Abstract

Background: The demand for cloves, both domestically and internationally, continues to rise. However, clove productivity in East Java Province has shown fluctuations and a declining trend during the 2015 - 2022 period. This decline is influenced by various factors, including suboptimal farming input allocation, pest attacks, unpredictable weather conditions, and the cyclical nature of clove production.Purpose: This paper examines the influence of production inputs on clove productivity and production risks in East Java Province. Design/methodology/approach: This paper utilized secondary data from the 2014 Household Agricultural Survey, incorporating a sample of 937 clove farming households in East Java Province. The Just and Pope Model was utilized to evaluate the influence of production inputs on clove productivity and production risks.Findings/Results: The analysis demonstrates that clove production risks in East Java are high, as indicated by a coefficient of variation (CV) greater than 0.5. Production inputs that increase clove productivity include family labor, external labor, organic fertilizers, pesticides, and plant population. However, the application of TSP fertilizers decreases clove productivity. Furthermore, the application of ZA fertilizers increases production risks, while family labor decreases production risks. Conclusion: The findings emphasize the critical importance of managing production inputs to improve clove productivity and reduce associated risks. Key recommendations include implementing training programs to enhance farmers’ knowledge, providing subsidies to encourage efficient input use, and adopting effective pest control strategies. These interventions are essential for promoting the sustainability and resilience of clove farming in East Java. This study offers actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders, supporting efforts to stabilize productivity and mitigate production risks.Originality/value: This paper adds to the understanding of production inputs influencing clove farming, particularly the input-related risks and productivity in East Java Province, providing insights for better farm management practices. Keywords: cloves, productivity, production risk, production input, East Java

Abstract

There is a disparity in red chili production between actual and potential which causes the available supply to be inadequate to cover the high demand. Production problems could not only be identified through production factors but also other factors that contribute to the issue. Technical efficiency is an analytical method that measuring production factors and out-of-production factors simultaneously. This study aims to measure the level of technical efficiency of red chili farming, to analyze the factors that influence red chili production, and to analyze the factors that influence the technical efficiency of red chili farming. This study employs secondary data from the 2013 Agricultural Census Results of the 2014 Horticultural Crop Farming Household Subsector Survey (ST2013 SHR), Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) is a method of estimating the level of technical efficiency of red chili farming and the factors that affect it. The results revealed that the average level of technical efficiency of Indonesian red chili farms was 0.6525. This level implies that Indonesian red chili farms still have the opportunity to be improved. Seeds, N-element fertilizers, P-element fertilizers, manures, pesticides and labor are factors that can affect red chili production. Education, technologies, participation in farmer groups, planting seasons, land types, cropping systems and certified seeds are factors that can raise the technical efficiency of red chili farming while access to credit and subsidies can reduce the technical efficiency of red chili farming. Assistance in the use of subsidies and credit is a policy the government could take in enhancing the technical efficiency of Indonesian red chili farms besides the technology use and dry season planting.

Abstract

Research aims: This study aims to investigate herding behavior in the large-capitalization cryptocurrency market and analyze the role/influence of Indonesia's macroeconomic factors, namely inflation and interest rates, on herding behavior in the large-cap cryptocurrency market.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study used secondary data from the daily closing prices of five large-cap cryptocurrencies and Indonesia's macroeconomic data (inflation and interest rates) from April 2019 to December 2022 by using the Cross-Sectional Absolute Deviation (CSAD) model and Newey-West estimator regression approach to detect herding behavior with a modified independent variable model involving factors influencing herding behavior.Research findings: Based on the results using the Newey-West estimator, three main results were obtained. First, large-cap cryptocurrency investors tend to be irrational in their decisions and follow the decisions of others without reference to their beliefs or herding during the sample period. Second of the two macroeconomic factors studied, i.e., inflation and interest rates, only changes in inflation rates influence investor herding behavior. Third, the market is inefficient with the proven tendency of herding behavior in large-cap cryptocurrencies.Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: This study narrows down the research of previous studies by using cryptocurrency research objects with a large market capitalization (large cap). In addition, this research extends the research of previous studies by considering external factors related to macroeconomic conditions in Indonesia in general, such as the inflation rate and the interest rate. This study can provide information about financial behavior in the cryptocurrency market, especially herding behavior, so that investors and policymakers can be assisted in formulating investment strategies and regulating cryptocurrencies.Research limitation: This research was limited to using only cryptocurrency assets by not using crypto-tokens, non-fungible tokens (NFT), and other crypto-assets.

