Abstract

Pandemic has changed microteaching models from offline to fully online. This requires skills that integrate technology into the lesson planning and teaching practice. This study aims to describe the implementation of fully online microteaching models to improve the teaching competence of Arabic language pre-service student teachers, its problems and solutions. This study uses qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques and analyzed with Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model of qualitative analysis technique. The study results show that the Arabic Microteaching course at the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of Sunan Ampel Islamic State University was designed to be fully online using two models, namely synchronous and asynchronous models, using the media of Google Classroom and Google Meet. This model has its problems. The limited internet package made the students unable to turn on their cameras. This made the teaching practice less interactive. It also hampered the development of the social skills of the teaching practice students. The problem was overcome by regulating the turn to turn on the camera in the synchronous model and maximizing the offline asynchronous model by getting the students to attend [the class] and by recording the teaching practice in video. In this way, the fully online microteaching model can make Arabic language pre-service student teachers more competent in designing their lesson plans and in practicing digital-based learning creatively and innovatively.

Abstract

This study reports a structured capacity-building program designed to improve Islamic boarding school teachers’ competence in designing AI-based assessments for critical thinking skills. The intervention was carried out with 91 teachers across 14 school subjects at a large pesantren —a traditional Islamic educational institution that integrates religious and national curricula—in East Java, Indonesia. The program integrated three components: (i) foundational understanding of generative AI, (ii) explicit mapping of higher-order thinking indicators (analysis, inference, evaluation), and (iii) co-construction of assessment tasks and analytic rubrics through guided prompt engineering. A one-group pretest–posttest design was used to evaluate teacher learning gains. Results demonstrate a very large improvement in teachers’ assessment design knowledge and skills, with mean scores increasing from 37.75 (pretest) to 90.49 (posttest), and a statistically significant t-value (t = 29.49, p < .01). Survey findings also indicate strong positive perceptions of AI usefulness, relevance, and feasibility. Teachers were able to generate authentic HOTS tasks contextualized to Islamic and local cultural values, accompanied by clear rubrics for evaluating evidence-based reasoning. The study concludes that AI-assisted design can meaningfully accelerate teacher capacity to design higher-order assessments in faith-based educational settings, provided that AI is used as a scaffold for human reasoning, not as an answer generator. Implications for scaling professional development and institutionalizing AI-embedded assessment innovation in pesantren contexts are discussed

Abstract

The integration of digital technology into mathematics classrooms remains inconsistent despite the development of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. This study investigates the persistent "know–do gap" by proposing a conceptual framework consisting of intended, enacted, and reflected TPACK. A qualitative multiple-case study was conducted with four secondary mathematics teachers in East Java, Indonesia. Data were triangulated from lesson plans, dual-camera classroom observations, and video-stimulated recall (VSR) interviews. Findings reveal a significant discrepancy: while teachers designed sophisticated technology-rich lessons, 65% of planned activities were shortened or abandoned during enactment. This regression to traditional instruction was primarily driven by excessive dual cognitive load and real-time classroom management pressures. VSR successfully uncovered teachers’ tacit reasoning, serving as a cognitive trigger for reflective improvement. The study concludes that TPACK is a situated and dynamic competence rather than a static body of knowledge. Implications suggest that professional development should move beyond technical training toward structured video-reflection cycles to develop teachers' adaptive orchestration and real-time decision-making skills.

Abstract

Digital literacy has become an essential competence for mathematics educators, particularly in the domain of assessment. This study aims to explore the lived experiences and readiness of pre-service mathematics teachers in integrating digital literacy into mathematics assessment practices. The research employed a transcendental phenomenological approach to capture the essence of participants’ experiences in designing and implementing digital-based assessments. The participants consisted of six final-year pre-service mathematics teachers from two Indonesian universities who had experience developing digital assessment tasks during their teaching practice. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of digital assessment artifacts, including GeoGebra-based activities and Quizizz assessments. The data were analyzed using a phenomenological reduction process involving epoché, horizonalization, clustering of meaning units, and synthesis of the essence of the phenomenon. The findings reveal that although pre-service teachers demonstrate strong operational skills in using digital tools, their readiness to design meaningful digital mathematics assessments varies. Three main themes emerged from the analysis: technological fluency, pedagogical considerations in digital assessment design, and alignment between digital tools and assessment rubrics. The results indicate that readiness to integrate digital literacy in mathematics assessment involves not only technical competence but also the integration of pedagogical reasoning and assessment literacy. These findings highlight the importance of integrating digital assessment training within teacher education programs to better prepare future mathematics teachers for technology-supported assessment practices.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The idea of Islamization of science emerged when the first world conference on Islamic education was held in Mecca in 1977. One of the ideas recommended at the conference was concerning the Islamization of science presented by Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. From the idea of Islamization of these two figures, a discourse on the integration of science in various global Islamic Higher Education institutions was born, including in Indonesia. The development of IAIN into UIN is an example of the form of scientific integration itself. Today, several Islamic Higher Education in Indonesia, especially UIN throughout Indonesia are developing an integrative paradigm in Islamic sciences. Among other things, the integration of general science and the UIN Jakarta religion, the integration of interconnections with the metaphor of the UIN Yogyakarta spider web, the science tree UIN Malang, Roda Pedati or revelation guided the knowledge of UIN Bandung, and the integrated twin towers of UIN Surabaya. From the study of the concept of scientific integration 5 UIN, it was found that the scientific integration in each UIN in Indonesia was substantially the same, namely combining the religious sciences and general science and removing the dichotomy between the two sciences. Keywords: Islamization of science; Scientific Integration; Islamic University.

Abstract

This article aims to reconstruct an Arabic language curriculum based on a humanistic approach by adopting Carl Rogers’ learning model. The main problem in Arabic language learning in Indonesia is the dominance of the structural-grammatical approach, which tends to neglect the affective aspects and individual needs of learners. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review, analyzing relevant literature on curriculum, humanistic theory, and language learning. The findings indicate that Rogers’ model, which emphasizes student-centered learning, freedom of learning, and authentic experiences, can serve as a foundation for reconstructing a more holistic Arabic language curriculum. This reconstruction includes the development of learning objectives, contextual materials, participatory strategies, and authentic assessment. The implementation of this model in mahārah lughawiyyah instruction has proven effective in enhancing students’ motivation, engagement, and communicative competence. This article recommends strengthening teacher training and reformulating the evaluation system to support the implementation of a humanistic curriculum

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how Accounting Information Systems (AIS) play a role in optimizing the purchasing cycle through the implementation of effective internal control. Using a systematic literature review method based on various relevant studies, the results indicate that the integration of internal control within AIS has a significant impact on three main aspects: preventing procurement fraud, improving the effectiveness of the procurement process, and enhancing managerial performance. Features such as tiered authorization, audit trails, and access restrictions serve as key tools in promoting system transparency and accountability. Furthermore, consistently implemented internal control enables companies to quickly identify suspicious transactions and maintain data integrity. Therefore, AIS is not merely a financial reporting tool, but also serves as a fundamental pillar for operational control and strategic decision-making. These findings provide an important foundation for the future development of purchasing management systems and risk control strategies.
