Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a chronic malnutrition condition caused by a numeuros of factors, including inadequate maternal nutritional nutrition during pregnancy, inadequate exclusive breastfeeding, and infectious diseases. There are also some indirect factors .Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the risk factors for stunting in children aged 6-36 months in the Sambirejo Health Center area. study. Method: This study is an observational analytic study using a cross-sectional approach that gathers data via a questionnaire. Sampling Techniques using the Non- Probability Sampling technique, and the sample size was estimated using the Lemeshow formula. The Prevalence Ratio (PR) was calculated to evaluate the strength of the link between the factors assumed to be linked with stunting. Result and Discussion: Of the 65 samples,  Four children were stunted, while 61 were not. Infants who were not exclusively breastfed, infants with a history of LBW, infants with a history of SBL, and family planning of 2 years both were risk factors for stunting in this study. Conclusions: Some variables in this study had no impact on the incidence of stunting. In this study, the risk factors for stunting were LBW, SBL, and infants without exclusive breastfeeding, and child spacing was a neutral factor for the occurrence of stunting in children aged 6-36 months.

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease with a significant treatment burden. Current multidrug-resistant (MDR)-TB therapy uses the bedaquiline, pretomanid, linezolid, and moxifloxacin (BPaL/M) combination. This combination is effective with a short treatment duration. Linezolid is one of the components of the BPaL/M regimen. However, despite its effectiveness, it has side effects that impact treatment management and success. This study aimed to find the association between characteristics and comorbidities with the incidence of linezolid side effects in patients with MDR-TB treated with the BPaL/M regimen. Methods: This was a retrospective analytic study of MDR-TB patients receiving BPaL/M combination. Data were collected from medical records and analyzed using Fisher's exact test to analyze the association between patient characteristics and comorbidities with the incidence of linezolid side effects, namely hematological disorders, peripheral neuropathy, and visual disturbances. Results: There was no significant association between overall patient characteristics and the incidence of linezolid adverse events. However, the results of bivariate analysis showed a significant association in age >50 years old with the incidence of hematological disorders, as well as in patients who have diabetes mellitus (DM) with the incidence of peripheral neuropathy as a side effect of linezolid. Conclusion: Monitoring of MDR-TB patients aged >50 years old and those with DM to minimize the incidence of side effects during treatment is essential. This effort is expected to support the success of the national TB control and treatment program.

Abstract

The prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) among children and adolescents has been progressively increasing, with Type 1 DM constituting the majority of cases. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major long-term complication, yet early cardiac involvement remains poorly understood in this population. This study aimed to assess the association between glycaemic control and cardiac function in paediatric patients with DM. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted involving 30 children with type 1 or type 2 DM at H. Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan. Glycaemic control was assessed using HbA1c levels. Cardiac function was evaluated using electrocardiography (ECG) and echocardiographic parameters, including ejection fraction (EF), fractional shortening (FS), tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE), and E/A ratio. Data were analysed using Chi-Square and Mann-Withney Test. Most subjects (90%) had poor glycaemic control (HbA1c ≥7%). Cardiac dysfunction (reduced EF <55%) was identified in 16.7% of patients. However, no statistically significant associations were found between cardiac function and HbA1c, duration of diagnosis, blood pressure, or body mass index (BMI) (p>0.05). There was no significant relationship was found between glycaemic control and cardiac function, highlighting the need for more sensitive diagnostic tools and long-term follow-up to detect subclinical cardiovascular complications.

Abstract

Background: Discipline is a crucial aspect of delivering quality healthcare services in hospitals, yet it is often overlooked. Effective service delivery can significantly enchance the overall quality of a hospital. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the work discipline of nurses at Banda Regional General Hospital in Central Maluku. Methodology: This research employs a quantitative analytical survey design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consists of 46 nurses employed at Banda Regional General Hospital. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through Logistic Regression with significance level of α = 0,05. Results: The Chi-Square test results indicate that factors influencing the work discipline of nurses at Banda Regional Hospital include achievement, the job itself, leadership role models, close supervision and punitive sanctions. Logistic regression analysis revealed that most significant factor affecting nurses’work discipline is the job itself, with a p-value (sig) of 0,003. The limited number of nurses, coupled with the delegation of tasks that do not align with their core responsibilities, significantly increases their workload. As a results, nurses may struggle to maintain discipline in performing their duties. Conclusion: The study concludes that both internal and external factors impact the work discipline of nurses. Internal factors influencing nurse discipline at Banda Regional Hospital include achievement and the job itself. External factors include leadership role models, close supervision, punitive sanctions. Among these, the study highlights that the most influential internal factor is the job itself. Based on the findings, it is recommended that the management of Banda Regional Hospital in Central Maluku Regency implement strategies to enchance nurse discipline by addressing the influencing factors identified in this study. Additionally, nurses are expected to maintain high level of discipline and consistently deliver the highest quality of care.
