Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill that underpins academic success and lifelong learning. The SQ3R method, a structured approach that encompasses Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review, has long been recognized as a valuable tool for improving reading comprehension. This research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the SQ3R method in enhancing students' reading comprehension abilities. Pre- and post-assessments of reading comprehension were conducted, and the results were analyzed to assess the impact of the SQ3R method. In addition to quantitative data, qualitative feedback from students was gathered to gain insights into their perceptions of the method. The study revealed a significant increase in reading comprehension scores among students who were exposed to the SQ3R method. The frequency of method usage was positively correlated with improved comprehension outcomes. Longitudinal data showed that the improvements were sustained over time, indicating the method's long-term impact. Students' qualitative feedback echoed the positive quantitative results, underlining increased engagement, a better understanding of complex texts, and improved critical thinking skills. The research findings have significant implications for educators, policymakers, and researchers. Educators are encouraged to incorporate the SQ3R method into teaching practices, promote consistent method usage, and monitor long-term progress. Policymakers are urged to support professional development for educators and ensure access to appropriate educational materials. Future researchers should explore diverse student populations, compare the SQ3R method with alternative strategies, and investigate its adaptability in online learning environments. The SQ3R method has proven to be not only effective but also a powerful asset in education. It equips students with skills and strategies that are essential for understanding and retaining textual content effectively, fostering not only academic success but also a lifelong love for learning.

Abstract

This investigation aims to analyze the role of character education in fostering students' ethics and morality within the digital era.Utilizing a qualitative approach, this study explores the experiences of educators, students, and parents in implementing character education within formal educational environments.Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis.The findings indicate that character education exerts a substantial influence in enhancing students' ethical awareness and moral reasoning, particularly in navigating ethical challenges stemming from digital technology exposure. Nevertheless, the study also uncovers significant barriers to this goal, including the lack of value-based technology support and time constraints. The study's findings suggest that a collaborative effort among schools, families, and communities is essential to maximize the impact of character education in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Indonesian language learning in developing students' critical thinking skills at SMP 16 Jambi City. Using a qualitative approach, this study explores how Indonesian language learning can contribute to developing critical thinking skills through direct interaction with students and teachers. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and document analysis, which were then analyzed to identify relevant patterns and themes. The results of the study indicate that Indonesian language learning has great potential in developing students' critical thinking skills. Learning strategies such as the use of texts, discussions, debates, and argumentative writing have proven effective in improving critical thinking skills. Students are trained to identify main ideas, evaluate arguments, and design coherent and evidence-based argument structures. However, there are several obstacles faced, such as time constraints and differences in student motivation in participating in literacy activities. Therefore, further efforts are needed to overcome these obstacles, such as teacher training, providing relevant teaching materials, and utilizing digital technology. With a more holistic approach, Indonesian language learning can be a more effective tool in developing students' critical thinking skills, which contributes to improving the overall quality of education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school supervisors in fostering teachers' pedagogical competence, which includes the ability to design, implement and evaluate learning effectively. Pedagogical competence is one of the main competencies that teachers must have to improve the quality of education. The research method used is a qualitative approach with interview, observation and document analysis techniques. The results showed that school supervisors play a significant role in fostering teachers' pedagogical competence through academic supervision, mentoring and ongoing training. In addition, school supervisors also assist teachers in identifying student learning needs and designing innovative learning strategies. The constraints faced are lack of time and resources, but these can be overcome through good coordination between supervisors, principals and teachers. This study recommends strengthening the role of supervisors through intensive training and providing adequate facilities.

Abstract

Permainan tradisional merupakan salah satu warisan budaya yang sarat akan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Permainan ini tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai media pembelajaran yang mampu mengembangkan aspek sosial, emosional, dan fisik anak. Sayangnya, seiring perkembangan teknologi dan perubahan gaya hidup, permainan tradisional semakin terpinggirkan, terutama di kalangan anak-anak. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melestarikan permainan tradisional sebagai bagian dari pendidikan karakter di tingkat sekolah dasar melalui integrasi dalam proses pembelajaran. Metode pengabdian ini menggunakan edukasi, praktik, dan dokumentasi. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa saat bermain permainan tradisional, siswa dapat melepaskan emosinya dengan berteriak, tertawa, dan bergerak aktif. Gerakan dalam permainan tradisional, seperti berlari, melompat, berputar ternyata dapat membuat kepuasan, keseruan, dan membangkitkan rasa antusias memainkan permainan tradisional. Respons siswa menggambarkan bahwa permainan tradisional dapat menanamkan nilai luhur bangsa Indonesia. Selain itu, adanya respons antusias siswa dapat disimpulkan bahwa permainan tradisional juga menimbulkan kepuasan/keseruan dalam bermain, tidak kalah dengan permainan modern

