Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether there is 1) the relationship between read interest with reading comprehension skill, 2) the relationship between foreign vocabulary mastery with reading comprehension skill, and 3) the relationship between read interest and foreign vocabulary mastery together with reading comprehension skill. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang, February to June 2016. The research method used is survey method with correlation techniques. The population was tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang. The sample of 66 people taken by simple random sampling. Instruments to collect data is a test of reading comprehension skill, test of foreign vocabulary mastery, and questionnaire for reading interest. The results of research as follows: 1) there is a positive and significant relationship between read interest with reading comprehension skill; 2) there is a positive and significant relationship between foreign vocabulary mastery with reading comprehension skill; and 3) there is a positive and significant relationship between read interest and foreign vocabulary mastery together with reading comprehension skill. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan ada tidaknya (1) hubungan antara minat baca dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman, (2) hubungan antara penguasaan kosakata serapan asing dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman, serta (3) hubungan antara minat baca dan penguasaan kosakata serapan asing secara bersama-sama dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang, pada bulan Februari sampai dengan Juni 2016. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei dengan teknik korelasional. Populasi adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang. Sampel 66 orang yang diambil secara simple random sampling. Instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes kemampuan membaca pemahaman, tes kosakata, dan angket minat baca. Hasil penelitian: 1) terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara minat baca siswa dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman; 2) terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata serapan asing dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman; dan 3) terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara minat baca dan penguasaan kosakata serapan asing secara bersama-sama dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine empirically the relationship of language attitudes and knowledge of Indonesian spelling (EBI) with writing narrative competence in class V SDN Serang 5 Serang City. The study was conducted on the students of class V of the odd semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The research method used in this research is survey method with correlational study approach. The population of this study is all students of class V SDN Serang 5 Serang City which amounted to 44 students. The data collection in this study is to use test instruments and questionnaires. Based on the results of research and discussion, can be drawn conclusion on the results of research as follows. There is a positive and significant relationship between language attitudes with writing narrative competence . There is a positive and significant relationship between knowledge of Indonesian spelling (EBI) with writing narrative competence . There is a positive and significant relationship between language attitudes and knowledge of Indonesian spelling (EBI) together with writing narrative competence . Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the values of character education contained in Novel Daun Yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin by Tere Liye. Research is designed with descriptive qualitative approach the type of library research. Data analysis was conducted with qualitative descriptive techniques through activities of categorization, tabulation, and inference. The results showed, first there there are five character education values, including 1) religious, 2) integrity, 3) independent, 4) nationalist, and 5) mutual cooperation. Second, after studying the aspect of language, psychology, and cultural, this novel deserves to be used as teaching materials for literature in junior school. Keywords: character educational values, novel, teaching materials for literature ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam novel Daun Yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin karya Tere Liye dan kesesuainnya sebagai bahan ajar sastra di SMP. Penelitian ini didesain dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif melalui kegiatan kategorisasi, tabulasi, dan inferensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, pertama terdapat lima nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam novel yaitu; 1) religius, 2) integritas, 3) mandiri, 4) nasionalis, dan gotong royong. Kedua, setelah dikaji dari aspek bahasa, psikologis, dan budaya, novel ini layak dijadikan bahan ajar di SMP. Kata kunci: nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter, novel, bahan ajar sastra

Abstract

AbstractThis paper aims at describing the use of deixis in Tere Liye’s novel called“Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin”. The method used inthis writing is descriptive qualitative method. The data were collectedusing reading method and writing technique. The data consist of sentencescontaining deixis of persona, deixis of space, and deixis of time. It was found that there are 992 deixis which consist of 879 deixis of persona, 82 deixis of space, and 31 deixis of time. Such study on deixis has an implication on Indonesian language learning in high school class XII, especially in editing a novel. It is due to the fact that deixis relates to the choice of words and the use of effective sentences. Therefore, the teachers should manage to create its learning scenario. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemakaian deiksis dalam novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin karya Tere Liye. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode simak dan teknik catat. Data penelitian merupakan satuan lingual berupa kalimat-kalimat yang mengadung deiksis persona, deiksis ruang, dan deiksis waktu. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 992 deiksis, yang terdiri atas deiksis persona sejumlah 879, deiksis ruang sejumlah 82, dan deiksis waktu sejumlah 31 buah. Kajian deiksis dalam penelitian ini berimplikasi terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMA kelas XII, khususnya pada pembelajaran menyunting novel. Hal ini disebabkan deiksis terkait dengan pemilihan kata dan penggunaan kalimat yang efektif. Untuk itu, guru harus mampu membuat skenario pembelajarannya

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penggunaan piranti kohesi gramatikal subtitusi dan elipsis dalam novel Khotbah di Atas Bukit karya Kuntowijoyo. Data yang diambil yaitu satuan lingual berupa kalimat-kalimat yang memiliki piranti kohesi gramatikal subtitusi dan elipsis. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini berupa sumber data tertulis berupa paragraf-paragraf yang terdapat pada novel. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data pada penelitian ini adalah simak. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ditemukan piranti subtitusi berupa subtitusi nominal sebanyak 12 buah, subtitusi verbal 6 buah, dan subtitusi klausal 8 buah. Kemudian, piranti elipsis berupa elipsis nominal sebanyak 23 buah, elipsis verbal tidak ditemukan, dan elipsis klausal sebanyak 1 buah. Hasil penelitian dapat diimplikasikan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMA. Hal ini karena di dalam kurikulum 2013 terdapat komponen pembelajaran yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan kohesi gramatikal subtitusi dan elipsis dalam wacana novel. Kata Kunci: Subtitusi dan Elipsis, Novel, Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia

Abstract

The objective of the research was to understand comprehensively the early reading learning at class II Public Elementary School Serang 2, Serang City, Banten Province. The method used in this research is qualitative research. The data were collected through participant observation using interview, observation, and document study. The research finding shows the evaluation on early reading learning: 1)the result evaluation, and 2) the process evaluation.

