Abstract

Background: The high birth rate is the main reason for the need for family planning services. Many women experience difficulties in determining the choice of type of contraception. This is not only because of the limited available methods but also because of their ignorance to make the right choice according to age, number of children and the side effects that often arise. This study aimed to obtain in-depth information about the behavior of community participation in the family planning program at the Kajuara Community Health Center, Bone Regency. Subjects and Method: The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The number of informants in this study was 7 people. The variables of this study are people's behavior, knowledge, attitudes, and actions. These research variables in a qualitative approach are referred to as the research focus. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews. Data analysis using "content analysis". While the technique of testing the validity of the data using data triangulation. Results: The results showed that basically, the community at the Kajuara Community Health Center knew about the Family Planning program, its benefits, and objectives, but the information obtained about the Family Planning program was not fully obtained. The attitude of the people who are less responsive to participation in the Family Planning program does not mean they are afraid of not having children but are afraid of the effects of these contraceptives. The actions of people who do not participate in the Family Planning program are due to information from other people regarding the effects of contraceptives which makes people not want to participate in the Family Planning program. Conclusion: This study concludes that there is a need to increase public knowledge about the Family Planning program through intensive counselling in the community by health workers. It is recommended that the community at the Kajuara Community Health Center support the Family Planning program that has been programmed by the government by participating in the program. It is hoped that mothers will not be influenced by information from other people about the effects of family planning and seek information about family planning programs from health workers. The marketing mix with product indicators that are sold according to needs, standard quality and attractive designs just doesn't give a feeling of comfort because the brand is not familiar. The selling price of the product is by the quality offered and affordable, it's just less competitive with other brands. The location of M'Tos Ramayana Mall is quite strategic and easy to reach. Meanwhile, promotional indicators for choosing to buy are still lacking, both in electronic and print media. Keywords: Product, Price, Location, Promotion, Purchase

Abstract

Obesity in women of childbearing age is a growing health problem, not only due to dietary patterns and lack of physical activity, but also due to the influence of social and cultural factors. This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences, perspectives, and habits of women of reproductive age who are obese within the context of local social and cultural norms. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with five primary informants who are obese, as well as triangulation informants from community health workers and healthcare professionals. The results of the study indicate that perceptions of obesity are still predominantly viewed from the perspective of physical appearance rather than health. Social factors such as family eating patterns, snacking habits, comments from others, and lack of physical activity are triggers for obesity. Meanwhile, local culture has a varied influence—some communities are beginning to adopt slim body ideals, while others remain neutral. Obesity also impacts self-confidence, social stigma, and limitations in daily activities. However, most informants expressed hope for a healthier life. This study recommends interventions that consider local cultural values and involve family and community support in obesity prevention effort.

Abstract

Typhoid fever remains a significant public health burden in developing countries, including Indonesia, where poor hygiene and sanitation contribute to its endemicity. This study aimed to identify behavioral risk factors associated with typhoid fever in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Balongpanggang, Gresik Regency. A quantitative, analytic case control study was conducted involving 74 respondents, equally divided between the case group (patients diagnosed with typhoid fever) and the control group (individuals without the disease). Purposive sampling was applied to select participants, and data collection was carried out through structured interviews using a validated questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using chi square tests to evaluate associations between specific behaviors and disease occurrence. The study identified six significant behavioral risk factors: eating outside the home (OR = 5.022; 95% CI: 1.465–17.217), consuming raw food (OR = 15.231; 95% CI: 1.850–125.420), drinking untreated water (OR = 10.828; 95% CI: 3.182–36.848), poor knowledge about typhoid (OR = 90.417; 95% CI: 16.991–481.135), family history of typhoid (OR = 4.758; 95% CI: 1.720–13.164), and not washing hands after defecation (OR = 36.458; 95% CI: 7.491–177.444). These results emphasize the role of individual hygiene practices and household behaviors in typhoid transmission. In conclusion, this study provides strong evidence for prioritizing behavior focused public health interventions and educational programs as key strategies for typhoid fever prevention in endemic communities.

Abstract

Several studies conducted on tuberculosis (TB) management have largely focused on patient-centered interventions, with limited qualitative exploration of family perceptions and caregiving roles, particularly in rural Indonesian contexts. This study addresses that gap by examining how families perceive and engage in the care of pulmonary TB patients in the service area of UPTD Puskesmas Mowewe, East Kolaka Regency, in 2024. Employing a qualitative descriptive design with a phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews involving six informants, including family members of TB patients. The study reveals a spectrum of family perceptions, from comprehensive understanding to persistent stigma and misconceptions about TB transmission and treatment. These perceptions significantly influence caregiving behaviors, with some families offering strong emotional and logistical support, while others demonstrate limited involvement due to lack of knowledge and access to health information. Findings highlight that the family's role is central in supporting treatment adherence, facilitating access to healthcare, and promoting healthy practices within the household. The study underscores the need for structured education and empowerment programs tailored to families, especially in rural settings. These efforts are critical for enhancing family participation in TB care and achieving better public health outcomes. Recommendations include integrating family-based strategies into TB control programs and strengthening collaboration between healthcare providers and families.
