Abstract

This study aimed to identify the fish health status, based on the total erythrocytes (cells/mm3), total leukocytes (cells/mm3), hemoglobin level (g %), hematocrit, and histopathological profiles. This study was performed on February, 2021 – January, 2022. The study was located in floating-net cage of Kelapa Dua Island, Seribu Islands, Jakarta, Indonesia. Sampling was performed by a purposive-sampling method, environmental parameter measurements, containing temperature and salinity, clinical symptom observation in fish, total erythrocytes, leukocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, histopathological profiles of hybrid grouper liver and kidney, and existence of VNN virus. The observation results present the behavior changes in sick fish, namely whirling on the net cage surface, dead-sleeping or death-like condition below the net cage. Hybrid grouper has total erythrocytes of 1.36 x 106 – 5.13 x 106 cells/mm3, total leukocytes of 2.9 x 104 – 7.9 x 104 cells/mm3, hemoglobin level of 5.56 - 10.94 g %, and hematocrit of 13.31 - 24.78 %. From the histopathological observation, hepatocyte, necrosis, vacuolysis was occurred in liver and tubular, leukocyte infiltasi, nicrosis was occurred in kidney and with the highest prevalence of VNN at 20 – 80 %. Therefore, hybrid grouper is sick due to increased number of leukocytes at 5.13 x 106 cells/mm3 above the normal range, followed by decreased hemoglobin and hematocrit levels at 5.56 - 10.94 g % and 13.31 - 24.78 %, respectively, due to organ damage. Keyword: must be written in not more than 5 words and alphabeticaly listed ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui status kesehatan ikan meliputi total eritrosit (sel/mm3), total leukosit (sel/mm3), kadar hemoglobin (gram %) dan hematokrit (%) dan gambaran histopatolgi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada periode bulan Februari 2021 hingga Januari 2022. Lokasi penelitian pada keramba jaring apung (KJA) di Pulau Kelapa Dua Kepulauan Seribu. Metode pengambilan sampel ikan dilakukan secara purposive sampling, pengukuran parameter lingkungan perairan yaitu suhu dan salinitas, pengamatan gajala klinis ikan, perhitungan jumlah eritrosit, leukosit, kadar hemoglobin dan hematokrit serta gambaran histopatologi pada organ hati dan ginjal ikan kerapu cantang dan keberadaan virus VNN. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan perubahan tingkah laku ikan sakit yaitu berputar ke atas permukaan KJA, terjadi sleeping dead atau ikan berada di dasar seperti mati. Ikan kerapu cantang memiliki jumlah eritrosit 1.36 x 106 – 5.13 x 106 sel/mm3, leukosit 2.9 x 104 – 7.9 x 104 sel/mm3, hemoglobin 5.56 - 10.94 gr %, dan hematokrit 13.31 - 24.78 %, hasil histopalogi ikan mengalami perubahan sel pada hati yaitu hepatosit, vakuolisasi, nekrosis dan ginjal mengalami perubahan infiltrasi leukosit, nicrosis, tubulus dan kehadiran virus VNN tertinggi berkisar 20 % - 80 %. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ikan kerapu cantang yang sakit karena jumlah leukosit meningkat 5.13 x 106 sel/mm3 melebihi kisaran normal, kadar hemoglobin menurun 5.56 - 10.94 % dan kadar hematokrit 13.31 - 24.78 % rendah dan terjadi kerusakan jaringan pada organ dalam ikan. Abstract