Abstract

The background of this research is based on the context of language acquisition in children with the aim of explaining children’s language and vocabulary acquisition in the field of phonology in the process and perception of vocabulary for children aged 4 to 5 years with different mother tongue backgrounds in Keluncing Village, Kasemen District. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. As for the data collection techniques that the researchers used, namely library research techniques, documentation methods, recording methods, listening methods, and note-taking methods. The source of data in this study, namely the vocabulary of children aged 4 to 5 years with parents’ backgrounds of different mother tongues. The data in this study are in the form of utterances or words in the field of phonology which consist of omission and change of phonemes. The data found in the speech of children spoken in children aged 4 to 5 years. Based on data analysis, the data obtained by the researchers were 38 data on vocabulary or words spoken by children in the field of phonology. Based on the results of data analysis consisting of several parts, the following conclusions are obtained from the data obtained: 1) initial phoneme disappearance of 7 data, 2) middle phoneme disappearance of 3 data, 3) initial phoneme change of 10 data, 4) middle phoneme change of 8 data , 5) 5 data of final phoneme changes, and 6) 5 data of missing and changing phonemes in one sentence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain (1) the lexicon of the process of cultivating rice fields; (2) the process lexicon after harvesting rice; and (3) the lexicon of agricultural tools within the scope of agricultural culture in the Sumur sub-district community, Pandeglang district. This article is derived from the results of research with a descriptive qualitative approach using an ethnographic method based on ecolinguistic theory. Data were obtained from the results of participant observations and interviews with informants as many as 23 people who live in seven villages. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) the lexicon of the process of cultivating rice fields in the form of monomorphemic words; affixed polymorphemic words involving prefixes and confixes and reduplication results; and a combination of two words; (2) the process lexicon after harvesting rice in the form of affixed polymorphemic words involving prefixes and confixes; and a combination of two words; and (3) the lexicon of agricultural tools in the form of monomorphemic words; affixed polymorphemic words involving suffixes; and a combination of two words.Penelitian ini betujuan menjelaskan (1) leksikon proses penggarapan sawah; (2) leksikon proses setelah memanen padi; dan (3) leksikon alat-alat pertanian dalam lingkup budaya pertanian di lingkungan masyarakat Kecamatan Sumur, Kabupaten Pandeglang. Artikel ini berasal dari hasil penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif berdasarkan ancangan metode etnografis yang berbasis pada teori ekolinguistik. Data diperoleh dari hasil observasi partisipan dan wawancara kepada informan sebanyak 23 orang yang berdomisili di tujuh desa. Penelitian ini menghasilkan tiga temuan. Pertama, leksikon proses penggarapan sawah berupa kata monomorfemis; kata polimorfemis hasil afiksasi yang melibatkan prefiks dan konfiks atau reduplikasi; serta gabungan dua kata. Ketiga, leksikon proses setelah memanen padi berupa kata polimorfemis hasil afiksasi yang melibatkan prefiks dan konfiks serta gabungan dua kata. Ketiga, leksikon alat-alat pertanian berupa kata monomorfemis; kata polimorfemis hasil afiksasi yang melibatkan sufiks dan gabungan dua kata.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students’ reading comprehension of SMAN 4 Serang City are influenced by many factors, including the use of learning models and learning media. This study aims to determine the increase in students' ability to read short stories through the CIRC model assisted by media images. This research is a classroom action research using two cycles. Following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, this  model is based on a spiral cycle consisting of four components, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subject were 42 of class XI IPA-2 at SMAN 4 Serang City in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Determination of the research sample using purposive sampling methods with a random technique. Data on students’ reading ability were collected using a  reading comprehension test. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The result showed that the learning model applied has been empirically proven to improve student learning outcomes by reading student stories. From tests that has been carried out for two cycles, it was found that there is a very significant difference between the pretest results and the posttest results. The average value of the final test results, namely after learning using the Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) learning model and the image media developed, has increased significantly compared to the average value of the initial test results, namely before the developed learning model. So it can be concluded that learning using the Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) type learning model and serial image media has been proven through a series of tests to improve student learning outcomes for grade XI students of SMAN 4 Serang City.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of lexical cohesion reiteration in Padang Kurusetra short story by Emha Ainun Najib. This research used a qualitative approach. The data taken is a lingual unit of sentences that has an lexical cohesion reiteration marker. The method used to collect data in this research is referred to reading. Data analysis in this study uses the cloze method. The results showed that there was a lexical cohesion reiteration in the Padang Kurusetra short story by Emha Ainun Najib. There was 17 repetition, 7 synonymy, 10 oppositions, and 1 hyponymy. The function of the four lexical cohesion reiteration is to provide coherence of words or phrases in each paragragp so that the understanding of the author will be same as the reader’s. Then, the results of this research can be implicated in Indonesia language instruction in junior high school.Keywords: Lexical cohesion reiteration, short story, Indonesian language intruction.
