Abstract

Developing an effective biocontrol consortium requires comprehensive assessment to ensure that the selected microbial combinations can provide both strong disease suppression and plant growth-promoting effects. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of four biocontrol consortia composed of indigenous microbes from Bantul Regency, Indonesia, in suppressing Fusarium basal rot (FBR) and promoting the growth of shallot (Allium cepa var. aggregatum) cv. Bauji. Three indigenous isolates were used: Trichoderma asperellum strain PBt1, Bacillus cereus strain PBt2, and B. cereus strain PBt3. Four consortia were formulated by combining two or three of these isolates, designated as Consortia A, B, C, and D. The biocontrol activity against Fusarium solani DRB-1 was evaluated for both single isolates and consortia. A greenhouse experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design with two inoculation timings (before planting and early vegetative stage) and five replicates. The performance of each consortium was assessed based on FBR severity and shallot growth parameters. Results showed that Consortia B (T. asperellum PBt1 + B. cereus PBt3) applied before planting achieved the highest FBR reduction (34.8%) at 42 days after planting (DAP). Moreover, this consortium significantly enhanced shallot yield, as reflected by increased bulb weight and number. These findings suggest that Consortia B has strong potential to improve both FBR management efficacy and shallot productivity.

This study differs from previous descriptive studies in that it delves deeper into the analysis of the impact of the Management Information System (MIS) on improving service quality and employee performance efficiency, as well as identifying key factors that influence the success and obstacles of implementation. A qualitative method was chosen as the approach in this study. Data was collected through direct observation, documentation, and interviews with sources, namely: (1) Head of General Affairs, (2) Staff of the General Affairs Division of the Kepanjen Service Unit, and (3) customers. The results of the study show that MIS significantly contributes positively to the management of company data and operational information. MIS has facilitated the digitization and consolidation of data, improved employee performance efficiency, and enabled a faster response to customer needs and complaints. However, these findings also encountered challenges in the form of technical problems (server down), differences in staff digital literacy levels, and hardware limitations. This study emphasizes the need for comprehensive strategies to overcome these obstacles, including infrastructure improvements, tailored training, and planned hardware procurement, to maximize the effectiveness of SIM and support continuous improvement in service, employee performance, and decision-making processes.

Abstract

Supplier selection is a strategic decision that significantly influences organizational performance, cost efficiency, and supply chain sustainability. The increasing complexity of supply chains requires decision makers to evaluate suppliers based on multiple, often conflicting criteria. This study aims to develop a decision support system (DSS) for supplier selection using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. A case study was conducted in a manufacturing company in Indonesia involving five alternative suppliers evaluated against six criteria, including cost, quality, delivery reliability, flexibility, service level, and environmental performance. Data were collected through expert judgment and company procurement records. The TOPSIS method was applied to normalize decision matrices, determine ideal solutions, and calculate preference values for each supplier. The results indicate that TOPSIS effectively ranks suppliers by considering both the closest distance to the ideal solution and the farthest distance from the negative ideal solution. The DSS developed in this study provides a transparent, systematic, and practical tool to support managerial decision-making in supplier selection. The findings confirm that TOPSIS-based DSS can improve objectivity, consistency, and efficiency in procurement decisions. This study contributes to the growing literature on multi-criteria decision-making in supply chain management and offers practical implications for organizations seeking to enhance supplier evaluation processes.

Abstract

Dietary patterns play a crucial role in determining the nutritional status of primary school children, particularly in developing countries undergoing rapid nutritional transitions. Indonesia continues to face a double burden of malnutrition, where undernutrition and overnutrition coexist among school-aged children. This study aims to examine the association between dietary patterns and the nutritional status of primary school children in Lowokwaru District, Malang City, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 210 students aged 9–12 years selected using stratified random sampling from public primary schools. Dietary patterns were assessed using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire, while nutritional status was determined based on BMI-for-age Z-scores following WHO standards. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests. The results showed a significant association between dietary patterns and nutritional status (p < 0.05). Children with balanced dietary patterns were more likely to have normal nutritional status, whereas unhealthy patterns characterized by high consumption of energy-dense, nutrient-poor foods were associated with overweight and obesity. These findings are consistent with previous studies conducted in various regions of Indonesia and other countries. In conclusion, dietary patterns significantly influence the nutritional status of primary school children. Nutrition education interventions targeting healthy eating habits are urgently needed to improve child health outcomes.

Abstract

Indonesia in the southern latitudes is one of the tectonically active regions that often experiences earthquakes due to plate subduction activity. This activity causes the accumulation of energy in the subduction zone that can be released at any time in the form of earthquakes with various levels of depth and strength. This study aims to visualize the relationship between depth and magnitude of earthquakes in the region using curve interpolation techniques. Earthquake data was obtained from the BMKG catalog over a period of time, covering a wide range of earthquake events with a fairly wide variation in magnitude and depth. Through this analysis, the general pattern of the relationship between the depth of the earthquake source and the resulting magnitude can be observed, which is then visualized to facilitate interpretation. The visualization results show that there are certain trends that indicate how changes in depth can affect earthquake strength, where earthquakes that occur at a certain depth do not show a tendency that results in greater or smaller magnitudes. This approach is expected to contribute to the understanding of the seismic characteristics of the region.
