Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Financial Performance on Company Value. The samples included in this study comprised of companies that were listed in the KOMPAS100 index for the period spanning from 2017 to 2021. The sampling methodology employed in this study was the use of simple random sampling, resulting in a sample size of 40 companies. The employed analytical framework is multiple linear regression analysis, enabled by the application of SPSS software. The findings of this study indicate that the variables of GCG (Good Corporate Governance), CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), ERM (Enterprise Risk Management), and Financial Performance collectively exert a substantial and favorable impact on the value of a company. To a certain extent, the variables of GCG (Good Corporate Governance) and Financial Performance exhibit a notable and favorable influence on the valuation of a company. Conversely, the factors of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) do not show a statistically significant impact on the magnitude of Company Value. Thus, investors may take into account the inclusion of data pertaining to a company's Good Corporate Governance (GCG) policies and Financial Performance when making investment choices. Company management must acknowledge the significance of implementing efficacious corporate governance processes and augmenting financial performance as strategic measures to enhance the value of the organization.

Abstract

Bisphenol A (BPA) is recognized as an endocrine disruptor, capable of interfering with the normal functioning of hormones within the body by mimicking the effects of estrogen. Drinking water is one of the most common pathways of exposure to BPA as it can permeate plastic products and other materials, entering water sources. This article presents a comprehensive overview of BPA, including its incidence, origins, environmental fate, its impact on human health, and the role of fungi in the biodegradation of BPA. Fungi are natural decomposers, capable of breaking down organic compounds, including BPA, under suitable conditions. Studies have demonstrated that specific species of fungi can effectively biodegrade BPA. Some fungi utilize ligninolytic enzymes, such as laccases and peroxidases, to break down the phenolic rings of BPA. Other fungi employ non-ligninolytic enzymes, such as esterases and hydrolases, to cleave the ester linkages in BPA. Furthermore, some fungi can break down BPA via cometabolic pathways, whereby the chemical is degraded as a side reaction to the degradation of another substrate. The use of immobilized enzymes for BPA degradation has also demonstrated potential. Immobilized enzymes are those that are attached to a solid support, such as a polymer or matrix, allowing them to be used multiple times and enhance their stability and catalytic activity

Abstract

This study investigated the antimicrobial activity, cellulolytic, and amylolytic abilities of eight thermophilic Actinomy-cetes isolated from the heated soil around the Cisolok geyser, West Java, Indonesia. Cellulolytic and amylolytic abili-ties were screened for on media by adding 1% (w/v) soluble starch and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), respectively. Antimicrobial activity was screened for using the agar-plug diffusion method by cultivating strains on various growth media. Growth at various temperatures showed that six strains could grow up to 50 °C. Seven out of eight strains showed amylolytic ability at 40 °C and 45 °C, and only four strains did so at 50 °C. Screening for cellulolytic ability showed that seven strains could hydrolyze CMC at 40 °C, whereas seven and five strains could hydrolyze at 45 °C and 50 °C, respectively. Antibacterial activity showed that strains UICC B-110 and UICC B-118 grown on various media could inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria. The results of the antifungal activity test showed that strain UICC B-118, incubated for seven and 14 days, could inhibit the growth of Candida albicans. Based on 16S rRNA gene se-quence similarity and phylogenetic analyses, strains UICC B-110 and UICC B-118 were identified as Streptomyces glaucescens and Microbispora rosea subsp. rosea, respectively. These results show that thermophilic Actinomycetes from the soil around the Cisolok geyser have the potential as a source of thermostable enzymes and new bioactive compounds with antimicrobial activity.

Abstract

One of essential component of traditional learning is group work. It refers to a collaborative effort for students to achieve the goal of learning and accomplish the assignment. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the learning was shifted into online which also posed the adaptation of group work in online learning. A questionnaire of students’ perception on group work in online learning was distributed online to 51 students at one private university in Indonesia. Students perceived benefits of group work in online learning including promoting responsibility, improving participation and collaboration, and developing understanding. They also prefer to have group work than individual work. Lastly, they faced discomfort of group work in online learning. This study has shed a light that the pandemic has essentially taught that group work in online learning should be carried out with several careful considerations.

Abstract

The role of English in Indonesian pedagogical field has been studied extensively. However, the role of English in the employment context is scarcely scrutinized. Given the increasing awareness of being employable, examining the functions of international languages demanded in the employment context is imperative. The study focuses on some crucial aspects of English in the employment context, such as the workers' motivation toward English, the goals in learning English, and the potential hardships or challenges in learning or practicing English in their employment context. In order to capture more varied data, the researchers employed a mixed method along with a G-form questionnaire, interviews, and document analysis. The recruited participants comprised of sixty active employees who are currently working as permanent employees in a Chinese company. The participants were recruited randomly. The result indicated that even though English was the employees' preferred foreign language, they preferred to learn it through informal sources (e.g., YouTube, Google Translate, and Grammarly). It was also found that only few departments used English in the company (e.g., marketing, sales department, export- import department). The primary language used to support the company's production was Chinese/Mandarin. The outcome should encourage further research on the factories or businesses owned by non-English nationals (e.g., Japanese, or Korean) so that the critical role of English in the current employment contexts can be verified.

Abstract

This study aims to see how effective the implementation of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is in overcoming psychological problems in the educational environment. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method which analyzes as many as 20 scientific articles published within a period of 10 years, 2015-2024. The results of this study show that the REBT approach is consistently effective in dealing with various psychological problems of students, such as bullying, low learning motivation, academic anxiety, and other psychological problems. The techniques used in the analysis of this research are cognitive disputing, self talk, and reframing. However, there are still challenges in the implementation of REBT, such as the readiness of counselors and limited training. That way, increasing the capacity of BK teachers and integrating REBT in the provision of BK services is crucial. In this study, it has provided a theoretical and practical basis for the development of evidence-based psychological interventions in the educational environment.
