Abstract

Marine endophytic fungi harbor inherent bioactive chemicals that exhibit antimicrobial, antitumor, antiviral, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of this study was to assess the capability of bioactive chemicals found in endophytic marine fungi to prevent the growth of the harmful bacterium Vibrio harveyi. This research was carried out using a series of procedures, including isolation, selection, antagonistic testing, extraction of active compounds, and antibacterial testing. The process of isolating and selecting endophytic marine fungi was conducted on seaweed and mangrove samples obtained from Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi. This was performed using Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). 35 isolates were subjected to antagonistic testing against the pathogenic bacterium V. harveyi, which led to the formation of clear zones with sizes ranging from 2 mm to 21 mm. Extraction was conducted using a maceration technique with ethyl acetate as the solvent. The resulting extract was then concentrated using a rotary evaporator. The extract derived from the marine fungus Aspergillus terreus (WB 1-2) showed the largest inhibitory zone, measuring 21.8±0.3 mm, when tested at a dosage of 2 mg/mL. The diameter of the inhibitory zone of the A. terreus extract was greater than that of the positive control, chloramphenicol (19 mm). These findings suggest that the marine endophytic fungus A. terreus can be used as a natural antibacterial agent to inhibit the growth of infections in aquaculture.

Abstract

Kondisi oseanografi dan pemilihan lokasi adalah faktor penting dalam keberhasilan dan keberlanjutan kegiatan budidaya lobster laut menggunakan sistem keramba jaring apung. Salah satu kendala budidaya lobster adalah belum adanya aturan khusus mengenai kriteria kesesuaian lokasi budidaya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan kriteria dan lokasi yang sesuai untuk budidaya lobster di sekitar perairan Teluk Pidada. Dasar kriteria yang digunakan adalah kesesuaian kondisi oseanografi dan kualitas air laut terhadap konstruksi keramba jaring apung dan habitat alamiah lobster. Metode analisis spasial menggunakan sistem informasi geografi dengan sistem pembobotan digunakan dalam penentuan lokasi yang sesuai untuk budidaya, yang mencakup kecerahan, kekeruhan, TSS, klorofil-a, DO, nitrat, fosfat, amonia, pH, TOM, dan salinitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 9 dari 15 parameter memiliki kondisi yang sangat sesuai. Hasil studi analisis kesesuaian wilayah memperlihatkan bahwa 78,8% perairan atau seluas 2.890,8 ha dalam kategori sangat sesuai, kemudian hanya 21,2% perairan atau seluas 755,2 ha yang tergolong sesuai, dan tidak ditemukan kategori tidak sesuai di perairan Teluk Pidada. Hampir sebagian besar wilayah teluk sesuai untuk budidaya lobster, namun sebagian titik berlokasi agak menjauh dari daratan karena tingginya nutrien dan run-off kurang sesuai untuk kegiatan budidaya.

Abstract

PT. Dewi Laut Aquaculture (DLA) adalah salah satu perusahaan yang menjalankan produksi udang vaname menggunakan teknologi terbarukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sistem produksi budidaya udang vaname di PT. DLA pada aspek ekologi, biologi, ekonomi dan sosiologi. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan observasi kegiatan produksi dan wawancara pada karyawan perusahaan. Analisis data dikerjakan secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan referensi sebagai pembanding. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan budidaya udang vaname di PT. Dewi Laut Aquaculture telah dilaksanakan sesuai SNI 8008-2014 terutama pada persiapan wadah, pengelolaan air, lama pemeliharaan dan kondisi kualitas air. Secara ekologi, pengolahan kualitas air perlu diefektifkan dengan redesain IPAL, monitoring kualitas air berbasis website dan penambahan lahan hijau. Pada aspek biologi perlu optimasi padat tebar dan penerapan prinsip teknis sesuai BAP-GAA. Pada aspek ekonomi perlu menjaga kestabilan produktivitas > 6 siklus. Pada aspek sosiologi perlu optimasi waktu dan upah kerja, serta meningkatkan pelatihan karyawan dan membentuk sistem evaluasi kinerja.

