Abstract

Psychological factors like emotional intelligence influence kids' willingness to exercise, especially in extracurricular sports like futsal. Schools must understand the non-technical aspects that affect student involvement and exercise quality to build more successful and sustainable coaching programs. This study aims to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and exercise motivation in futsal extracurricular students at middle school. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population was all 50 extracurricular participants, with a sample of 25 boys and 25 girls selected through a purposive sampling technique at Middle School 27 Makassar. Emotional intelligence data were collected using a questionnaire structured based on indicators of self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, while exercise motivation data were obtained through a questionnaire based on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation aspects. The data collection technique was carried out through a structured survey, and all instruments have undergone validity and reliability tests. Data analysis used Pearson Product Moment correlation to test the relationship between the two variables. The results of the study showed a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and students' motivation to practice, meaning that the higher a student's emotional intelligence, the higher their motivation to participate in futsal training. This finding indicates the need for a coaching program that focuses not only on technical skills but also on strengthening students' emotional aspects. The study's conclusion confirms that emotional intelligence is an important predictor in increasing students' motivation to practice in extracurricular futsal activities.

Abstract

Falls are a serious and common public health problem in older adults. Falls can cause injuries, bruises, fractures, dislocations, decreased function, loss of independence, hospitalization, and even death. Various tools have been validated to detect balance disorders and fall risk in community physiotherapy practice. Two of these are the Four Square Step Test (FSST), which assesses dynamic balance through steps in four directions, and the Fukuda Stepping Test (FST), which evaluates the function of the vestibular and proprioceptive systems in maintaining postural balance. This community service program aims to examine the level of balance and fall risk in older adults in Segeri District, Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency using the FSST and FST. The target group is residents aged ?60 years who are able to stand and follow simple instructions, with purposive sampling used. Based on the results of the balance test with Fukuda stepping, the majority of elderly people were in the moderate risk category as many as 18 people (45%), 11 people (27.5%) were classified as having low risk and 11 other people (27.5%) were classified as having high risk, which indicates the need for further clinical physiotherapy intervention. The results of the fall risk test using the four step test showed that the majority of respondents were in the moderate risk category, namely as many as 17 people (42.5%), 12 respondents (30%) were included in the low risk category and 11 respondents (27.5%) were classified as having high risk. The results of this community service can be an early indicator to identify elderly people at risk of falling and determine the appropriate balance training program and vestibular rehabilitation for the elderly.ABSTRAKJatuh merupakan masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang serius dan umum terjadi pada orang lanjut usia.

Abstract

The appropriate genetic potential of an athlete or prospective athlete determines the development of their future performance and achievement and reduces the risk of pathological conditions such as overtraining. This study aimed to determine the genotype variation thought to play a role in differences in exercise results and explosive power performance, namely the ACE gene. The research method used a cross-sectional design to describe the relationship between a factor and its effects on how genetic mutation variations play a role in an athlete's physical performance by involving 54 male and female badminton athletes with an average age of 18 years. The study was conducted by analysing the development of badminton skills with the same exercise routine, then being given an explosive power test in the form of a vertical jump through the Lewis nomogram assessment. The initial test was in the first month, and the second test was after six months. The results showed significant differences between the groups with variation II, ID and DD genotypes of the ACE gene. The DD genotype group showed better training adaptation in the explosive power test than genotype II and ID with a significant value (P<0.05). This study concludes that athletes with genotype DD variations adapt better to explosive power training than athletes with genotype II and ID. Athletes with genetic mutations II and ID in the ACE gene are more suitable for badminton sports requiring complex movement abilities and skills, which require good anaerobic and aerobic abilities.
