Abstract

This article examines the relationship between Boris Pasternak’s life and his artistic expression through his later poems. Following Wellek & Warren’s (1954) qualitative biographical analysis of Pasternak, which is basically associated with the qualitative method, we examined his personal narrative that contributed to the formation of his poetic voice. Data were taken from Pasternak’s later poems, namely “When It Clears Up” (1956-1959)–to Pasternak’s life stories, mainly taken from Pasternak’s biography by Hingley (2021) and the compilations of his letters to his family and friends (Slater, 2010). This study revealed that the events in his life greatly influenced his creation because they became the key motif of his narrative. The death of his brother and sister was influential in his studies of mortality and death, including grief. Peredelkino was a small village, and his longer period of stay helped him to have a chance to escape in nature and to experience loneliness to the greatest extent. In addition, his poetic work carries the features left by his teachers Alexander Skryabin and Hermann Cohen. To make up for the criticism of Belyi, whom he met in the summer of 1911, Skryabin offered Pasternak the aesthetic ideals of the latter work, developing the principles of poetry. Thus, in addition to recommending for Pasternak’s literary reading material other authors’ opinions on various philosophical issues, Cohen’s philosophic teaching enriched Pasternak’s outlook on the world and launched the latter on his poetic path. Understanding the specifics of Pasternak’s late poems provides knowledge of his life shots and the interconnectedness between his experiences and creation. The novelty of this study is reflected in the integration of a biographical analysis with a poetic interpretation. Such an approach uniquely combines the qualitative biographical analysis with a close reading of Pasternak’s later poems.

Abstract

Abstract. Many students still struggle with reading comprehension, particularly in the areas of identifying topics, using proper grammar, understanding meaning, and expanding vocabulary. This study focuses on determining the effectiveness of applying the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model in reading comprehension, especially in composing recount text. It focuses on finding solutions to the students' reading issues in relation to the four aspects including topic, grammar,   meaning,   and   vocabulary.   The pre-experimental research design was used to carry out this research. Pre-test observations in class were also carried out by researchers before implementing the CIRC model. After carrying out the pre-test, the CIRCL model continued to be applied in class. Random sampling was used with 30 students of VIII D Secondary School in Bandung. During the course of the investigation, classes were observed and reading assessments, including pre-tests and post-tests, were administered to students. The results of this research indicated that CIRC use both individually and in groups significantly helps students' reading comprehension abilities. It was shown that the students' active participation in the implementation of CIRC model enhanced their reading comprehension abilities. Students also demonstrated positive outcomes towards numerous activities and features of the CIRC model.  This study suggests that the CIRC model can be integrated into teaching strategies in school to improve reading skills, and also encourages collaborative learning, which is essential for students’ social development in the classroom. Keywords: CIRC Model, reading comprehension, recount text

Abstract

This research is motivated by the difficulties and disinterest of students in writing poetry texts. This is because students do not understand the techniques in writing poetry texts. In addition, students are still not trained in developing their creative thinking in writing poetry texts. To overcome this problem, the authors chose podcast learning media to improve students' ability to write poetry texts and students' creative thinking skills in class VIII SMPN 2 Margahayu. The problem in this study is related to the low ability of students in writing poetry texts and the ability to think creatively. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of podcast media and its impact on the ability to write poetry texts and increase creative thinking skills. The ability of class VIII students of SMPN 2 Margahayu in writing poetry texts is in good category. In addition, the ability to think creatively is also in another good category. Based on the results of statistical calculations, it can be obtained that podcast media has an impact on the ability to write poetry texts and the ability to think creatively. This is supported by statistical calculations. There are significant differences in writing poetry texts and students' creative thinking in the experimental class using podcast media and the control class using image media. This study uses a mix method with data collection techniques through tests, observations, and interviews. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that learning to write poetry texts has an impact on students' creative thinking abilities. In addition, it can be an alternative to choosing a learning model in class. Abstract

The community service program at MI Ihsaniyah, Jambi City, aimed to strengthen the development of students’ religious character through collaborative mentoring between teachers and parents, based on effective communication. The background of this initiative was the low intensity of school–family communication and the lack of alignment in character education between home and school. The Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach was employed, involving teachers, parents, lecturers, and students in the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. The activities included monthly communication forums, training on effective communication strategies for parents, and ongoing mentoring. As a result, there was an improvement in the quality of two-way communication, alignment of the values instilled, and consistency in students’ religious behavior both at school and at home. Parents became more confident, empathetic, and actively involved in the character-building process. The communication forum served as a sustainable collaboration platform, fostering a synergistic educational ecosystem and becoming a replicable model for religious character development in other schools.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently gained prominence in higher education, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, offering transformative potential for learning and innovation. However, students’ adoption of AI tools is influenced by multiple psychological and contextual factors. This study aims to examine the effects of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence on students’ behavioral intentions to integrate AI into STEM education. A quantitative research design was employed, involving 203 undergraduate students from the University of Jambi and Universitas PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through SmartPLS 3.3 to identify direct and mediating relationships among variables. The findings revealed that performance expectancy significantly influenced students’ behavioral intentions, indicating that perceived usefulness of AI outweighs ease of use in determining adoption. Effort expectancy also had a substantial effect and mediated the relationship between performance expectancy and behavioral intentions, while social influence showed no significant impact. These results highlight that students’ engagement with AI in STEM learning is driven more by perceived academic and functional benefits than by peer or social reinforcement. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework with the STEM education context in developing countries, providing new empirical insights into AI adoption behavior. The study recommends designing AI-supported learning environments that emphasize practical benefits, user-friendly interfaces, and pedagogical integration to enhance students’ learning outcomes and technological readiness.