Abstract

Seaweed is a fishery product that is widely used in various industries, including food, cosmetics, feed and others. Seaweed production does not always increase according to the target but there are several declines, such as in Pekalongan Regency in 2018, there was a quite drastic decline compared to the previous year. The aim of this research is to analyze the factors that are thought to have caused a decline in seaweed production in Central Java Province, especially in Pekalongan Regency. The research method used in the research is secondary data obtained from the Pekalongan Regency Central Statistics Agency. The results of the analysis that have been carried out show that there are several factors that have caused the decline, including tidal waves that occurred in 2017-2018, a decrease in the number of ponds owned by the community, and an erosion rate that is estimated to occur at 0.5 m per year. Decline in seaweed production in Pekalongan Regency is caused by several factors including abrasion, tidal waves, and a decrease in the number of ponds owned by the community in the Pekalongan Regency.

Abstract

Microplastic (MP) pollution presents a significant challenge to the sustainability of aquaculture. MPs, originating from various sources such as domestic plastic waste and the degradation of aquaculture equipment, have been detected in aquaculture media, including water and sediment. Cultured organisms like fish, shrimp, and seaweed exhibit MP accumulation, impacting their health and posing risks to human consumers. This study reviews the distribution, ecological impacts, and potential mitigation strategies for MPs in aquaculture environments. Findings reveal that MPs cause bioaccumulation and trophic transfer, leading to physiological disturbances in organisms. Moreover, MPs act as carriers for other harmful pollutants. Mitigation technologies, such as water filtration systems and biodegradable materials, are under development but require further evaluation. Biological approaches utilizing microorganisms for MP degradation offer sustainable solutions. This study recommends integrated management through technological innovation, policy development, and community-based approaches to mitigate MP impacts in aquaculture. Abstract

Quality of human resources is a key factor in the success of cultivation. Farmers who have good technical knowledge and skills tend to be more successful in managing their ponds. Therefore, through training and mentoring programs, it is hoped that the knowledge and skills needed to increase shrimp pond productivity can be provided. The purpose of this activity is to improve farmers' understanding of effective and efficient white shrimp cultivation techniques, identify problems, and create networks between farmers to share experiences and information. The training was held in July 2024 in Karangsewu Village, Galur District, Kulon Progo Regency, D.I.Yogyakarta Province. The training attended by 35 participants consisting of white shrimp farmers, fisheries extension workers, and the surrounding community. After completing the training, participants received support in the form of mentoring for shrimp cultivation activities for three months. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to measure the increase in participants' knowledge. The results showed that the level of knowledge of participants increased by 6.64%. As many as 79% of participants strongly agreed that the training could improve their knowledge, 71% strongly agreed that the training they attended was relevant to their jobs, and 86% of participants stated that they could develop their potential after attending the program. The results of post-training monitoring showed that productivity of white shrimp pond increased from an average of 12 tons/ha to 23.16 tons/ha. This program not only increases productivity and business sustainability, but also has a positive impact on the economy of the surrounding community. There needs to be a follow-up program to improve shrimp farmers' understanding of financial management, marketing strategies, and the development of value-added products.

Abstract

Najawa carp is one of the carp developed at BPTPB Cangkringan and has economic value. Market demand for Javanese carp is at the larval stage. This is the reason why fish spawning activities are routinely carried out to obtain larvae that are ready to be sold. Business analysis needs to be done to evaluate the feasibility of the najawa carp seeding business. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of the najawa carp seeding business with a natural spawning system. The data taken were primary data, namely direct observation and secondary data obtained from interviews. Data analysis included investment costs, fixed costs, variable costs, total costs, R/C ratio, break event point, payback period, and cost of production. The results of the analysis showed a payback period value of 2.08, an R/C ratio value of 1.22, a BEP unit of 2,053,120.61, and a BEP price of 151,564,296.4. The najawa carp seeding business with a natural spawning system is feasible to be developed.

