Abstract

Advancements in information technology have driven the development of home security systems based on the Internet of Things (IoT). This study aims to design a home security system using ESP32-CAM, multisensors, and Telegram for real-time monitoring. The system features face recognition using the Haar Cascade and LBPH algorithms, along with DHT22 and MQ-2 sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, and hazardous gases. The development method used is the prototype model. Testing results showed a face recognition accuracy of 95.31% and the ability to detect temperatures above 40°C and gas concentrations exceeding 300 PPM. The system performs optimally at a distance of 35–150 cm but is limited by extreme lighting and facial angle variations. In conclusion, the system enhances home surveillance effectiveness through real-time monitoring and reliable remote access control

Abstract

This study aims to implement the Random Forest Regression algorithm to predict maize yields in North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. Historical data from 2020–2024 were used, with variables including planting area, harvested area, productivity, and production. The study follows the CRISP-DM methodology, which includes the stages of business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and deployment. Modeling was carried out using Google Colab with GPU/TPU support and Google Drive integration. The dataset was divided into 80% training data and 20% testing data. The model was developed with parameters such as max_depth = 10 and n_estimators = 200. Evaluation results indicated excellent performance, with an R² value of 0.9974, RMSE of 42.98 (4.02%), MAE of 26.188 (2.45%), and MAPE of 7.12%, all of which fall under the “excellent” category. The trained model was then integrated into a website to facilitate users in predicting maize production based on input variables. Questionnaire results from 10 respondents showed a very high satisfaction level, with an average score of 96.6%, classified as excellent.

Abstract

The increasing risk of electrical fires caused by overcurrent, overheating cables, and the lack of early monitoring mechanisms in conventional household electrical protection systems has become a significant safety concern, as most protection devices only disconnect power without providing real-time monitoring or early warnings. This study aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based electrical protection system capable of detecting abnormal electrical conditions and providing early warning notifications. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with several sensors, including the PZEM-004T sensor to monitor electrical parameters, the DS18B20 sensor to detect cable temperature, the MQ-2 sensor for smoke detection, and a flame sensor for fire detection. The research methodology includes system design, hardware and software integration, and performance testing through sensor functionality tests and response time measurements. The testing results show that the PZEM-004T sensor measured voltage in the range of 212.50–213.60 V and current around 1.95–1.96 A during testing. The DS18B20 sensor recorded temperatures between 27.81°C and 28.94°C with an average response time of 12.05 seconds when the threshold was exceeded. The MQ-2 sensor achieved a 100% success rate in detecting smoke, while the flame sensor detected fire in approximately 85% of the trials, with response times of 1.4 seconds and 1.7 seconds before triggering automatic power disconnection via a relay. The system also transmitted monitoring data and warning notifications through a web application and Telegram using cloud-based IoT communication, demonstrating its potential to improve household electrical safety through integrated monitoring, automatic protection, and early warning notifications.
