Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Creative Problem Solving learning model with a contextual approach to students' mathematical and creative thinking ability. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Mataram Semarang academic year 2017/2018 spreading in four classes. Sampling was done with selected random sampling technique and resulted class VIII-A as control group and VIII-C as experimental group. Data collection methods used were the test of creative thinking ability, the scale of interest in learning, observation and interview. Proportion test results obtained z_calculation = 2.77 then h_i was accepted, so it can be concluded the percentage of classical completeness. The t test results showed that the difference of two average obtained t_hitung = 8.63 and z_table = 1.68. Since t_calculation > t_table, it can be concluded that the mean of mathematical creative thinking abilities test of experimental class students who got CPS learning with contextual approach was more than the average of the data of mathematical creative thinking abilities tested in control group which achieved Discovery Learning. The proportion difference test resulted z_hitung = 5.67 and z_tabel = 1.64. Since z_count> z_tabel, the proportion of thorough students in the class using the CPS model with contextual cognition was greater than the proportion of students who completed the study in the classroom using the Discovery Learning model. From the result of difference test of average and proportion, it can be concluded that result of the test of the ability of mathematical creative thinking on students in experimental group which applied Creative Problem Solving learning with contextual approach was better than the control group which applied Discovery Learning. Based on the analysis, it can be known the implementation result of Creative Problem Solving learning model with an effective contextual approach in the delivery of material probability class VIII SMP Mataram Seamrang academic year 2017/2018. Students with a high learning interest had a high level of creative thinking ability. Students with fair interest in learning gained enough criterion. Meanwhile, students who had a low interest in learning had low level of creative thinking ability.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to explore how the Problem-Based Learning model with the Think Talk Write approach affect mathematical literacy ability. This study used mixed methods with concurrent embedded models. The subjects of this study were a class in a Junior High School in Margasari. Observation, documentation, tests, and interviews were used to collect data. The design used in this study was a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The method of data collection in this study is the method of documentation, tests, observation, and interviews. The purpose of the interview is to find out students' mathematical literacy abilities. The data analysis in this study was an analysis of the initial data test, analysis of the results of tests of mathematical literacy ability, and qualitative data analysis. Test data includes the normality and homogeneity test. The normality was checked using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, the homogeneity was checked using the Levene test, and the similarities between the two class was checked using the Independent-Sample T-Test. The students' mathematical literacy abilities were analyzed based on the results of the post-test using the Miles and Huberman Model. The study revealed the profile of mathematics literacy abilities of students in the setting of Problem-Based Learning.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out how the effectiveness of PjBL towards students' HOTS and to find out how the HOTS process of students in terms of the Osborn Model thinking process. This study uses mixed methods using a pre-experimental research design that is used is the one-shot case study using a sequential explanatory strategy. The population used in this study were all 8th-grade students at one junior high school in Semarang in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The research subjects were students of class 8A in a Junior High School in Semarang. Methods of data collection were carried out using tests, interviews, and observations. The results of the quantitative research showed that the ability of students in the HOTS aspect who received PjBL learning did not achieve actual passing grade. It can be concluded that the project-based learning model is not effective against students' HOTS. The results of the qualitative research indicate that there are descriptions of the HOTS process at various levels of analysis and evaluation. The diversity of HOTS process descriptions is shown in the fact-finding idea-making stage, some subjects who can achieve the evaluation level and get high scores to choose then write down information to solve the problem. In the idea-generating stage, subjects who have reached the evaluation level in HOTS tend to do one thing to find ideas, read repeatedly to find ideas and do not move to other problems if they don't find ideas. In the idea evaluation stage, the subject with the level of analysis does not check the complete results. the subject with the level of evaluation checks all the results of completion or some of the results of completion, some students pay attention to writing the results of the completion so that it is easy to understand.

Abstract

Students' mathematical understanding concepts are challenging enough to be explained virtually during distance learning. The study helps students to understand mathematical concepts and improve their independent attitudes. This study aims to analyze and describe the mathematical understanding concepts and independent attitudes of fourth grade students after the implementation of guided discovery-based e-worksheets in distance learning with synchronous and asynchronous patterns. The method used in this study is mixed-methods with an embedded experimental model design, true experimental pretest-posttest control group. The research population were all fourth-grade students from State Primary School 2 Jojo (experimental) and State Primary School 3 Jojo (control) in Kudus Regency. Sampling was determined by probability sampling technique, with a total of 23 fourth grade students at State Primary School 2 Jojo. Data collection techniques used test items, questionnaire instruments and document studies. The results of n-gain showed that the experimental class was 57% in the quite effective category compared control class of 41% in the less effective category. The results of independent sample t-test showed there was an average difference between two primary schools studied. The posttest average results of the experimental class were 80.43% compared control class of 72.69%, while the questionnaire average results of the experimental class was 77% compared to the control class was 73%. That means, the implementation of guided discovery-based e-worksheets is quite effective and can increase the mathematical understanding concepts and the independent attitudes of fourth grade primary school students.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to evaluate, identify, categorize the level of mathematical creative thinking ability and determine the influence of mathematical resilience on mathematical creative thinking ability in class VIII at SMP Negeri 10 Semarang city before and before implementing the modelProblem Based Learning helpSeesaw. The type of research in this research is quantitative. The research method used is a quantitative method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The data collection technique uses creative thinking ability tests for pretest and posttest with number content. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is the average difference (Independent Sample T-Test), Gain test, and Simple Regression Test. The research results show that based on the results of the average difference test, there are differences in scores before and after applying the modelProblem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Seesaw can improve mathematical creative thinking skills with an average score for each before and after the model is applied, namely 46 and 76 with categorization of improvement based on the Gain test after the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Seesaw is applied, namely 5 students with low improvement, 18 students with moderate improvement, and 9 students with high improvement and the average increase of students after applying the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Seesaw was included in the medium category, and there was an influence of mathematical resilience on students' mathematical creative thinking abilities. The conclusions in this research are Applying the PBL model assisted by Seesaw can improve creative mathematical thinking skills in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 10 Semarang
