Abstract

Indonesia is one of the world’s largest producers of coffee and spices; however, the integration of these resources into innovative MSME products remains limited. Jember Regency, known as a center of robusta coffee and a producer of spices such as ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon, holds great potential that has yet to be fully utilized by micro-enterprises. This program aimed to enhance the competitiveness of coffee-based MSMEs through herbal coffee innovation training. The method used was a participatory-educational approach, consisting of a pretest, theoretical presentations, hands-on roasting and blending practice, organoleptic testing, and final evaluation. Participants were drawn from MSME actors and coffee farmer communities in the Jember area. Results showed a significant cognitive improvement, with average scores increasing from 36 to 80 (a 122% increase). Participants also showed improved hardskills in herbal coffee formulation, label design, and digital marketing. A blend of 10% ginger and 5% cardamom was rated highest in taste tests. This activity demonstrates that local resource-based interventions can effectively improve product competitiveness and MSME self-sufficiency.

Abstract

Komoditas sayuran hortikultura yang mempunyai nilai komersial serta prospek usaha yaitu tanaman selada. Pupuk anorganik terus meningkat ketika muncul banyak permintaan masyarakat akan hasil pertanian pada waktu yang serentak, salah satu alternatif untuk menekan pemakaian pupuk anorganik yaitu dengan memanfaatkan pupuk organik. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui konsentrasi pupuk dan jenis media tanam yang tepat guna meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman selada. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 11 Januari 2021 di lahan Kecamatan Panji, Kabupaten Situbondo. Rancangan percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor perlakuan pertama yaitu konsentrasi pupuk organik cair 3 ml, 5 ml, dan 7 ml. Faktor perlakuan kedua yaitu jenis media tanam cocopeat, pasir, dan arang sekam. Variabel pengamatan yaitu tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, luas daun, bobot basah tajuk, bobot basah akar, bobot kering tajuk, bobot kering akar, dan volume akar. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian konsentrasi pupuk daun dan silika yang tepat guna untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan bibit anggrek Vanda hasil silangan V. sanderiana dengan anggrek V. lombokensis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama lima bulan pada bulan Agustus 2021 sampai bulan Januari 2022 di Green House dan di Lab. Kultur Jaringan, Politeknik Negeri Jember. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi pupuk daun sebanyak 4 taraf, D0: 0 g/l, D1: 3 g/l, D2: 5 g/l, and D3: 7 g/l dan faktor kedua konsentrasi pupuk silika sebanyak 4 taraf, S0: 0 ppm, S1: 50 ppm, S2: 100 ppm dan S3: 150 ppm. Dari rancangan penelitian tersebut, terdiri dari 16 kombinasi perlakuan yang masing – masing diulang sebanyak 3 kali, dan tiap ulangan terdiri dari 3 pot, sehingga terdapat 144 bibit anggrek. Parameter yang diamati adalah persentase hidup, tinggi bibit, panjang daun dan jumlah daun anggrek Vanda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi pupuk daun berpengaruh berbeda sangat nyata terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman, panjang daun, lebar daun, jumlah daun dan presentase hidup. Perlakuan konsentrasi pupuk silika berpengaruh berbeda sangat nyata hanya pada parameter jumlah daun tertentu dan parameter presentase hidup. Sementara interaksi pupuk daun dan pupuk silika hanya mampu meningkatkan parameter presentase hidup bibit anggrek Vanda.

Abstract

Introduction: The limitation of endosperm in seeds requires the propagation of Dendrobium orchid plants to be carried out using in vitro culture techniques. The composition of in vitro culture media needs to be considered because it greatly determines the success of plant propagation. The addition of sucrose and myo-inositol to the growth media can support the growth of explants planted in vitro. This study aimed to determine the best concentration of myo-inositol and sucrose added to the multiplication medium to increase the growth of Dendrobium orchid explants. Methods: This study used a Completely Randomized Design. The experimental treatments were the concentration of myo-inositol and sucrose added to the VW media consisting of four levels, namely myo-inositol 50 mg/l + sucrose 20 mg/l, myo-inositol 50 mg/l + sucrose 40 mg/l, myo-inositol 100 mg/l + sucrose 20 mg/l and myo-inositol 100 mg/l + sucrose 40 mg/l. Observation variables include plant height, shoot emergence time, number of shoots and shoot growth rate. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 5% α level and Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level. Results: The addition of 40 g/l sucrose + 50 mg/l myo-inositol to the in vitro culture medium was the best treatment in producing optimal explant growth. Conclusion: The addition of 40 g/l sucrose can reduce the addition of myo-inositol to VW media by up to 50% to propagate Dendrobium orchids in vitro.