Spiny lobster is a member of crustaceans that has high economic value. The demand for export markets in Asian, European and American countries as well as locally, is quite high with an expensive selling price. However, there are obstacles that often occur in spiny lobster rearing cultivation, namely infectious diseases that will cause high mortality. The purpose of this study was to investigate infectious diseases in rearing spiny lobster Panulirus spp. that were kept in floating net cages at Tanjung Putus, Lampung. The research method involved sampling five spiny lobsters in floating net cages, observation of clinical symptoms, bacterial isolation, identification of bacteria, detection of Milky Hemolymph Disease of Spiny Lobster (MHD-SL) through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis and histopathology. The sampling location was at PT. Saibatin Perikanan Indonesia. The bacteria Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Vibrio alginolyticus were detected. Five lobsters were infected by MHD-SL, characterized by milky white hemolymph. All five lobster samples were positively infected with Milky Hemolymph Disease of Spiny Lobster (MHD-SL) through PCR analysis. Histopathological observations showed pathological microanatomical changes in the lobster hepatopancreas tissue, indicating that the tissue changes, in the form of encapsulation and infiltration were due to Rickettsia-like bacteria (RLB) infection. The management of spiny lobster stocking density, maintenance biosecurity, and increased lobster immunity must be implemented in order to prevent MHD-SL disease in floating net cages. Keywords: bacteria, histopathology, MHD-SL, Panulirus spp. ABSTRAK Lobster merupakan anggota crustacea yang memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi. Permintaan pasar ekspor pada negara Asia, Eropa, dan Amerika maupun lokal cukup tinggi dengan nilai jual yang mahal. Akan tetapi, terdapat kendala yang sering terjadi pada budidaya pembesaran lobster yaitu infeksi penyakit yang akan menyebabkan tingginya mortalitas Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menginvestigasi penyakit infeksi pada pembesaran lobster Panulirus spp. yang dipelihara di keramba jaring apung Tanjung Putus, Lampung. Metode penelitian ini meliputi pengambilan sampel lobster sebanyak lima ekor dalam karamba jarring apung (KJA), pengamatan gejala klinis, isolasi bakteri, identifikasi bakteri, deteksi Milky Hemolymph Disease of Spiny Lobster (MHD-SL) melalui analisis Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), dan histopatologi. Lokasi pengambilan sampel di PT. Saibatin Perikanan Indonesia, Lampung. Terdapat bakteri Vibrio parahaemolyticus dan V. alginolyticus. Lima ekor lobster terinfeksi oleh MHD-SL yang ditandai dengan hemolim berwarna putih susu. Lima sampel lobster positif terinfeksi penyakit Milky Hemolymph Disease of Spiny Lobster (MHD-SL) melalui analisis PCR. Hasil pengamatan histopatologi terdapat perubahan mikroanatomi patologi pada jaringan hepatopankreas lobster menunjukkan bahwa adanya perubahan jaringan berupa enkapsulasi dan infiltrasi karena adanya infeksi Rickettsia-like bacteria (RLB). Pengelolaan kepadatan penebaran lobster, biosekuritas pemeliharaan, dan peningkatan imunitas lobster harus ditingkatkan untuk mencegah penyakit MHD-SL di KJA. Abstract

Increasing seaweed production requires accurate information regarding the genetic sources of seeds used. Identifying the seaweed species Kappaphycus molecular is one of the solutions to ensure seaweed cultivators choose seeds for their cultivation businesses. Molecular identification is essential for the system traceability of seaweed products and the creation of databases regarding species variant information Kappaphycus alvarezii cultivation as potential data collection for developing and genetically breeding seaweed seeds. To date, there is no information on the genetic potential of K. alvarezii cultivated in various seaweed cultivation centers in Indonesia. This study aimed to obtain phylogenetic details based on identification of the genetic source using DNA molecular markers barcoding rbcL and analysis of carrageenan content using the Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) spectrum. The results of DNA sequencing analysis and FTIR testing of 16 varieties of seaweed seedlings obtained from various cultivation centers in Indonesia showed 99% similarity with K. alvarezii, a producer of kappa carrageenan. Keywords: DNA sequencing, phylogenetics, haplotypes, kappa-carrageenan, rbcL ABSTRAK Peningkatan produksi rumput laut memerlukan informasi yang akurat mengenai kepastian sumber genetik bibit yang digunakan. Identifikasi spesies rumput laut Kappaphycus secara molekuler merupakan salah satu solusi untuk memberikan kepastian pada pembudidaya rumput laut untuk memilih bibit bagi usaha budidaya. Identifikasi molekuler sangat penting dalam sistem traceability produk rumput laut dan pembuatan basis data mengenai informasi varian spesies Kappaphycus alvarezii budidaya sebagai pendataan potensi untuk pengembangan dan pemuliaan bibit rumput laut secara genetis. Sampai saat ini belum tersedia informasi mengenai potensi genetik rumput laut K. alvarezii yang dibudidayakan di berbagai sentra budidaya rumput laut di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi filogenetik berdasarkan identifikasi sumber genetiknya menggunakan penanda molekuler DNA barcoding rbcL serta analisis kandungan karaginannya menggunakan spektrum Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR). Dari hasil analisis sekuensing DNA dan pengujian FTIR terhadap 16 varietas bibit rumput laut yang diperoleh di berbagai sentra budidaya di Indonesia menghasilkan 99% kemiripan yang tinggi dengan K. alvarezii penghasil kappa karagenan. Abstract

