Abstract

The social media platform that is currently popular among teenagers is TikTok.This application allows users to upload short videos with various themes including education. Students' motivation to learn can increase through the use of video learning media, especially on the TikTok platform which is popular and attractive to today's digital generation. This study aims to find out the process of developing TikTok-based learning media using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on buffer solution materials to determine the feasibility of media developed based on material experts, media experts, practitioners as well as student responses and the impact on student motivation. The development of TikTok application-based learning media uses the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model using the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The research instruments used are in the form of interview guidesheets, questionnaires, documentation. The data analysis techniques used are qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The results of this study show that the use of learning media has a positive impact on students' learning motivation with a questionnaire score of 88% (very good category). From the feasibility aspect, the media was declared very valid based on the assessment of material experts and media experts with a percentage of 100%, as well as the validation of instructional design with an average score of 4.00. The results of the practicality test showed a student response of 89.0% (excellent category), which confirms that this learning media is practical, easily accessible, and in accordance with the characteristics of high school students as the digital generation. Based on the development process and research results, it is concluded that the development of TikTok application-based learning media using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the buffer solution material is feasible to be used theoretically and practically as one of the teaching materials on the buffer line and has the potential to increase student learning motivation based on expert opinions and teacher assessments.

Abstract

The colloidal system is a high school chemistry topic that examines the characteristics of fine particles within a dispersing medium. This material is often considered difficult by students due to its abstract nature, requiring a deep understanding of the types and properties of colloids and their daily applications. This condition indicates a need for innovation in learning media capable of connecting scientific concepts with contexts that are easier for students to understand. Through an ethnoscience approach that integrates local knowledge, students are encouraged to understand the material contextually and in relevance to local culture. This study aims to analyze the need for developing Genially-assisted interactive learning media on colloidal systems integrated with ethnoscience, focusing on fostering critical thinking skills. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques consisting of questionnaires and interviews with students and chemistry teachers at SMA Negeri 17 Muaro Jambi. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the needs analysis show that 60.7% of students experience difficulty understanding colloidal material and 89.3% of students require media with a combination of text, images, video, and animation. Furthermore, both students and teachers strongly agree with the development of Genially-assisted interactive learning media that can be used at school or at home to support learning processes that foster critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based multimedia learning tool using the Kahoot platform for acid-base topics, as well as to determine the feasibility of the tool and students’ responses to the developed product. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Lee & Owens development model, which comprises five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The analysis stage was conducted through observation, teacher interviews, and the distribution of questionnaires to identify learning needs, student characteristics, and technological readiness. The design stage involved product design, including the preparation of materials, flowcharts, storyboards, and research instruments. The development stage involved the creation of a prototype, which was then validated by subject matter experts and media experts, evaluated by teachers, and revised based on feedback. The implementation stage involved a small-group pilot test with 9 twelfth-grade students. The evaluation stage aimed to assess the feasibility and practicality of the product. The data collected consists of qualitative and quantitative data obtained through interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis was performed descriptively using a Likert scale and percentages. The results of the study indicate that the educational multimedia developed falls into the “acceptable” category and has received a positive response from students, making it suitable for use as an interactive and innovative alternative learning medium.

Abstract

This study developed a Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based pocket book on ionic bonding that is oriented toward students’ critical thinking skills. Twenty-first-century learning requires students to possess the 4C skills, one of which is critical thinking. This PBL-based pocket book was developed to help students learn independently, understand the concept of ionic bonding more easily, and facilitate the development of critical thinking skills. This study aims to examine the development process, the level of feasibility, and student responses to the PBL-based pocket book on ionic bonding designed to foster students’ critical thinking skills. This study employs a research and development (R&D) methodology using the Lee & Owens development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research instruments used consist of interview sheets and questionnaires. The resulting product was validated by media experts and subject matter experts and evaluated by teachers. Subsequently, the product was pilot-tested with students through one-on-one and small-group trials. The data analysis techniques used were qualitative data analysis (comments and suggestions) and quantitative data analysis (assessment scores and percentages). The results of this study showed that the content was conceptually valid (highly valid) based on subject matter expert validation, with an average score of 4.65, and media expert validation, with an average score of 4.45. Evaluations by chemistry teachers yielded an average score of 4.42, meeting the “highly feasible” criterion. Additionally, the one-on-one pilot test achieved a success rate of 90.22% (very good), and the small-group pilot test achieved a success rate of 89.20% (very good). Based on the development process and research results, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based pocket book on ionic bonds—designed to foster students’ critical thinking skills—is deemed suitable and very good for proceeding to the field-test phase as a learning resource that can help students improve their understanding of chemistry in school.