Abstract

AbstrakTanaman krisan varietas Suciono merupakan tanaman hias yang potensial dikembangkan dan diminati oleh penduduk dunia, yang ditunjukkan dengan permintaan pasar terhadap tanaman krisan meningkat sepanjang tahun. Hal ini menyebabkan perbanyakan krisan secara in vitro sangat penting untuk dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) dan Benzly Amino Purine (BAP) terhadap multiplikasi tunas krisan varietas Suciono. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan satu faktor yakni kombinasi hormon IAA dan BAP yang 9 kombinasi, yakni 0 mg/L +  1,5 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 2 mg/L; dan 1 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L dimana setiap kombinasi diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Variabel yang diamati meliputi analisis histologis kalus, waktu muncul tunas, jumlah tunas, tinggi tunas, dan jumlah daun. Hasil analisis ragam atau ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi IAA 0 mg/L dan BAP 2 mg/L merupakan kombinasi konsentrasi terbaik untuk multiplikasi tunas. Penambahan BAP 2 mg/L mampu menghasilkan persentase muncul tunas. 100%, jumlah tunas 3 per-eksplan, tinggi tunas 7 cm, dan jumlah daun sebanyak 16 helai.AbstractThe variety Suciono of chrysanthemum is a potential ornamental plant that is in demand by the world's population, as indicated by the increasing market demand for chrysanthemum plants throughout the year. This  has led to the importance of in vitro propagation of chrysanthemum. The aim of the this study is to determine the effect of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) and Benzly Amino Purine (BAP) on the multiplication of chrysanthemum shoots of the Suciono variety. The design of this study used nodus explants, treated with a combination of IAA hormones and BAP. It is make 9 combinations, and then the combinations of hormones is 0 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2 mg/L; 0,5 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 1,5 mg/L; 1 mg/L + 2 mg/L; and 1 mg/L + 2,5 mg/L.  The observed variables included histological analysis of callus, time of shoot emergence,  number of shoots, shoots height, and number of leaves. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment with 0 mg/L IAA and 2 mg/L BAP was the best concentration for shoots multiplication. The addition of 2 mg/L BAP was able to produce a percentage of shoots emergence of 100%, 3 shoots per explant, shoots height of 7 cm and 16 leaves.

Abstract

Pisang Cavendish (Musa acuminata L.) memiliki nilai ekonomi yang tinggi dan memiliki peluang pasar yang bagus sehingga produksinya perlu ditingkatkan. Kendala yang dapat ditemukan dalam budidaya pisang adalah ketersediaan bibit yang terbatas. Salah satu alternatif untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut adalah dengan perbanyakan kultur jaringan pada media yang telah dimodifikasi dengan IAA dan BAP pada konsentrasi yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi IAA dan BAP terhadap pertumbuhan eksplan pisang pada perbanyakan secara kultur in vitro. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan Politeknik Negeri Jember, pada bulan Juli hingga November 2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi IAA yang terdiri atas 2 taraf, yaitu 4 dan 5 ppm yang diperoleh dengan melarutkan IAA sebanyak 4 dan 5 mg dalam aquadest hingga 1 l. Faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi BAP yang terdiri atas 2 taraf, yaitu 8 dan 10 ppm yang yang diperoleh dengan melarutkan BAP sebanyak 8 dan 10 mg dalam aquadest hingga 1 l. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Penambahan IAA dan BAP pada media MS bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan tinggi dan jumlah tunas eksplan pisang cavendish. Penambahan 5 ppm IAA secara nyata meningkatkan tinggi tanaman pada 3 – 7 MST dan jumlah ekslan pada 7 – 12 MST dibandingkan penambahan 4 ppm IAA. Eksplan pisang cavendish yang diinokulasi pada media MS yang ditambahkan 5 ppm IAA + 8 ppm BAP menghasilkan tunas terbanyak pada 12 MST.

Abstract

ABSTRACTOne of the most popular orchids and cultivated by Indonesia and other countries is Phalaenopsis. The main disease of Phalaenopsis orchids in Indonesia is soft rot caused by bacteria Dickeya dadantii. The purpose of this study was to know the resistanctcy of Phalaenopsis hybrid to soft rot disease. The experiment was conducted at the Bacterial Plant Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection, the Greenhouse of Leuwikopo, Bogor Agricultural University, and the plastic house of Alam Sinar Sari Dramaga, Bogor from June 2014 to February 2015. The experimental design was randomized block design with three replications. Five genotypes of hybrid Phalaenopsis were tested, namely Phal. KHM 205, Phal. KHM 1126, Phal. KHM 1318, Phal. AMP 17, and Phal. KHM 2249. Phal. amabilis, Phal. esmeralda, Phal. amboinensis, and Phal. cornu-cervi were used as controls. The resistance testing was performed by inoculating bacteria D. dadantii on leaves of the orchids. The results showed all Phalaenopsis hybrid showed disease symptoms after inoculation. Phal. KHM 2249 had the lowest number of fallen leaves and the highest number of survive plants compared to the other hybrid Phalaenopsis. Survival rate was likely related to peroxidase activity and leaf thickness.Keywords: fallen leaves, leaf thickness, peroxidase, Phalaenopsis

Abstract

Applying environmentally friendly technology in melon cultivation aims to create sustainable agriculture. Nutrient and plant growth regulators management are simple to apply and have a relatively rapid effect on melon fruit production. Water footprint assessment in melon cultivation is crucial for ensuring sustainable agricultural practices and efficient water use. This study aimed to evaluate the electroconductivity of nutrient solutions and GA3 concentration in increasing fruit production and water footprint efficiency. This research was conducted from June to September 2022 at Tefa SGH Polije. This research used a completely randomized design with treatments that consisted of nine combinations of nutrient solution electrical conductivities (2.8, 3.2, and 3.6 mS cm-1) and GA3 concentrations (0, 60, and 120 mg L-1). Observation variables were fruit diameter, edible part thickness, fruit sweetness level, fruit weight, and water footprint. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and DMRT. Applying 2.8 mS cm-1 nutrient solution (NS) + 60 mg L-1 GA3 was the best treatment according to fruit diameter, edible part thickness, and fruit sweetness level. Although statistically, it had no significant effect, 2.8 mS cm-1 NS + 60 mg L-1 GA3 increased fruit weight by 18.75% and water footprint efficiency by 15.48% compared to control.