Lampung Bay is an important water crossing in South Sumatra that is greatly influence by anthropogenic activities and oceanographic characteristics. This study characterized and estimated the spatial and temporal Primary Productivity (PP) in the three sections of the bay: head, middle, and mouth. The PP was modeled by using Sea Surface Temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a, Primary Productivity, and Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) collected from remote sensing data and field measurements. Primary productivity was modeled with a Vertically Generalized Production Model (VGPM), and data validation was done using the Root Mean Square Error method. The distribution of PAR in Lampung Bay ranged from 35–52.50 E/m2/day. The distribution of SST ranged from 28.5–31.50°C. The highest distribution of chlorophyll-a was at the hHead of the bay with a range of 0.30-12 mg/m3. Correlation analysis shows that chlorophyll-a had the highest influence on PP (R2=0.99). While the middle and outer areas of the bay have a low average with values of 122.65 and 101.84 gC/m2/year. Our models show that there is high primary production at the Head of the bay, reaching eutrophic and mesotrophic levels. The middle and outer areas of the bay show productivity levels corresponding to mesotrophic and oligotrophic levels.

Abstract

Mutiara catfish is one of the leading commodities in the freshwater fish farming sector in Indonesia. Catfish has the advantage of good meat quality, a fast growth rate, and can live at high density. The continuous availability of seeds is one of the key factors in meeting the demand for catfish seeds in West Kalimantan. This study aims to evaluate the catfish seed production system at Farm 169, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan. The seeding process includes pond preparation, parent selection, spawning, egg hatching, larval maintenance and harvesting, feeding, and water quality management. The results of the fecundity calculation of pearl catfish obtained the number of eggs as many as 142.200, fertilization rate of 85.08%, hatching rate of 83.12%, and larval survival rate of 92.62%.

Abstract

The market demand for catfish for consumption is increasing, so it is necessary to increase its cultivation productivity. For this reason, an increase in the production of ready-to-stock seeds in the rearing ponds is carried out which can be achieved through improving the management of seeds, water, and feed. With the increase in production in Sukamandijaya Village, there are opportunities for expansion to a wider market, both nationally and for export. This can make Kampung Patin one of the leading centers in the freshwater fisheries industry in West Java. The purpose of this community service activities is to prepare human resources who are responsive to innovation progress and resilient in increasing the productivity of catfish cultivation, especially in the nursery segment. The activity was carried out from August to October 2024 with four stages, namely socialization and surveys, catfish nursery training, demonstrations and mentoring, and activity evaluation. The target of the activity was 30 members of the Fish Cultivation Group (Pokdakan) in Sukamandijaya Village, Ciasem, Subang, West Java. The catfish nursery revitalization activity has had a positive impact on farmers, especially in increasing knowledge and skills. Skills improvement includes the use of water quality measuring equipment, data recording and analysis, knowledge of water probiotics to improve water quality and feed probiotics to improve feed efficiency, and awareness of the importance of food safety through the introduction of herbal medicines for controlling fish diseases. Time constraints in training are a challenge in themselves, so they are carried out through monitoring activities and discussions via the internet so that farmers still get the guidance needed to apply the techniques that have been learned optimally.

Abstract

The production of fisheries cultivation in Selayar Islands Regency has obstacles, including lack of technology, disease attacks, and not yet mastered marketing strategies and sales of production results. This is the background for implementing the integration of human resource development (HRD) and integrated appropriate marine aquatic organism cultivation technology in Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi. This activity aims to increase human resources' capacity in aquatic organism cultivation through training and mentoring activities. The community service program consists of maritime development training through fish cultivation, hybrid public lectures on potential and challenges in mariculture, discussions on program sustainability/exploration of cooperation with the Fisheries Service and Regional Secretary, and visits and consultations on community ponds. Maritime development training through fish cultivation uses materials on container preparation, cultivation systems, feed and feeding, water quality management, and fish and shrimp health management. Public lectures on potential and challenges in mariculture are carried out using materials on fish cultivation in KJA, lobster cultivation, and marketing of mariculture products. The partner stakeholders include IPB, the Fisheries Service of Selayar Islands Regency, UNHAS (TP3 Selayar Study Program), fisheries extension workers (KKP), and fish farming groups.

