Abstract

Penggunaan media audio dalam bentuk lagu kreasi merupakan salah satu media yang inovatif untuk mengajar Bahasa Inggris kepada anak – anak. Hal ini berhubungan dengan karakteristik anak – anak yaitu memiliki tingkat konsentrasi yang rendah. Agar mereka tetap fokus dalam belajar, mereka harus melakukan aktivitas yang menyenangkan misalnya, bernyanyi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media audio berbasis lagu kreasi terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan desain post-test only control group. Terdapat dua sampel penelitian yaitu SDN 1 Banjar sebagai grup eksperimen dan SDN 3 Banjar sebagai grup kontrol yang ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah post-test, RPP dan soal try out. Ketika data telah terkumpul, data tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan program SPSS 21 secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata – rata dari kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Nilai rata – rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 79.50 sedangkan nilai rata – rata kelompok kontrol adalah 65.60. Selain itu, dari hasil uji hipotesis nilai t observed (to) 2.807 lebih besar dari t critical value (tcv) 2.021. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan lagu kreasi sebagai media mengajar terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa.Kata Kunci : lagu kreasi, media audio, kompetensi Bahasa Inggris. The use of audio media in the form of scripted songs is one of innovative media for teaching English to young learners. It is related to the characteristics of young learners who have short attention span. In order to keep them focus in the lesson, they have to be involved in a pleasure activity like singing songs. This study aimed at investigating the effect of scripted songs based audio media on students’ English competency. This research was an experimental research with post-test only control group design. There were two samples of this study namely SDN 1 Banjar as experimental group and SDN 3 Banjar as the control group which were determined by using random sampling technique. The instruments used to collect data were post-test, teaching scenario and try out test. When the data had been collected, it was analyzed by means of SPSS 21 descriptively and inferentially. The result shows that the mean score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group. The mean score of the experimental group is 79.50 meanwhile the mean score of the control group is 65.60. In addition, from the t-test result, the t observed (to) 2.807 is higher that t critical value (tcv) 2.021. It indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of using scripted songs as teaching media on the students’ English competency.keyword : scripted songs, audio media, English competency

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah sebuah studi experimen yang menyelidiki efek dari penggunaan scripted song-based audio media pada kompetensi bahasa Inggris yang dimiliki oleh siswa kelas 5 di gugus 1 Kecamatan Kubutambaha, Buleleng-Bali pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Desain penelitian ini adalah post-test only control group design dan menggunakan teknik random sampling untuk menentukan sample penelitian. SDN 1 Kubutambahan ditentukan sebagai grup experimen yang kemudian diberikan perlakuan berupa scripted song-based audio media dan SDN 2 Kubutambahan ditentukan sebagai grup control yang kemudian diberikan perlakuan berupa conventional teaching. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukan bahwa grup experimen mencapai kompetensi bahasa Igggris yang lebih tinggi daripada grup control.itu dibuktikan oleh rata-rata nilai mereka dimana siswa grup experimen memperoleh nilai 90.17 dan siswa grup control memperoleh nilai 79.85. Hasil dari t-test juga membuktikan bahwa scripted song-based audio media memberikan efek signifikan terhadap kompetensi bahasa Inggris yang dimiliki oleh siswa-siswa kelas 5 di Subdisktrik 1, Kubutambahan.Kata Kunci : media audio, kompetensi bahasa Inggris, scripted song, This study was an experimental study which investigated the effect of scripted song-based audio media on the fifth grade students’ English competence in Kubutambahan Sub-district 1, Buleleng-Bali in academic year 2014/2015. The design of this study was post-test only control group design and used a random sampling technique to determine the sample. SDN 1 Kubutambahan was determined as the experimental group and further treated by scripted song-based audio media and SDN 2 Kubutambahan was determined as the control group and further treated by conventional teaching technique. The results of data analysis show that the experimental group students achieved a higher English competence than the control group. It was proven by their mean score where the experimental group students got 90.17 and the control group got 79.85. The result of the t-test also proves that scripted song-based audio media gave significant effect on the fifth grade students’ English competence. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah media audio yang berbasis lagu kreasi (Scripted Song) bisa meningkatkan kompetensi bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar di Gugus 2 Gerokgak. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dalam bentuk Post-Test Only Control Group Design. Ada eksperimen group dan kontrol group dalam penelitian ini. Mereka diberikan pengajaran yang berbeda. Dalam penelitian ini, semua siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar di Gugus 2 Gerokgak diambil sebagai populasi. Para siswa kelas lima dari SD Negeri 2 Tinga-Tinga (kelompok eksperimen) dan SD Negeri 3 Tinga-Tinga (kelompok kontrol) dipilih sebagai sampel melalui Random Sampling. Setelah diberi cara pengajaran yang berbeda, penulis menggunakan posttest untuk mendapatkan data dan menganalisanya secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Berdasarkan analisis deskriptif, nilai rata-rata dari kelompok eksperimen adalah 85.9, sedangkan kelompok kontrol 71.36. Dengan kata lain, kelompok eksperimen meraih nilai yang lebih tinggi untuk kompetensi bahasa Inggris dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil data analisis secara inferensial melalui independen sampel t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari t-observed adalah 6.500, melebihi nilai dari tcv (t-critical value) pada 1.667 (α= 5%). Jadi, hasil dari t-test mengindikasikan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Hal tersebut juga membuktikan bahwa media audio berbasis lagu kreasi (Scripted Song) bisa memberikan pengaruh (peningkatan) terhadap kompetensi bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci : media audio, kompetensi bahasa Inggris, lagu kreasi. This study aimed at finding out whether or not the audio media based on scripted songs give a significant effect to the fifth grade students’ English competence of primary schools at sub district 2 Gerokgak. This study was an experimental research in the form of Post-Test Only Control Group Design. There were experimental group and control group in this study. They were given different treatments. In this study, all fifth grade students of primary schools at sub district 2 Gerokgak were taken as the population. The fifth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Tinga-tinga (experimental group) and SD Negeri 3 Tinga-tinga (control group) were determined as the sample of the study through Random Sampling. After giving different treatments, the researcher used a posttest to obtain the data and analyzed them descriptively and inferentially. Based on descriptive analysis, the experimental group’s mean score was 85.9, while 71.36 for the control group. The experimental group achieved higher score in English competence than the control one. The results of the inferential statistical analysis through independent sample t-test show that value of t-observed was 6.500, exceeding value of tcv (t-critical value) at 1.667 (α= 5%). Thus, the result of the t-test indicates that there was a significant difference between the experimental and the control group. The study proves that the audio media based on scripted songs could give a significant effect to the students’ English competence. keyword : audio media, English competence, scripted songs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh dari permainan interatif berbasis ICT terhadap motivasi prestasi, prestasi Bahasa Inggris, dan secara simultan terhadap motivasi prestasi dan prestasi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Penelitian eksperimental ini mengambil 228 siswa sekolah dasar sebagai populasi di gugus V kecamatan Sukasada, kabupaten Buleleng tahun akademik 2016/2017, dimana 48 siswa yang melibatkan 24 siswa dari SD Negeri 4 Panji menjadi control group dan 24 siswa dari SD Negeri 2 Panji sebagai experimental group. Mereka dipilih sebagai sampel penelitian melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Data telah dikumpulkan melalui kuisioner motivasi prestasi dan post-test. Data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA satu jalan dan MANOVA dengan SPSS 22.0. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) siswa yang diajarkan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT memiliki motivasi prestasi yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajarkan dengan teknik konvensional, 2) siswa yang diajarkan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT memiliki prestasi Bahasa Inggris yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajarkan dengan teknik konvensional, dan 3) terdapat pengaruh simultan dari permainan interaktif berbasis ICT terhadap motivasi prestasi dan prestasi Bahasa Inggris siswa.Kata Kunci : Motivasi Prestasi, Permainan Interaktif Berbasis ICT, Prestasi Bahasa Inggris This study aimed at investigating the effect of ICT-based interactive game on students’ achievement motivation, English achievement, and simultaneously on students’ achievement motivation and English achievement. This experimental study employed 228 4th grade elementary school students as the population in cluster V of Sukasada district, Buleleng regency in academic year 2016/2017 wherein 48 students involving 24 students from SD Negeri 4 Panji as control group and 24 students from SD 2 Panji as experimental group. They were chosen as the sample through cluster random sampling. The data were collected through achievement motivation questionnaire and post-test. Those data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA and MANOVA assisted by SPSS 22.0. the findings showed that 1) the students who were taught by ICT-based interactive game achieved better achievement motivation than those who were taught by conventional teaching, 2) students who were taught by ICT-based interactive game achieved better English achievement than those who were taught by conventional teaching, and 3) there was simultaneous effect of ICT-based interactive game on students’ achievement motivation and English achievement.keyword : Achievement Motivation, English Achievement, ICT-based Interactive Game

Abstract

