Abstract

To analyze the transformation of Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren) in the digital era, assess the contribution of digital technology to Islamic boarding schools, and propose the ideal model for digital Islamic boarding schools. The study uses a systematic literature review method utilizing the "Publish or Perish" application. Keywords such as "Pesantren Digital “or” Pesantren Technology “or” Pesantren Virtual “or” Islamic Boarding School Digital “or” Islamic Boarding School Technology “or” and Islamic Boarding School Virtual” were searched in the global indexing database "Scopus," followed by PRISMA data analysis. The digital transformation model in Islamic boarding schools includes changes in management, administration, learning, and digital skill development for students. The contribution of digital technology is diverse, ranging from improving administration and management, increasing access to digital-based learning, strengthening interactions between Islamic boarding schools, alumni, and the community, developing student skills in utilizing digital tools, and facilitating the spread of Islamic preaching (rahmatan lil alamin). This study implies that integrating digital technologies into Islamic boarding schools offers significant opportunities to improve educational practices and administrative efficiency. This study provides a new perspective on the ideal model of digital Islamic boarding schools using Giddens' perspective of Giddens' four elements.

Second, the scope of multiculturalism and multireligion starts with maintaining brotherhood between religions, getting to know each other, and acculturating culture and Islam, which is rahmatan lil alamin. Abstract

The phenomenon of radicalism in Indonesia is a black mark for country that must be eradicated from its roots. However, several recent findings show that the birth of radicalism began in universities with an Islamic background, a very contradictory fact in religious obligations as a solution for the community, which is one of the indicators contributing to radicalism in Indonesia. From that point, this study has three research questions including: first, what are the forms of radicalism that occur in the environment of Islamic universities in Indonesia? second, what are the factors contribute to the spread of radicalism in Islamic universities in Indonesia? third, what strategies are implemented by Islamic universities to overcome radicalism? The objectives of this study are to analyze the manifestations and driving factors of radicalism within Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia, and to explore the preventive measures implemented by these institutions.  The method used was a systematic literature review with publication data in 2020-2025, while the data analysis used was PRISMA analysis. The study results showed the forms of radicalism in Islamic universities, including exclusive ideological groups, anti-nationalism, and digital spread. Against the background of several factors, such as socio-economic, campus environment and culture, external influences, and openness of digital information, universities have provided several strategies to overcome radicalism. This study also extended the theoretical implications of Berger and Luckmann's ‘The Social Construction of Reality by incorporating social empowerment as a pivotal closure mechanism’.
