Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model on the learning outcomes of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in fourth-grade students of SDN 060914 Medan Sunggal in the 2025/2026 academic year. The main problem in this study is the low learning outcomes of students in IPAS caused by monotonous conventional learning, centered on the teacher, and the lack of use of visual media. This type of research is quantitative with an experimental method (Pre-Experimental Design) in the form of One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study population includes all fourth-grade students of SDN 060914 Medan Sunggal, totaling 54 students. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique, so that class IVB, totaling 27 students, was selected as the experimental class. Data collection techniques used multiple-choice tests, student response questionnaires, and documentation. The research instrument was tested for validity using the Product Moment correlation formula and for reliability using Cronbach's Alpha using SPSS 22. The test results showed a reliability index of 0.936 for the test item and 0.904 for the questionnaire, both of which are considered very strong. A significant improvement in students' social studies learning outcomes after implementing the Jigsaw learning model was demonstrated through a hypothesis test (t-test) with a significance value (2-tailed) of <0.05. Furthermore, student questionnaire responses indicated a very positive response to the implemented model.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of parental role, the level of students’ character education, and the influence of parental role on the character education of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 067246 Flamboyan Raya Medan in the academic year 2025/2026. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The population consisted of 30 fifth-grade students and their parents. Data were collected using questionnaires that had met validity and reliability requirements, with Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.801 for the Parental Role instrument and 0.799 for the Character Education instrument. Data were analyzed using normality testing, Pearson Product-Moment correlation, t-test, and coefficient of determination analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 25.0. The results showed that both parental role and students’ character education were categorized as good, with mean scores of 84.27 and 81.43, respectively. The correlation analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between parental role and students’ character education (r = 0.527; sig. = 0.003 < 0.05). The hypothesis test showed that the calculated t-value was 3.277, which was higher than the t-table value of 2.048, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. The coefficient of determination indicated that parental role contributed 27.77% to students’ character education, while the remaining 72.23% was influenced by other factors. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant influence of parental role on the character education of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 067246 Flamboyan Raya Medan in the academic year 2025/2026.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of third-grade students at SD Swasta HKBP Padang Bulan Medan in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject, particularly on the topic of Indonesian Landforms. The purpose of this study was to improve students' learning outcomes through the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles. The participants were 26 third-grade students of SD Swasta HKBP Padang Bulan Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and observation sheets of teacher and student activities. The results showed a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes in each cycle. In the pre-test stage, only 4 students (15.38%) achieved mastery learning with an average score of 44.53. After the implementation of the CTL model in Cycle I, the number of students achieving mastery increased to 9 students (34.61%) with an average score of 63.92. In Cycle II, the number of students achieving mastery learning increased to 20 students (76.92%) with an average score of 77.69. Teacher activity improved from 66% in Cycle I to 86% in Cycle II, while student activity increased from 58% to 80%. These findings indicate that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model effectively improves students' learning outcomes by connecting learning materials to students' real-life experiences. The study was considered successful because it achieved the predetermined success indicator, namely a classical learning mastery level of 75%.