This experimental study aimed at finding out the significant effect of Scripted Song-based Audio Media towards English competency of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Tejakula in academic year 2014/2015. The design of this study was post-test only control group design. Random sampling technique was employed in order to define which class selected as control group or experimental group, resulted in class 5 of SDN 2 Tejakula randomly selected as the control group which was taught by using conventional teaching media and class SDN 1 Tejakula randomly selected as the experimental group which was taught by using Scripted Song-based Audio Media. Both groups consisted of 20 students each. The results of data analysis showed that the students who were taught by implementing Scripted Song-based Audio Media performed better than those who were taught by implementing conventional teaching media. The descriptive statistic analysis result of mean score of listening post-test in experimental group was 79, while in control group was 68. The mean score of speaking post-test in experimental group was 81 and in the control group was 70. In reading, the mean score in experimental group was 78.2 while in the control group was 68.7. The mean score of writing post-test 90.4 for experimental group and 76.1 for control group. The mean score of English competency in experimental group was 80.9 while the control group was 71.1. The results of t-test analysis of the tobs was 6.256. It was higher than the value of the tcv at 2.024394164(α = 0.05). Moreover, the result of observation indicated that the implementation of Scripted Song-based Audio Media motivated the students in comprehending English competence. In conclusion, Scripted Song-based audio media contributed in giving a significant effect to students’ English competency. keyword : English competency, Scripted songs

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna, fungsi dan strategi yang digunakan dalam penerjemahan peribahasa dalam film yang berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron. Analisia peribahasa ini dilakukan karena kata – kata yang terikat dengan budaya bahasa atau dikenal dengan istilah peribahasa sangat menarik untuk dipelajari dan terkadang makna yang mereka tidak selalu sesuai dengan yang diungkapkannya. Peneliti menggunakan film sebagai sumber pengambilan data karena film memberikan gambaran tentang penutur bahasa asing dalam percakapanya sehari – hari dan film yang berjudul The Avengers : Age of ultron digunakan karena film ini merupakan film baru dan merupakan film yang paling tunggu – tunggu di tahun 2015. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui makna dari peribahasa dalam film berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron, (2) untuk mengetahui fungsi peribahasa dalam film berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron dan (3) untuk mengetahui strategi penerjemahan peribahasa dalam film yang berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data tersebut dikumpulkan dengan menonton, mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikaasi makna, fungsi dan strategi dalam penerjemahan peribahasa. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah ScramCypher yang menyediakan transkripsi bahasa Inggris dan Indonesia untuk film tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 83 peribahasa yang ditemukan dalam film tersebut. Makna dari peribahasa tersebut dianalisis menggunakan konsep kontekstual oleh Halliday (2010) dan dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar peribahasa tersebut menggunakan konteks situasi dalam penggunaannya dalam film tersebut. Fungsi peribahasa tersebut dianalisis menggunakan teori McCharty dan O’dell dan sebagian besar peribahasa tersebut memiliki fungsi untuk mengkomentari orang. Dalam analisa strategi penerjemahan, hanya 60 dari 83 peribahasa yang terjemahkan dengan benar dan strategi yang paling sering digunakan dalam penerjemahan tersebut adalah 1) translation by paraphrase, 2) using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form, 3) using an idiom of similar meaning and form and 4) translation by omissionKata Kunci : Fungsi, Peribahasa, Makna, Strategi This study aims at finding out the meanings, functions and strategies used in the translation of idioms in movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron. The analysis of the idioms was done because words which are culturally bound with language or known as idioms are very interesting to be learned and sometimes their meanings are not exactly as what they say. The researcher used a movie as a source of data collection because it gave a reflection of native speakers in their daily conversation and the movie entitled “The Avengers : Age of Ultron” is used because this is a brand new movie in 2015 and it is the highest grossing movie of 2015. The purposes of this research were: (1) to find the meanings of idioms in the movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron, (2) to find out the functions of idioms in the movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron, and (3) to find out the strategies used in the translation of idioms in the movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron. This research was designed as a descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through watching, identifying, and classifying the meanings, the functions and the strategies used in the translation of idioms. The subject in this study is ScramCypher who provided both English and Indonesian subtitles in the movie. The result of this study showed that there are 83 idioms found in the movie. The meanings of idioms were analyzed using contextual concepts of meaning by Halliday (2010) and it can be concluded that most of the idioms consider context of situation on its usage in the movie. The functions of idioms were analyzed using McCharty and O’dell theory and most idioms found in the movie functioned to comment on people. In analyzing the translation strategies, there were only 60 idioms out of 83 which were translated equivalently and the most frequent translation strategies used are 1) translation by paraphrase, 2) using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form, 3) using an idiom of similar meaning and form and 4) translation by omissionkeyword : Function, Idioms, Meaning, Strategies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari permainan interatif berbasis ICT terhadap motivasi prestasi, prestasi Bahasa Inggris, dan secara simultan terhadap motivasi prestasi dan prestasi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Penelitian experimental ini mengambil 174 siswa sekolah dasar sebagai populasi di gugus 4 kecamatan Sukasada, Kabupaten Buleleng Tahun Akademik 2016/2017, dimana 44 siswa yang melibatkan 22 siswa dari SD Negeri 3 Sukasada menjadi kelompok kontrol dan 22 siswa dari SD Negeri 4 Sukasada sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Mereka dipilih sebagai sampel penelitian melalui teknik random sampling. Data telah dikumpulkan melalui kuisioner motivasi prestasi dan post-test. Data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan ANAVA dan MANOVA satu jalur dengan SPSS 22.0. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pertama, siswa yang diajarkan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT memiliki motivasi prestasi yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajarkan dengan teknik konvensional, kedua, siswa yang diajarkan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT memiliki prestasi Bahasa Inggris yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajarkan dengan teknik konvensional, ketiga terdapat pengaruh simultan dari permainan interaktif berbasis ICT terhadap motivasi prestasi dan prestasi Bahasa Inggris siswa.Kata Kunci : Motivasi Prestasi, Permainan Interaktif Berbasis ICT, Prestasi Bahasa Inggris, pelajar pemula This research purposed to investigate whether or not there was a significant effect on the use of ICT based interactive game on students’ achievement motivation and English achievement of the 6th grade of primary school. This quasi-experimental research implemented post-test only control group design. The population of this research was all the 6th grade of primary school in cluster 4 in Sukasada district. This research administered cluster random sampling to determine the sample of this research. As the result of administering cluster random sampling, the sample of this study was 22 students of 6th grade students in SD Negeri 3 Sukasada as the experimental group and 22 students of 6th grade in SD Negeri 4 Sukasada as the control group. The data were gathered by achievement motivation questionnaire and a post-test for both group. Then the data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA and MANOVA assisted by SPSS 22.0. The findings show that, first, the students who were taught by ICT-based interactive game achieved better achievement motivation than those who were taught by conventional teaching, second, the students who were taught by ICT-based interactive game achieved better English achievement than those who were taught by conventional teaching, and third, the was a simultaneous effect of ICT-based interactive game on students’ achievement motivation and English achievement.keyword : ICT-based interactive game, achievement motivation, English achievement, young learners

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ICT-based interactive game memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada prestasi belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas empat di gugus IV kecamatan Sukasada. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian semu yang menggunakan post-test only control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 174 siswa dari delapan sekolah dasar di gugus IV kecamatan Sukasada. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 23 siswa dari SDN 3 Sukasada dan 23 siswa dari SDN 4 Sukasada yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Data dianalisis secara kuantitatif dengan menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil dari uji hipotesis (independent t-test) menunjukkan bahwa to=2,838>tcv = 2,015 dan nilai signifikasi dari data adalah 0,007 lebih rendah dari α = 0,05. Dapat dibuktikan bahwa ICT-based interactive game memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada prestasi belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas empat. Kesimpulannya, ICT-based interactive game merupakan media pembelajaran yang efektif. Kata Kunci : prestasi siswa, ICT-based interactive game, pelajar usia dini The aim of this study was to justify whether ICT-based interactive game gave the significant effect on fourth grade students’ English achievement in cluster four in Sukasada district. It was a quasi-experimental research which used post-test only control group design. The population of this study was 174 students from eight elementary schools in cluster four in Sukasada district. The samples of this study were 23 students from SDN 3 Sukasada and 23 students from SDN 4 Sukasada which were selected by using cluster random sampling technique. The data were analyzed quantitatively by using descriptive and inferential statistics analysis. The result of hypothesis testing (independent t-test) shows that to=2.838>tcv = 2.015 and the significance value of the data was 0.007 lower than α = 0.05. It can be proved that ICT-based interactive game gives a significant effect towards students’ English achievement. In conclusion, ICT-based interactive game is an effective teaching media.keyword : English achievement, ICT-based interactive game, young learners