Abstract

Bullying significantly impacts students' mental, social, and academic well-being, particularly in schools. This study analyzes bullying and proposes an anti-bullying program through a descriptive literature review. By reviewing scientific journals and research reports, it identifies the prevalence, causes, impacts, and effectiveness of existing programs. Findings indicate that 30-40% of students experience physical, verbal, or cyberbullying. Contributing factors include power imbalances, limited teacher involvement, and weak family support. Bullying impacts include anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, and declining academic performance.Programs emphasizing empathy and cooperation with active student participation are more effective than teacher-centered approaches. This study introduces a novel framework combining technology for reporting and monitoring cases with a community-based strategy involving students, teachers, and parents. This approach is essential to address challenges like cyberbullying in the digital era. By promoting collaboration among all school stakeholders, the program aims to create a safe and inclusive environment for students. The study provides evidence-based insights and practical solutions for developing more effective anti-bullying strategies, adaptable for schools in Indonesia and beyond. Abstrak Bullying berdampak signifikan pada kesejahteraan mental, sosial, dan akademik siswa, terutama di lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini menganalisis fenomena bullying dan mengusulkan program anti-bullying melalui tinjauan literatur deskriptif. Dari berbagai jurnal ilmiah dan laporan penelitian, ditemukan bahwa 30-40% siswa mengalami bullying, baik fisik, verbal, maupun siber. Faktor penyebabnya meliputi ketimpangan kekuasaan, minimnya keterlibatan guru, dan lemahnya dukungan keluarga, sedangkan dampaknya mencakup kecemasan, depresi, rendahnya kepercayaan diri, dan penurunan prestasi akademik. Program yang menekankan empati dan kerja sama dengan melibatkan siswa secara aktif terbukti lebih efektif dibandingkan pendekatan tradisional yang berfokus pada guru. Studi ini memperkenalkan kerangka baru yang mengintegrasikan teknologi untuk pelaporan dan pemantauan kasus, serta strategi berbasis komunitas yang melibatkan siswa, guru, dan orang tua. Pendekatan ini relevan untuk mengatasi tantangan seperti cyberbullying di era digital. Dengan mendorong kolaborasi seluruh elemen sekolah, program ini bertujuan menciptakan lingkungan yang aman dan inklusif. Studi ini memberikan wawasan berbasis bukti serta solusi praktis untuk mengembangkan strategi anti-bullying yang lebih efektif dan dapat diterapkan di sekolah-sekolah Indonesia.

Abstract

This study employs bibliometric analysis to map the evolution and dissemination of flipped classroom methodologies in educational research, with a focus on its implementation in K-12 and higher education. Using VOSviewer to analyze data extracted from major academic databases, we identified key trends, collaborations, and thematic concentrations within the literature from 2004 to 2023. The results highlight the flipped classroom as a central node interconnected with digital education technologies such as MOOCs and online learning platforms, indicating its pivotal role in transforming traditional educational paradigms into more student-centered approaches. The analysis reveals a strong link between flipped classrooms and improved engagement and adaptability in various educational settings, emphasizing the model's versatility. However, gaps remain in equitable access to technology and comprehensive assessments of long-term impacts, suggesting directions for future research and policy development. This study provides foundational insights for educators, policymakers, and researchers aiming to optimize and expand flipped classroom practices.

Abstract

Early childhood education (ECE) plays a fundamental role in children's development, which is not only limited to cognitive aspects, but also includes emotional and social development. Holistic education at an early age integrates these three aspects simultaneously, giving children the opportunity to develop optimally in various dimensions. Thus, a holistic approach in early childhood education is considered crucial in creating a strong foundation for further development. This article aims to analyze the importance of holistic education, as well as how the integration of cognitive, emotional, and social aspects can affect children's overall development. Through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research approach, this article examines various previous studies on holistic education for early childhood, focusing on the relationship between education that emphasizes cognitive, emotional, and social development. This study shows that the integration of these three aspects not only enriches children's learning experiences but also plays a role in improving their psychological and social well-being. Therefore, holistic education is a very relevant model to be applied in early childhood education institutions to support optimal development in the future.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk generasi muda yang tidak hanya berkompeten secara akademik tetapi juga memiliki jiwa entrepreneur yang beretika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana pendidikan karakter dapat diterapkan dalam membentuk jiwa kewirausahaan siswa SMA dengan pendekatan berbasis kearifan lokal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi langsung, dan dokumentasi di beberapa SMA yang telah mengimplementasikan program kewirausahaan berbasis karakter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan karakter telah diterapkan dalam pembelajaran dan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, namun masih belum memiliki model yang baku. Selain itu, kearifan lokal memiliki potensi besar dalam memperkuat nilai-nilai karakter siswa, seperti kejujuran, gotong royong, dan kreativitas, tetapi belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal dalam pengembangan usaha siswa. Beberapa tantangan utama dalam implementasi pendidikan karakter dalam kewirausahaan adalah kurangnya pelatihan guru, keterbatasan dukungan dari dunia usaha, serta kurangnya pemanfaatan teknologi dalam program kewirausahaan siswa. Sebagai solusi, penelitian ini merekomendasikan pembelajaran berbasis proyek serta peningkatan kolaborasi dengan pelaku usaha lokal agar siswa mendapatkan pengalaman nyata dalam dunia bisnis. Selain itu, pemanfaatan teknologi digital dalam kewirausahaan juga perlu ditingkatkan agar siswa lebih inovatif dan adaptif terhadap perkembangan zaman. Dengan model ini, diharapkan sekolah dapat mencetak lulusan yang tidak hanya memiliki keterampilan kewirausahaan, tetapi juga berkarakter kuat serta mampu mengembangkan usaha berbasis kearifan lokal secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Global issues related to Friday sermons include the potential spread of radical ideology, extremism, and discriminatory messages, which can contribute to social inequality and conflict. Additionally, the lack of education and awareness in sermons may affect the understanding of religious teachings and global issues, leading to knowledge gaps and social divisions. Despite these concerns, few studies have specifically analyzed the components of arguments used in Friday sermons in the City. This study aims to describe the components of arguments in Friday sermons in Makassar City. The method used in this research uses qualitative research methods in the form of discourse analysis methods carried out in 5 districts, namely Bontoala, Mamajang, Panakkukang, Rappocini, and Tamalate in Makassar City. A purposive sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 15 respondents. The data collection technique was done by recording the sermon directly. The results showed six components used to construct arguments in Friday sermons in Makassar, including claim, data, warrant, backing, modal qualifier, and rebuttal. The study's results are expected to improve the ability of the preachers in charge of Friday prayers to utilize various argument components in each sermon delivered. In addition, using components with creative techniques is important to attract the attention of the Friday congregation.