Abstract

Keberadaan fitoplankton diduga berdampak besar terhadap keberhasilan budidaya lobster terutama di fase pertumbuhan benih bening (puerulus) menjadi juvenil. Lobster pasir (Panulirus homarus) merupakan salah satu spesies spiny lobster yang paling banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia khususnya di Teluk Ekas, Lombok.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendata jenis, kelimpahan, indeks keanekaragaman (H’), dan  spesies fitoplankton yang potensial sebagai harmful algal blooms (HABs), pada kedalaman penempatan wadah pemeliharaan puerulus lobster di Teluk Ekas pada fase bulan yang berbeda. Sampel fitoplankton diperoleh dari tiga kedalaman penempatan puerulus (0,5 m, 1 m, 1,5 m), ketika fase bulan gelap dan terang pada bulan Juni-Juli 2021. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tercatat total 53 jenis fitoplankton yang terbagi ke dalam lima kelas yakni Bacillariophyceae (13), Coscinodiscophyceae (10),  Cyanophyceae (1), Dinophyceae (9), dan Mediophyceae (20). Tujuh genus fitoplankton tergolong dalam harmful species (Chaetoceros sp., Dinophysis sp., Nitzschia sp., Skeletonema sp. Trichodesmium sp., Tripos sp. dan Protoperidinium sp.). Fase bulan gelap memiliki kelimpahan fitoplankton yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan bulan terang pada tiap kedalaman laut pengambilan sampel. Fitoplankton paling berlimpah pada lapisan permukaan air laut dan menurun seiring penambahan kedalaman dengan H’ yang bervariasi dan fluktuatif. Analisis kesamaan memperlihatkan bahwa kedalaman 1 m memiliki persen kesamaan yang tinggi dengan kedalaman 1,5 m.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi sistem produksi Induk dan calon induk bermutu yang dilakukan oleh Pemerintah Pusat dalam hal ini Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan. Sistem Produksi Ikan di Indonesia meliputi produksi calon induk dan induk bermutu. Selain itu, juga dikelompokkan ke dalam habitatnya, yaitu kelompok ikan air tawar, kelompok ikan air laut, dan kelompok ikan air payau. Instansi pemerintah yang bertugas untuk menyediakan ikan bermutu, baik Induk maupun benih adalah unit-unit pelaksana teknis yang ada dibawah Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan. Salah satu unit pelaksana teknis air tawar yang ada di wilayah Sumatera adalah Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Tawar (BPBAT) Sungai Gelam. Balai ini mempunyai kewajiban untuk memenuhi kebutuhan calon induk dan induk bagi pembudidaya, unit pembenihan rakyat (UPR) dan pemerintah daerah atau stakeholder terkait melalui penyaluran bantuan induk dan calon induk. Evaluasi proses pelaksanaan program menunjukkan sebagian besar pelaksanaan program sudah sesuai dengan perencanaan, dimana Balai telah bisa menghasilkan varietas induk unggul baru untuk ikan Patin (Pangasianodon hypopthalmus) yang diberi nama Induk Ikan Patin Pustina. Kelebihan induk Pustina ini memiliki pertumbuhan yang cepat, ketahanan terhadap penyakit (Edwardsiella ictaluri dan Aeromonas hydrophyla), efisiensi dalam pakan, ketahanan terhadap kondisi lingkungan yang buruk (karena amonia) dan bisa dibudidayakan di lahan gambut dengan pH yang rendah.

Abstract

Tantangan utama dalam pemeliharaan lobster pasir (Panulirus homarus) adalah rendahnya laju pertumbuhan dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup, yang secara langsung menghambat optimalisasi kinerja produksi. Benih lobster dapat dipelihara di karamba jaring tenggelam untuk meningkatkan kinerja produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kedalaman terhadap kinerja produksi pendederan lobster pasir di karamba jaring tenggelam. Penelitian dilakukan di Sea Farming Center, Pusat Kajian Sumberdaya Pesisir dan Kelautan (PKSPL) IPB, di perairan Karang Lebar, Pulau Semak Daun, Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan tiga kali ulangan dan perlakuan penempatan karamba pada kedalaman 4 dan 6 m. Benih lobster pasir alami dengan berat 1,0 ± 0,04 g dibudidayakan dengan kepadatan 50 ekor per karamba. Sebanyak 10% biomassa diberikan kepada lobster dua kali sehari berupa 70% kerang hijau dan 30% ikan rucah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hasil kinerja produksi berupa tingkat kelangsungan hidup, laju pertumbuhan mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, rasio konversi pakan, dan produktivitas pendederan lobster yang lebih baik pada kedalaman 6 m.