Abstract

Background: The development of the industry, which is increasingly oriented towards increasing competitiveness and quality, is closely related to the ownership of international certification in global competition. Industries that have international certification have a good reputation for improving industrial performance from financial and operational aspects. Purpose: This study aims to analyze research trends, conceptual networks of international certification, and their impact on industrial performance. Design/Methodology/Approach : The approach used in this study is exploratory with the help of bibliometric analysis visualization using r-packages and VOSViewer software. By using various exclusion and inclusion criteria, it was found that there were 450 relevant articles from the Scopus database in the 2014-2024 range with scientific fields, namely management, economics, business, and finance. Findings/Results: The results of the analysis show that there are positive and negative relationships due to the application of international certification. In general, the application of international certification has a positive impact in increasing consumer confidence, increasing the efficiency of company operations, broader market access, improving the image and reputation of the company in the international market. On the other hand, international certification does not always have a positive impact. In some cases, certification has resulted in high costs such as audit costs, training costs, testing, and periodic maintenance costs. In addition, the negative impact of international certification will increase the company's administrative burden, orient the consumer focus on price rather than quality, and not always provide added value. Conclusion: Hopefully, this research leads to the conclusion that international certification research has prospects in the preparation of future stakeholder policies.Originality/State of art: This study fills a gap in the literature by introducing a comprehensive analysis of the effect of international certification on industry performance using bibliometric analysis. A comprehensive bibliometric study of this research trend is under-researched. Different from previous studies that only focus on one industry or certification type, this research conducts analyses across sectors and regions, offering a more in-depth global perspective. Bibliometric techniques such as co-citation and temporal analysis are increasingly being used to understand research patterns in the international certification literature Keywords: bibliometrics, conceptual networks, international certification, industrial performance, research trends

Abstract

This study examines the influence of financial literacy, risk tolerance, and trust on cryptocurrency investment decision-making among the millennial generation in Jabodetabek. Cryptocurrency adoption in Indonesia has surged, with millennials as the dominant investor group, despite the inherent risks such as price volatility and regulatory uncertainty. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the theoretical framework, this research investigates how attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, alongside financial literacy, risk tolerance, and trust, affect millennials’ decisions to invest in cryptocurrencies. A quantitative approach was employed, surveying 325 millennial investors across Jabodetabek. The findings indicate that attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, risk tolerance, and trust significantly influence investment intentions and behavior. Contrarily, financial literacy showed no significant direct effect on investment intentions, suggesting that even investors with limited financial knowledge are inclined to invest due to positive attitudes and social influences. Risk tolerance and trust were found to play critical roles in shaping investment decisions, highlighting the importance of psychological factors in navigating cryptocurrency markets. These insights provide valuable implications for policymakers, financial educators, and cryptocurrency platform developers to foster more informed and responsible investment behaviors among young investors

Abstract

Agricultural entrepreneurship has the potential to drive economic development. Identifying the factors that influence the orientation towards agricultural entrepreneurship can aid in designing intervention programs that encourage farmers to develop entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector. This study aims to review scholarly articles related to the factors that promote entrepreneurial orientation in the agricultural field. A Scoping Review was conducted with the following eligibility criteria: a) academic articles from Scopus, Science Direct, Ebsco, and Wiley, b) articles published within the last 10 years, from 2015 to 2024, c) written in English, d) the study population are farmers, and e) the measured impact is agricultural entrepreneurship. Article management was done using Mendeley with a four-stage article selection process, including identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Over the past 10 years, there have been 12 articles related to the factors driving farmers' entrepreneurial orientation, with seven variables most frequently identified: knowledge support, market access, networks, association membership, experience, risk-taking, access to internet, and radio. Knowledge support provides crucial information and skills for decision-making and opportunity utilization. Market access enhances farmer entrepreneurship by providing information and value-added services. Participation in farmer associations improves skills, information access, business mindset, and technology adaptation. Experience and risk-taking form a strong foundation for entrepreneurial behavior, enabling the identification of opportunities, development of innovative solutions, and risk management. Access to the internet and radio serves as a medium for farmers to obtain agricultural information.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of digital transformation on the performance of Indonesian commercial banks, with financial risk measured by the Z-Score as a moderating variable. Using panel data regression on 21 listed banks from 2019 to 2023, the findings reveal that digital transformation has a positive and significant impact on Net Interest Margin (NIM), reflecting improved efficiency and profitability. However, when financial risk is considered, the direct effect of digital transformation becomes insignificant, suggesting that risk conditions may hinder the optimal benefits of digital initiatives. Interestingly, the interaction term between digital transformation and Z-Score is positive and significant, indicating that banks with higher financial stability are better positioned to leverage digital technologies. Furthermore, leverage and Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) show significant effects, while macroeconomic factors such as inflation and GDP growth are insignificant. These results highlight that the success of digital transformation depends not only on technology adoption but also on financial soundness and effective risk management. The findings provide practical implications for regulators and banking practitioners in designing sustainable digital transformation strategies that enhance competitiveness in the digital era.
