Abstract

Twenty-first-century physical education should develop students’ responsibility, collaboration, and self-determined learning; however, learning models integrating these aspects remain limited. This study aimed to develop a responsibility learning model based on Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR), integrated with collaborative skills and heutagogical principles in junior high school physical education. The study employed a Research and Development method using the ADDIE model. The participants included physical education teachers, expert validators, and 60 eighth-grade students. The instruments consisted of a needs-analysis questionnaire, focus group discussion guidelines, expert validation sheets, observation sheets, and the TARE instrument. Data were analyzed using Aiken’s V, CFA, construct reliability, percentages, and a paired sample t-test. The results showed that the model was valid, practical, and effective. Students’ responsibility scores increased from 2.7384 to 3.2243, with t = 6.8575 and p < .001. The model also supported collaborative behavior and learner autonomy.

Abstract

School and madrasah futsal players often face match pressure, spectator reactions, and performance demands that may influence their mental toughness. This study aimed to examine the relationship of self-confidence and competitive anxiety with mental toughness among MA NW Gonjong futsal players. A quantitative correlational approach was used, involving 20 players selected through total sampling. The instruments consisted of self-confidence, competitive anxiety, and mental toughness scales. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, assumption tests, correlation, and multiple regression. The results showed that self-confidence and competitive anxiety simultaneously had a significant relationship with mental toughness (F = 4.457; p = 0.028), with the model contributing 34.4%. However, partial tests showed that self-confidence (p = 0.068) and competitive anxiety (p = 0.718) were not significant predictors. In conclusion, the combination of both variables is related to mental toughness, but their partial relationships were not statistically strong.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examined the impact of four psychological factors—motivation, self-confidence, autonomy, and personal and social responsibility—on learning outcomes in physical education among grade X students in Narmada District, Lombok Barat. While prior studies have explored these factors individually, limited research addresses their combined influence. This ex-post facto study employed questionnaires to measure psychological traits and academic records to assess student outcomes. Regression analysis revealed significant positive correlations between each psychological factor and physical education performance. Motivation and autonomy had the strongest effects, accounting for 52% and 55% of the variance, respectively. Self-confidence explained 46% and personal and social responsibility 50%. Notably, self-confidence and responsibility also demonstrated moderate correlations with academic performance (r = 0.68 and r = 0.71, respectively). These findings highlight the integral role of psychological development in shaping physical education outcomes. Motivation boosts engagement, while autonomy—enabled through choice and self-direction—enhances both participation and performance. Though self-confidence and responsibility had slightly lesser effects, they remain vital contributors to success. The study underscores the importance of creating a learning environment that fosters psychological strengths alongside physical skills. Integrating these factors into physical education programs can enhance student engagement, accountability, and academic achievement. Educators are encouraged to adopt autonomy-supportive and responsibility-building strategies to support holistic development. The study concludes by advocating for continued research into the long-term effects of these psychological traits and their interactions. Emphasizing both mental and physical growth is essential for promoting sustainable student success in physical education contexts.

Abstract

Physical education learning in elementary schools has a significant role in developing students' physical literacy. However, physical literacy is not only related to physical abilities, but is also influenced by psychological factors, such as students' motivation and self-confidence in the learning context. This study aims to analyze the domains of motivation and self-confidence using the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy (CAPL-2) Questionnaire in elementary school students. The design used in this research is a cross-sectional study design, which aims to collect data at one time (point time approach). The research results obtained that the percentage of motivation and self-confidence scores for elementary school students is as follows: beginning 0%; progressing 16.67%; achieving 33.33%; excelling 50%. The data shows that elementary school students have excellent levels of motivation and self-confidence (excelling category) and have exceeded the recommended physical literacy levels associated with substantial health benefits. In the context of physical education learning in primary schools, strengthening students' motivation and building self-confidence will not only improve their physical skills, but will also help them develop positive attitudes towards physical activity and overall health.
