Abstract

This research aims to develop a unique curriculum for Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) and how to build character and nationality in students in an independent curriculum. The approach used in this research is qualitative, using library research methods. The data collection technique in this research is collecting from the sources mentioned, classifying the data, and continuing with the conclusion. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis. The results of this research show that there are several strategies for developing the Islamic religious education curriculum in building national character and insight, including Discovery Learning (DL), Inquiry Learning (IL), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project Based Learning (PJBL), and Scientific Learning (SL). So, there is a second alternative to carrying out this learning by using learning methods that focus on how students work in understanding, analyzing, and practicing. The implication of this research is that curriculum development and students' national attitudes is the foundation for the learning process using contemporary methods.

Abstract

Islam teaches that the acquisition of knowledge boils down to the source of knowledge, namely the Qur'an. In it there is a view of science in terms of the origin of science, the subject and object of what is studied, the epistemology of science, the urgency of science with the divine tawhid system. So with regard to that, this study aims to analyze; (1) the concept of science from the perspective of the Qur'an surah Al-Mujadalah verse 11 and Shad verse 29. The research method used is qualitative based on library studies. Data collection techniques used are documentation studies using library data derived from Tafsir, journal articles, relevant books. While the data analysis technique used with descriptive analysis, then the analysis can be studied in depth. The results of the study explain that the essence of science in the Qur'an Al-Mujadalah verse 11 and the Qur'an Shad verse 29, with regard to three things, namely (1) The Search for Knowledge, where a knowledge seeker must have manners, prioritize ethics before knowledge, be serious in the learning process, establish good relations between fellow human beings. (2) the function of science, namely dhikr or remembering, fikir or thinking, and righteous deeds, (3) the application of science in all aspects of life, which aims to be spiritual and practical in everyday life.

Abstract

Islamic moral education has long been positioned as a normative and prescriptive process that emphasizes the doctrinal transmission of values. Such an approach tends to overlook the interpretive dimension and learners’ lived experiences in the process of internalizing moral values. Departing from these limitations, this article examines Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim by al-Zarnuji as a form of lived moral pedagogy within the pesantren context, employing Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic theory of mimesis as the analytical framework. The purpose of this study is to understand how the moral teachings contained in Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim are not merely taught as normative texts but are internalized, mediated, and dynamically interpreted by educational actors in the pesantren. This research adopts a qualitative case study design conducted at Pesantren Buntet, Indonesia. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews with kiai, ustaz, and santri, and textual analysis of Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim. The data are analyzed through Ricoeur’s three-stage mimesis framework: prefiguration, configuration, and refiguration. The findings reveal that al-Zarnuji’s moral principles function as pre-reflective ethical horizons that shape the dispositions of santri (Mimesis I), are configured into coherent pedagogical narratives through the authority and exemplarity of the kiai (Mimesis II), and are actively refigured by learners in their responses to contemporary educational challenges (Mimesis III). The implications of this study underscore that Islamic moral education should be understood as a hermeneutic-narrative praxis that integrates textual authority, pedagogical mediation, and learner agency, thereby contributing to the development of character education discourse in the modern era.

Abstract

Ecotheological education is designed to foster environmental piety by integrating religious values with ecological responsibility. However, its implementation in practice has not been fully effective, indicating the need for more targeted educational strategies and optimal supervision to achieve comprehensive environmental piety. This study aims to describe and analyse the strengthening of ecotheological education in improving environmental piety at SMP Daarut Tauhiid Boarding School. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on the process of strengthening ecotheological education. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving the school principal, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that strengthening ecotheological education enhances students’ environmental awareness and positive attitudes, as well as their ability to identify and provide appropriate solutions to environmental problems. This study highlights the importance of strengthening ecotheological education as an effective strategy for fostering environmental piety and offers a model for implementing it that can be sustainably applied within the school environment.