Abstract

Farming mud crabs (Scylla serrata) in Indonesia generally use seeds from natural habitats, which are caught, held, and transported dry to the farming location. The crabs are held for several days while waiting for consumers. This study analyzed the impact of pre-transport holding times (one, three, and five days) with four replications and an average initial weight of 73.60 ± 12.53 g on the physiological condition and production performance of farming mud crabs in an apartment system. The crabs were transported dry from Muara Gembong, Bekasi Regency, West Java, to the IPB Fisheries and Marine Observation Station (IFMOS) Ancol, North Jakarta, DKI Jakarta, for three hours. The crabs were farming in apartment boxes with a recirculation system for 14 days. The results showed that the crabs experienced severe gill damage indicated by the lysis of gill cuticles and low survival rates, especially after five days of pre-transport holding. The crabs experienced stress in all treatments, as indicated by high glucose levels above 30 mg/dL. The best survival rate was found in the one-day pre-transport holding time, with a value of 87.50% at the holding location and 95% at the farming location. In conclusion, a one-day pre-transport holding time provides better physiological conditions and production performance for mud crab farming in an apartment system. Keywords: crab, gills, natural catch, stress ABSTRAK Budidaya kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) di Indonesia umumnya menggunakan benih dari alam, yang ditangkap, ditampung, dan kemudian di transportasi kering ke lokasi budidaya. Penampungan kepiting berlangsung beberapa hari sambil menunggu konsumen. Penelitian ini menganalisis dampak lama waktu penampungan pratransportasi (satu, tiga, dan lima hari) dengan empat ulangan dan bobot rata-rata awal 73,60 ± 12,53 g, terhadap kondisi fisiologi dan kinerja produksi kepiting bakau yang dibudidayakan dalam sistem apartemen. Kepiting di transportasi kering dari Muara Gembong, Kabupaten Bekasi, Jawa Barat, ke IPB fisheries and marine observation station (IFMOS) Ancol, Jakarta Utara, DKI Jakarta, selama tiga jam. Kepiting dibudidayakan pada boks apartemen dengan sistem resirkulasi selama 14 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepiting mengalami kerusakan insang yang parah ditunjukkan dengan lisisnya kutikula insang dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup rendah, terutama setelah lima hari lama penampungan. Kepiting mengalami stres dalam semua perlakuan, yang ditunjukkan oleh tingginya kadar glukosa di atas 30 mg/dL. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup terbaik yakni pada lama waktu penampungan satu hari, dengan nilai 87,50% di lokasi penampungan dan 95% di lokasi budidaya. Kesimpulannya, lama waktu penampungan satu hari pratransportasi memberikan kondisi fisiologi dan kinerja produksi budidaya kepiting bakau sistem apartemen yang lebih baik. Abstract

Pengembangan usaha kepiting bakau di Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung memiliki potensi besar untuk meningkatkan perekonomian daerah dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Provinsi ini memiliki luas hutan mangrove yang cukup besar, memberikan habitat alami bagi kepiting bakau. Dari aspek pasar, permintaan pasar untuk kepiting bakau terus meningkat, baik di pasar domestik maupun internasional. Terdapat juga potensi pengembangan wisata ekowisata mangrove yang dapat dikombinasikan dengan usaha kepiting bakau. Namun terdapat permasalahan adanya kerusakan ekosistem mangrove akibat aktivitas manusia seperti penebangan liar dan konversi lahan. Selain itu, kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat lokal dalam budidaya kepiting bakau yang berkelanjutan serta adanya keterbatasan akses terhadap modal dan teknologi modern. Diperlukan strategi yang tepat dari hulu hingga hilir melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat, rekomendasi kebijakan yang dapat diusulkan di antaranya peningkatan teknologi usaha, peningkatan kapasitas kelembagaan masyarakat, peningkatan sarana prasarana, peningkatan nilai tambah produk, dan peningkatan akses pasar serta skema pendanaan. Usaha ini dapat menjadi model bisnis yang berkelanjutan dan ramah lingkungan. Implementasi yang konsisten dan evaluasi yang berkelanjutan adalah kunci keberhasilan dari strategi ini.

Abstract

ABSTRACTAnexperiment to asses breeding performance of sand goby was conducted in earthen and concrete pond.  Broodstock (125 - 500 g per fish) of similar levels at maturing were fed trash fish 7% of biomass everyday.  In the rainy season, sand goby, Oxyeleotris marmorata (Blkr.), spawned 31 and 30 times per month producing an average of 38.300 and 36.855 eggs per nest, respectively.  In the dry sesason, howeve only fish in earthen ond bred 36 times per month with an average of 39.170 eggs per nest.Key words :  breeding, sand goby fish, Oxyeleotris marmorata ABSTRAKPercobaan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemijahan ikan betutu di kolain tanah dan kolarn beton.  Ikan betutu (125 - 500 g per ekor) dipelihara selarna musim hujan dan musim kemarau dan diberi makan ikan teri sebanyak 7% setiap hari.  Pada musim penghujan, pada kolam tanah dan kolam beton terjadi masingmasing 31 dan 30 kali pemijahan ikan betutu, Oxyeleotris marmorata (Blkr.), per sarang.  Pada musim kemarau, hanya ikan betutu yang di kolam tanah saja yang memijah sebanyak 36 kali dengan rata-rata 39.170 butir per tahun per sarang.Kata kunci :  pemijahan, ikan betutu, Oxyeleotris marmorata
