Abstract

One of the factors that affect the colour quality of the platy fish (Xyphophorus helleri) during cultivation is the environment in bright light conditions, where setting bright light conditions can be done using a tank with a colour that can absorb light. Therefore, a study was conducted to examine the effect of tank colour on improving the colour quality of the platy fish and determining the correct tank colour. This research was conducted with an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments repeated three times. The colour treatments of the tanks used were white, black, red, orange and yellow. The parameters observed were the increase in colour, growth in absolute weight and length and survival rate of platy fish. The results showed that the use of different tank colours had a significant effect (p <0.05%) on the improvement of colour quality and growth in absolute weight, and had no significant effect (p> 0.05) on absolute length growth and survival rate. The highest increase in colour quality was in white tanks with brightness values ranging from 13-15% and absolute weight growth ranging from 0.21 to 0.25 g. Therefore, in the cultivation of platy fish, a white tank should be used.

Abstract

Koi fish is one of the freshwater ornamental fish that has an attractive body color, so the color disorder needs attention. The natural feed for pumpkin flour combined with carrot flour in artificial feed aims to improve the color quality of the koi fish. The study used a completely randomized design design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications so that 15 experimental units were obtained, each experimental unit contained 10 koi fish, and there were 5 treatments; P0 100% Pellets, P1 contains 90% Pellets + 3% LK Flour + TW 7%, P2 contains 90% Pellets + 4% LK Flour + 6% W Flour, P3 contains 90% Pellets + 5% LK Flour + W 5 Flour %, P4 contains 90% Pellets + 6% LK Flour + 4% W Flour. In this study, the highest increase in color value in koi fish occurred in the P4 treatment with the addition of a combination of 6% pumpkin flour and 4% carrot flour. The parameters in the study were the increase in color quality, increase in length and weight of koi fish, SR, and water quality. Observation data were analyzed using analysis of variance (AN0VA).

Abstract

Nereis sp. including one of the commodities that have high economic value as well as important commodities in the world of aquaculture. The survival rate of organisms affected by good cultivation management include solid spread, feed quality, water quality, parasites or diseases. High spread solids will have an impact on the decrease in growth rate, feed consumption and survival rate. Therefore, the importance of research on solid spread because it is very closely related to the production and growth speed of cultivated biota. This study was conducted to find out the influence of different scatter solids on the growth and life's smoothness Nereis sp. The research was conducted for 35 days of maintenance using marine worm biota or Nereis sp. The method used is an experimental method using a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 3 repeats namely, Treatment 1: solid spread 50 individuals/m2, Treatment 2: solid spread 100 individuals/m2, Treatment 3: solid spread 150 individuals/m2, Treatment 4: solid spread 200 individuals/m2 and Treatment 5: solid spread 250 individuals/m2. Treatment with solid spread 150 individuals / m2 (P3) gives the best influence in improving the growth and survival of Nereis sp. 0.7838 g and 93.33%.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the aquaculture sector can indirectly lead to the accumulation of unresolved aquaculture waste in the sea. The IMTA cultivation system is one of the innovations developed in aquaculture activities to overcome aquatic environmental problems, such as the accumulation of waste from feed used in aquaculture activities. The concept combines the cultivation of several species with different trophic levels, such as fish that are fed and combined with seaweed that can absorb inorganic materials in the water. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of nitrogen absorption in Kappaphycus alvarezii using a longline system in the IMTA area in the waters of Ekas Bay. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 4 treatments and each treatment was divided into 4 groups (North, South, East, and West). The treatment given was planting seaweed at different depths, namely 50 cm, 100 cm, 150 cm, and 200 cm. The results showed that Kappaphycus alvarezii reared with an integrated cultivation system at different planting depths gave significantly different results in absolute weight growth with values ranging from 120,31 grams – 195,58 grams and specific growth rates ranging from 2.67% - 4, 35%, but did not have a significant effect on the rate of nitrogen uptake in all treatments, but the highest absorption value was at a depth of 2 meters. So the researchers suggest the cultivation of Kappaphycus alvarezii at a depth of 2 meters in the waters of Ekas Bay, East Lombok with a longline system in the IMTA area.

Abstract

Aeromonas hydrophila is a pathogenic bacterium that often causes disease in freshwater fish, thus impacting food insecurity and global economic losses. Biofilm formation by A. hydrophila regulated by the quorum sensing (QS) system plays an important role in increasing virulence and resistance to antibiotics. Inhibiting the QS system can be an option to control A. hydrophila infection in fish. One of the ingredients that can be used is octopus ink extract containing alkaloids. This study aims to analyze the potential of octopus ink extract as an anti-quorum sensing agent in preventing the formation of A. hydrophila biofilms in aquaculture. The method used is a systematic literature study by collecting data from scientific articles. The analysis was carried out in depth to evaluate the mechanism of octopus ink extract in inhibiting QS and bacterial biofilms. The results showed that active compounds in octopus ink, such as alkaloids, can inhibit communication between bacterial cells by blocking QS autoinducers. This process suppresses the expression of virulence genes and prevents biofilm formation without affecting bacterial viability, so the risk of antibiotic resistance can be minimized. In conclusion, octopus ink extract has great potential as an anti-quorum sensing agent to support the management of A. hydrophila infection in aquaculture. The use of this extract is not only effective but also environmentally friendly, offering an innovative solution to improve the health of farmed fish and the sustainability of the aquaculture industry. Furthermore, octopus ink extract can be used as an immunostimulant in aquaculture industry.