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan pada penggunaan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas empat sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi-experiment yang mengimplementasikan desain penelitian ¬post-test only control group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas empat sekolah dasar di kluster V kecamatan Sukasada. Penelitian ini menggunakan cluster random sampling untuk menentukan sampel pada penelitian ini. Hasil dari melaksanakan teknik tersebut yakni sample pada penelitian ini adalah 24 siswa kelas empat SD Negeri 2 Panji dan 24 siswa kelas empat SD Negeri 4 Panji. Independent sample t-test dilaksanakan guna memastikan kesetaraan dari dua gup tersebut. Maka dari itu, SD Negeri 2 Panji ditentukan sebagai grup eksperiment dan SD Negeri 4 Panji sebagai grup control. Perlakuan diberikan pada kedua grup yang mana grup eksperimen dibelajarkan menggunakan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT. Sedangkan grup control dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan media conventional. Pada akhir dari perlakuan, post-test dilaksanakan kepada kedua grup. Hasil dari post-test dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial dengan mengaplikasikan independent sample t-test. Sesuai dengan hasil dari statistik deskriptif, hal tersebut membuktikan bahwa siswa yang berada dalam grup eksperimen mampu meraih pencapaian yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang berada dalam grup control. Selain itu, hasil dari statistik inferensial memperlihatkan bahwa berdasarkan hasil dari t-test yang mana tobs lebih besar daripada tcv. Hal ini berarti bahwa penggunaan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT mampu memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas empat sekolah dasar pada kluster 5 di kecamatan Sukasada, kabupaten Buleleng pada tahun ajaran 2016/2017.Kata Kunci : prestasi bahasa Inggris, permainan interaktif berbasis ICT, pebelajar anak-anak This research purposed to investigate whether or not there was a significant effect on the use of ICT-based interactive game on students’ English achievement of the fourth grade of primary school. The independent sample t-test as part of the preliminary research administered to examine the equality of both groups. Therefore, SD Negeri 2 Panji became the experimental group and SD Negeri 4 Panji as the control group. The treatment was given to both group in which the experimental group treated by using ICT-based interactive game. Meanwhile, the control group was treated by using conventional teaching media. At the end of the treatment, the post-test was administered to both groups. The result of the post-test was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics by applying independent sample t-test. Based on the result of the descriptive analysis, the result revealed that the students in experimental group could gain better achievement than the students in control group. Moreover, the result of inferential analysis shows that the result of the independent sample t-test which tobs was higher than tcv. It means that the use of ICT-based interactive game contributes significant effect to students’ English achievement of fourth grade of primary school cluster 5 in Sukasada district, Buleleng regency in academic year 2016/2017.keyword : English achievement, ICT-based interactive game, young learners

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitiani ni bertujuan untuk mengetahu iadanya pengaruh signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa antara siswa yang diajar dengan menerapkan experiential learning dan mereka yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan kelompok posttest sebagai metode penelitian. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Singaraja pada tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan cluster random sampling untuk mengetahui sampel. Terdapat 27 siswa XI MIA 5 sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang diajar dengan menggunakan experiential learning dan 26 siswa XI MIA 6 sebagai kelompok kontrol yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis statistic deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa dalam kelompok eksperimen mencapai hasil yang lebih baik dar siswa dalam kelompok kontrol. Temuan tersebut diyakinkan oleh hasil kelompok eksperimen yaitu 87,52, sedangkan skor rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 81,23. Selanjutnya, hasi lanalisis statistic inferensial juga membuktikan pernyataan di atas, yang hasil tob adalah 4,107 dan nilai tcv adalah 1,6579. Ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai tob lebih tinggi dari pada tcv. Karena hasil tob lebih tinggi dari pada tcv, sehingga hipotesisnya diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Singaraja yang diajar dengan menerapkan experiential learning. Abstract This study aims to investigate whether or not there is a significant effect of students’ writing competence between students who were taught by implementing experiential learning and those who were taught by using conventional learning. This was an experimental research with posttest only group design as the research method. The population of this study wasthe eleventh-grade students of SMA N 1 Singaraja in academic year 2017/2018. This research administered cluster randomsampling to determine the sample. There were 27 students of XI MIA 5 assigned as the experimental group who were taught by using experiential learning and 26 students of XI MIA 6 were treated as the control group who were taught by using conventional learning. The derived data were analyzed by using descriptive as well as inferential statistics analysis. The result of the data analysis showed that students in experimental group achieved better result than students in control group. The findings were convinced by the result of descriptive statistics analysis which showed the mean score of experimental group was 87.52, meanwhile the mean score of control group was 81.23. Furthermore, the result of the inferential statistics analysis also proven statement above, which the result of tob was 4.107 and the value of tcv was 1.6579. It showed that the value of tobwas higherthanthetcv. Since the tob was higherthanthetcv, the hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that there was significanteffectof students’writingcompetenceoftheeleventh-gradestudents of SMA N 1 Singaraja who were taught by using experiential learning. keyword : Key words: experiential leaning, writing competence.
