Abstract

The success of early childhood education in rural areas cannot be separated from teacher resilience. The research aims to explore scientific insights into the urgency, influencing factors and efforts to increase the resilience of early childhood teachers in rural areas. The study used the Systematic Literature Review method by applying the PRISMA Protocol (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis. The results show that early childhood teachers' resilience is needed to support their critical role in providing quality early childhood education amid unique challenges such as limited resources and isolation. Factors that are at the core of teacher resilience include emotion regulation, impulse control, optimism, causal analysis, empathy, self-efficacy, and "reaching out". Efforts to increase their resilience include a range of strategies, including providing adequate support networks, professional development opportunities, and access to mental health resources. By addressing these influencing factors and implementing targeted interventions, we can empower early childhood teachers in rural areas to effectively meet challenges and maintain high-quality teaching practices for rural children.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Atherosclerosis, driven by inflammation and oxidative stress, increases the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). Flavonoids in butterfly pea and roselle are known for their potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. While their individual effects on cardiovascular health have been studied, no studies have explored the combined impact on atherosclerosis biomarkers, including vascular cell adhesion molecules (VCAM)-1, intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1, and interleukin (IL)-6. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the synergistic effects of butterfly pea and roselle combination extracts (BPRCE) on these biomarkers.METHODS: A study with a post-test control group design using 36 male white rats was performed. The rats were randomly assigned to 6 groups; 1 group was fed with standard feed, while 5 groups were fed with a high-fat atherogenic diet (HFAD) to create atherosclerosis rat models. The HFAD rats were given either no treatment, sodium carboxymethylcellulose (Na-CMC), 300, 400, or 500 mg/kgBW BPRCE. Serum levels of VCAM-1, ICAM-1, and IL-6 of rats were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) methods.RESULTS: Increasing doses of BPRCE resulted in a significant reduction in VCAM-1, ICAM-1, and IL-6 compared to the other groups. The group with the highest dose, 500 mg/kgBW BPRCE, showed the greatest reduction of VCAM-1 level (32.73±3.57 pg/mL), ICAM-1 level (5.68±1.17 ng/mL), and IL-6 levels (21.49±4.62 pg/mL).CONCLUSION: Administration of BPRCE in atherosclerosis rats model reduces VCAM-1, ICAM-1, and IL-6 in a dose-dependent manner. This study showed that using BPRCE as a traditional remedy for preventing and treating CHD at an optimal dose of 500 mg/kgBW might be a potential future application in reducing atherosclerosis biomarkers.KEYWORDS: VCAM-1, ICAM-1, IL-6, butterfly pea, rosella, atherosclerosis

Abstract

Changes in a society produce social critiques which in turn become a means of communicating new ideas in addition to assessing old ideas for social change, in short as a vehicle for the conservation and reproduction of a social system. Social critique can be conveyed through literary works; this is seen from the short story of Merdeka by Putu Wijaya. Through a dystopian literary approach and supported by related theories and concepts, it is revealed that this short story is full of social critiques as a result of the author's observations of his environment. The flow of dystopia is generally speculative, presenting a catastrophic or chaotic landscape of the future civilization of the world. Dystopian literature is always associated with socio-political discourse. Overall this research is carried out using a qualitative descriptive method with the aim of presenting a complete picture of the social setting and clarification of social phenomena in the short story of Merdeka and then synchronizing it with social reality. The results show that the forms of social critique conveyed by the author is lack of self-introspection, social gap and environmental damage. These three forms of social critique if uncontrolled can cause chaos in the social system because the main result is conflict, the color of dystopian literature.

Abstract

Labor is a physiological process involving the coordination of uterine contractions, cervical dilation, and fetal descent through the birth canal. One of the factors that can prolong the duration of labor is the slow process of cervical dilation due to low levels of natural oxytocin. A non-pharmacological method that can stimulate the release of endogenous oxytocin is nipple stimulation, which has the potential to accelerate cervical dilation and facilitate the progress of labor. This study aimed to analyze the effect of nipple stimulation on the acceleration of cervical dilation in primigravida mothers during the first stage of active labor. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an intervention group (nipple stimulation) and a control group (no stimulation). The study was conducted at X Maternity Clinic from July to September 2025 with a total of 12 respondents randomly divided into two groups of six participants each. Data were analyzed using the independent t-test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the mean duration of full cervical dilation in the intervention group was 4.2 hours (SD = 0.8), while in the control group it was 6.1 hours (SD = 1.0) with a p-value of 0.011. The mean rate of cervical dilation in the intervention group was 1.8 cm/hour (SD = 0.4), higher than in the control group at 1.1 cm/hour (SD = 0.3) with a p-value of 0.017. It can be concluded that nipple stimulation significantly affects the acceleration of cervical dilation in primigravida mothers during the active phase of the first stage of labor. This intervention serves as a safe, effective, and easily applicable non-pharmacological alternative to support the normal progress of labor.
