. Dan hasil data akan dianalisis menggunakan sofware JASP dengan menginput nilai Effect Size (ES) dan standart Error (SE) dari tiap data. Dari hasil analis data dapat terlihat peningkatan yang signifikan. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan tingkat perbandingan hasil pemecahan masalah menggunakan modul matematika pada semua jenjang, pada jenjang SD sebesar 96% (kategori tinggi), tingkat SMP sebesar 99% (kategori tinggi), tingkat SMA 101% (kategori tinggi) dan PT sebesar 86% (kategori tinggi). Disimpulkan tingkat perbandingan pada jenjang SMA lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan jenjang SD, SMP, dan PT. Many researchers have conducted research related to improving mathematical problem-solving skills using mathematical modules. The purpose of this study is to re-analyze the research on the level of comparison of studies learning outcomes to problem-solving skills with mathematics modules, based on the level of education, namely elementary, junior high, high school, and higher education. The method used in this study is Meta-analysis. The search results found as much as 61 data that met the terms and conditions from the Google scholar, DOAJ, and Scopus databases fisher test value (F), student test value (t), correlation test value (r), and classical completeness taken based on keywords. And the data results next analyzed using JASP software by inputting the Effect Size (ES) and Standard Error (SE) values from each data. From the results of the data analysis, a significant increase can be seen. Improving problem-solving skills using mathematics modules is more widely used at the high school level compared to the elementary, junior high, and tertiary levels. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a comparative level of problem-solving results using mathematics modules at all levels, at the SD level of 96% (high category), SMP level of 99% high (category), SMA level of 101% (high category), and PT level by 86% (high category). It can be concluded that the comparison level at the SMA level is the higher than at the SD, SMP, SMA and PT levels.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between lecturer support, classroom environment, and several student psychological factors such as mathematical resilience, self-efficacy, and self-confidence. The research subjects consisted of 77 mathematics education students. The research instrument was a 38-question questionnaire. The results of data analysis showed that students gave positive responses with an average of 80.03 to lecturer support, 75.66 to the classroom environment, 79.15 to mathematical resilience, 80.57 to self-efficacy, and 75.95 to self-confidence. Furthermore, multiple linear regression analysis showed that lecturer support and classroom environment significantly influenced students' mathematical resilience by 26.7%, self-efficacy by 25.5%, and self-confidence by 30.2%. This finding indicates that the implementation of learning both in the classroom and outside the classroom is considered quite good by students. It also provides a deeper understanding of the factors that contribute to students' learning experience. The implications of this finding suggest developing strategies to improve the quality of learning by taking into account aspects of lecturer support and physical and social environmental conditions. Thus, it is expected to support students' academic achievement and personal development optimally. Abstract

The rapid advancements in healthcare technologies and the increasing complexity of medical data have made it imperative to explore and optimize predictive models for disease management. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review to identify advancements, challenges, and opportunities in disease prediction using machine learning (ML) within the healthcare domain. The literature sources include Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar, covering the period from 2013 to 2024. The findings reveal that both machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms have significant potential for disease prediction and treatment outcomes in various clinical contexts. Algorithms such as Random Forest, Logistic Regression, and ensemble techniques like Boosting have demonstrated strong performance in numerous studies. However, the effectiveness of these algorithms is highly context-dependent, including the type of disease, patient characteristics, and available data. Deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and hybrid Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models, excels in handling complex, high-dimensional data, providing higher prediction accuracy compared to traditional ML models. This research shows that deep learning models, especially CNN and hybrid LSTM, achieve higher accuracy in disease prediction compared to traditional ML models. However, challenges related to data quality, privacy, and the underlying mathematical modeling of these algorithms remain to be overcome for wider applications.

Abstract

The instructional model is a crucial component in the educational process. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Group Investigation learning model in enhancing students' mathematics outcomes. A quantitative research method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design was used, involving 29 eighth-grade students. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25, revealing a pretest score of 0.010 and a posttest score of 0.063 after implementing the Group Investigation model. The average posttest score was 77.91, indicating a significant impact on learning outcomes. Observations over three sessions showed an increase in student participation from 26.97% with an average score of 2.24 in Session I (categorized as "Less Active") to 42.79% with an average score of 3.56 in Session II, and 45.38% with an average score of 3.78 in Session III (both categorized as "Active"). This increase demonstrates that the Group Investigation model not only enhances student participation but also makes students more active in learning, thereby improving mathematics outcomes. Therefore, the Group Investigation model is an effective strategy for enhancing students' achievement in mathematics. Further research with more refined methods and tools is needed to confirm these findings.
