Abstract

Learning physics mathematics is one of the subjects in the physics education study program at the University of Jambi. Based on the results of the questionnaire, students' needs regarding learning mathematics and physics are considered difficult to understand the material taught by lecturers. This is due to the less varied teaching materials and the books used are only sourced from the book Mathematical Methods in Physics written by Mary L. Boas with a thickness of 839 pages consisting of 15 chapters with the language used in English. This is why this research was conducted with the aim of being able to help students with problems when learning mathematics and physics, especially in the material of coordinate transformation using e-modules created using Flip PDF Professional software. The method used is a mixed method with an explanatory design where quantitative data in the form of questionnaire results are strengthened by qualitative data in the form of interviews. Based on the research results, the existence of e-modules can be an alternative in learning that can be used by lecturers and students who are used for independent study with a flexible design that can be used.

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify the science process skills of the physics education students of Jambi University in prism refraction practicum after using the basic physics practicum guidebook II. This research is a quantitative descriptive method. The study was conducted with a sample of 91 students. Data collection techniques were carried out using a science process skill observation sheet which was supported by interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that most students are highly skilled in implementing science process skills-based practicum with the following percentages: observing by 48.35%, classifying by 38.46%, measuring by 39.56%, predicting by 58.64%, compiling data tables by 51.65%, making graph by 58.24%, planning the experiment by 61.54%, and conducting the experiment by 45.05%. The students were also quite skilled in constructing hypotheses and defining variables with the percentage of 57.14% and 39.56%, respectively. The results of the study are expected to be used as a consideration for study programs and other faculties at Jambi University as well as other universities to conduct related studies.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze HOTS-based science learning in terms of students' critical thinking skills. This research was conducted at SMPN 22 Jambi City using a mixed research method with explanatory design analysis. Two instruments were made in this research: the description test questions as an instrument for quantitative approach and interviews for qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 58 of 13-14 years old students selected using quota sampling. The tested topic was the lens refraction which consisted of 10 questions. Five indicators were tested; namely, the ability to provide basic explanation, basic support, interference, advanced clarification, and strategy and tactics. After analyzing students' answers, the average score for providing basic explanation was 3.31, building basic supports was 3.59, inferencing was 3.26, providing advanced explanation was 3.88, and utilizing strategies and tactics was 3.41. Students’ HOTS was high with the average scores in the 40-60 interval. Therefore, students’ critical thinking skills were sufficient, which affected students’ HOTS in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship and difference between science process skills and students' critical thinking skills based on gender. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research. The instruments used observation sheets and essay test questions. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with samples of 90 students. The data analysis technique used by the researcher was descriptive statistics of Pearson Correlation and ANOVA tests. The results obtained were that the science process skills of students at SMPN 2 Batanghari were classified as good and dominated by female students with a percentage of 80.4%. Critical thinking skills were dominated by female students with a percentage of 32.6% (very critical). Then, there was a significant relationship between science process skills and students' critical thinking skills. Then, in the ANOVA test, male and female students' p-values of science process skills and critical thinking skills were less than 0.05. Therefore, there was a difference between the scientific process and the critical thinking skills of female and male students. This research is expected to contribute to schools and further research to improve learning methods that support critical thinking and science process skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine how the influence of digital literacy and critical thinking skills. This research was conducted using a mixed method with the convergent parallel design. The subjects of this study were students from SMAN 6 Batanghari and SMAN 10 Batanghari with a specialization in science, where each school took 2 classes with a total of 80 students as samples with 297 eleventh graders in both schools as population, where research sample chosen with purposive sampling. The data analysis carried out in this study was a normality test, linearity test, and regression test. From this research, it was found that there were significant differences in the level of digital literacy skills and understanding of students on digital literacy between the two test schools. Significant differences are also seen in the level of critical thinking of students. The interesting thing in the findings of this research is that students who have a good level of skills and understanding of digital literacy will have a good level of critical thinking as well. So, it was found that digital literacy also has an influence on students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the comparison and influence of students' science process skills on students' digital literacy in measurement material. This research uses a quantitative type of research with an explanatory approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 60 students. Data collection techniques in this research included observation sheets and questionnaires. The data analysis technique in this research uses descriptive statistical methods and inferential statistics. Based on the independent sample t-test results for science process skills and digital literacy of Al-Falah High School students in Jambi City, a Sig. (2-tailed) value less than 0.05 was obtained.. Thus, it can be concluded that there are differences in science process skills and critical thinking skills between students in classes X A and X B. According to the results of a simple linear regression test to see the effect of science process skills on students' digital literacy at Al-Falah High School in Jambi City, it can be concluded that for class X A, science process skills affect students' digital literacy, with an R Square value of 0.46, meaning that 46% of science process skills influence students' digital literacy. For class X B, science process skills also affect students' digital literacy, with an R Square value of 0.42, meaning that 42% of science process skills influence students' digital literacy. Based on hypothesis testing, it is known that there are differences in science process skills and digital literacy between students in classes X A and X B. In addition, students' science process skills influence digital literacy in measurement material.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of being able to describe students' perceptions of the mathematics physics electronics module and to know the differences in students' perceptions between Regular A and B classes in the mathematics physics electronics module. This research was conducted using a mix method approach. The total sample is 60 students from two classes. The significant difference between the two classes and the correlation results show that the perception of regular classes A and B has a relationship so that this will affect the usefulness of the physics-mathematical e-module later. And currently students are feeling confused in understanding mathematics physics lessons. Students need teaching materials that are very interesting and of course easy to understand starting from the language, explanations and material. Because the better the positive perception that students give, the students feel that they really need an electronic module to be used in the mathematics physics learning.
